Dress The Dead Releases Two New Songs
Dress The Dead, the band featuring former Forbidden guitarist Craig Locicero, has posted two new songs online named "There Goes The Sun" and "Promises & Kisses." You can check them both out below. The tracks follow on from the previous single, "Knives Out," which is available now through Blood Blast Distribution.
Dress The Dead was originally formed by former Forbidden and Spiral Arms guitarist Craig Locicero in 2017 along with The Haunted vocalist Peter Dolving. After Dolving's departure and the ensuing struggle to find a suitable replacement, the young vocalist Kayla Dixon, who also fronts the band Witch Mountain, reached out to Locicero and recorded sample vocals for the song "1969". From that point forward, Dress The Dead's lineup was complete.
Also featuring guitarist Mikey Rowan (Insolence), bassist James Walker (Manmade God) and drummer Mark Hernandez (Forbidden), the collective pedigree of Dress The Dead lends itself to a sound that is anthemic and soulful, as well as accessible. More...

Vexed Vocalist Introduces "Culling Culture"
After fifty one years of heavy metal music, it's easy to think that we've heard it all by now. There's so many sub-genres and crossover styles that we often wonder if metal can keep expanding. But sometimes it doesn't need a total reinvention, or to be thrown in a pot with twelve other genres, it just needs a passionate collective of talented musicians, a sincere vocalist and drive and that's exactly what makes Vexed such a fascinating band.
Though heavily influenced by grime music, this quartet from the south of England have shown that they do what they feel is right for the song at hand, rather than follow a specific genre or trend. This is partly why their debut album, "Culling Culture," released in five days time (May 21st) one of the records to really watch out for this year. With its punishing music, deeply personal lyrics and eclectic sound, "Culling Culture" promises to be one of the most talked about debuts in metal this year.
To find out more about the album, the band, the importance of mental health and much more, I caught up with vocalist Megan Targett, who had plenty to reveal about the release. You can watch the interview in full below. More...
Craven Idol Reveals New Album Details
Old school stalwarts Craven Idol celebrate their 15th anniversary with "Forked Tongues." Swearing by the gods of old, the North London veterans further hone their unique blend of old school extreme metal.
Dark Descent Records will release "Forked Tongues" on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats on July 23.
"After spending a month on the road with Mystifier, we are a closer-knit unit than ever before. There’s a good reason for this being the longest standing line-up in our fifteen-year existence. The entire band lived and breathed this record in the months preceding the studio, and the performances delivered by each member are testament to their dedication to untarnished extreme metal of old," says founding member Sadistik Wrath.
"'Forked Tongues' is a vicious and concerted tribute to folly of mankind. In these godless days of Sodom, craven idols are in their element, wheeling and dealing, beckoning you to follow their treacherous causes. The apocalyptic legends of ancient Greece read like unholy divination… and it is from them that we drew the subject matter for the record."
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Tom Dring at Southport’s Vagrant Recordings, "Forked Tongues" showcases a rawer side of Craven Idol, aiming to bottle the band’s live ferocity.
Shunning the trends and genre-specifications poisoning the scene, Craven Idol pay homage to a wide variety of bands, including Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Master’s Hammer, Manilla Road, Gospel Of The Horns, Sodom, Satan, Candlemass, Mystifier, Cirith Ungol, and Absu. More...
