Down To Nothing Sign With Revelation Records
Richmond, VA hardcore outfit Down To Nothing have reportedly signed with Revelation Records. The group has previously released material with Thorp Records and Dead By 23 Records, among other labels. Nothing official regarding the signing has been disclosed thus far.
Down To Nothing recently completed a US summer tour with Blacklisted and Cast Aside, and a short stint of dates in the UK in November.
Nicodemus Add Keyboardist and Guitarist
Portland based progressive metallers, NICODEMUS, have secured two new permanent members in keyboardist, Erik Scholibo, and guitarist, Chris Finster. Up until the recent addition of Scholibo, all keyboards had been handled by bassist/vocalist/band leader, Christopher Morris. Finster, however, replaced previous guitarist, Matthew McGee, who had played on the band's last two releases.
Scholibo had previously filled in on keyboards for Nicodemus during a few 2003 tour dates, and had also acted as the band's session photographer in 2004. Scholibo is the owner of Geomana Studios in Portland where the band recorded their recent release, "Vanity Is A Virtue".
Prior to joining Nicodemus, Finster was the bands' engineer and co-producer for "Vanity Is A Virtue", and he had also contributed some guitar and vocals to the album. Finster is a producer and engineer at Geomana Studios, and in addition to his role in Nicodemus, plays with Scholibo in an experimental metal band named Garuda's Mission.
As previously reported, Nicodemus released their third album titled "Vanity Is A Virtue" through the Greek based Sonic Age Records in June of 2005. The album decidedly owes more to the progressive sound than previous Nicodemus releases, 2000's "Tales of the Lovelorn and Necromantic"(Dark Throne Music) and 2003's "The Supernatural Omnibus" (Dark Symphonies), which saw the band focusing on a goth/black metal based sound with progressive elements.

Disturbed Don't Pigeon-hole Themselves As Metal
The Baltimore Sun spoke with Disturbed drummer Mike Wengren about their latest effort 'Ten Thousand Fists', which now sees the Chicago band resisting the heavy-metal tag. "We don't pigeonhole ourselves in metal," Wengren said. "We think our music is more rhythmic. There's a lot that gets attached to metal - the look, the weird vocals that really don't fit our music."

Death metal band Avulsed have sent the following message recapping this past year, dicussing their upcoming MCD in 2006 and their new MySpace page:
"The end of 2005 is near!! A great year for AVULSED where we have played around 35 shows in 14 different countries, including Japan and the whole Europe!! Our "Gorespattered Suicide" album has has got an overwhelming response both from fans and medias, making this probably the best album to date by the band but... our best is yet to come!! AVULSED is a band that still hasn't reached its peak, so we're still able to offer many great moments for the Death Metal community."
"One of these moments will be our upcoming CD "Reanimations" which is not a full length album, but more like a mini CD with 8 bonus tracks!! The AVULSED side will have two brand new tracks: "River Runs Red" and "Foetal Consolation" plus a remake of one song fron the viery first demo '92 entitled "Unconscious Pleasure". AVULSED will also include three cover songs: EXODUS "Piranha", WASP "I Wanna Be Somebody" and GOREFEST "Mental Misery". These three songs are in representation of the main styles that have always influenced the AVULSED sound: Death, Thrash and Heavy Metal. In addition to these 6 songs, there will be 8 AVULSED songs but... played by different bands!! Five spanish bands: TERRORISTARS, KAOTHIC, WITCHES' SABBATH, BYLETH and ABYFSS plus three bands from abroad: IN ELEMENT (Argentina), CARNAVAGE (Algeria) and TWISTED FATE (Australia). This will undoubtely be a very special and original CD whose artwork will be made again by Phlegeton. The AVULSED recordings were supposed to be done during the 2nd half of December, but a suddenn problem happened to the studio and this means the recording will be delayed until at least late January or February. The release of this CD will be done by Electric Chair Music (Spain) and Xtreem Music (rest of the world). We'll keep you updated about the final release date."
"We'd also like to announce you the addition of AVULSED to the successful pehomenon called MySpace.com where many bands and people are creating a mega-comunity. Our page MySpace.com/AvulsedZone will serve as some kind of area where our friends and fans can get in touch, leave messagges, check out our upcoming shows, listen to our music, see photos... So please, check it out and if you have a band, don't hesitate to add us to your friends list!!"
"So that's pretty much all for this time. We wish you all a successful 2006 and regarding AVULSED, we already have a bunch of shows ready for the first months and many more will be coming, including a full Mexican tour (7-8 Dates) in August!!"

Underoath Talk About Slipknot and Satanism
During a Halloween show in New Jersey, Underoath took the stage dressed like Slipknot and opened the show with 'Duality'. "Our manager called their management, and they sent us some masks and said all they wanted was some pictures," guitarist and songwriter Timothy McTague recalled in an interview with MTV News. "We all had jumpsuits with their numbers spray-painted on them. It was funny as crap. Both of our singers love Slipknot. There's a lot of respect there, for sure." Asked why, considering Slipknot's work includes tales of serial killers, followers of black magic and other evildoer, McTague said, "I feel like there are two ways to be satanic. You have bands like Atreyu, who are dark and twisted and have pentagrams and say they believe in vampires and all this evil stuff. But at the end of the day, those guys are just doing theater. We've toured with them several times, and there's no strife there. I feel bands like them and Slipknot don't truly believe in what they're talking about. People who are truly satanic are different, and when they step into a church everything goes weird. But if I started talking to you five minutes ago and I thought you were just a dude, and now you tell me you're a satanic dude, I'm not going to think of you any differently. I love everyone for what they do, and if someone wants to have an adult conversation about doctrinal beliefs or spiritual warfare, that's fine. We'll talk to anybody."

Blind Guardian Checks In With Album Update
Blind Guardian vocalist, Hansi Kürsch, has posted the following album update on the band's official website:
"A sign of life just to let you know that Christmas is getting closer and we are still not done with recordings, yet. But, and that is the good news for the album, we are still on schedule. The description 'on schedule' can be loosely interpreted when talking about a Blind Guardian album production. There is only a small amount of guitars which need to be completed, some bass, a lot of vocals and even more mixing. We are targeting an early February deadline. I am very sorry we have not been able to involve you more so far, but we are so focused on the album that we hardly find the time to eat. I have become a skinny beauty during these days. I promise to provide you with some studio shots as soon as the new year has started.
"The single we mentioned a few months ago has been completed and I wouldld like to provide you with some information about it, only the important stuff and of course only the true stuff. There will three songs on the single: 1. Fly, 2. Skalds and Shadows (acoustic version), 3. In A Gadda Da Vida. More...
