Giant Squid Re-Record Album, Prepare To Relocate
Northern California's Giant Squid spent the holiday weekend last week re-recording their 2002 independent release Metridium Field to serve as their debut for The End Records. Even though guitarist/singer Aaron Gregory is bogged down with studio and school work, he finds time to report in on the ongoing recording process.
"Giant Squid spent four days in a decrepit, freezing, ancient vets hall in Downtown Sacramento known as the Hangar, tracking for their first record on The End Records entitled 'Metridium Field.' The band within the last two weeks decided to re-record the entire record which was originally self released as their debut in 2002."
He adds, "Again at the helm is master of all things with down tuned strings, Billy Anderson (Neurosis, High On Fire, Swans, Sleep), capturing the massive guitar sound the band is known for, as well as the equally large sound of the Hangar's palacial live room. Giant Squid took full advantage of the studio's impressive collection of vintage synthesizers and organs like the classic Farfisa and Hammond. The band is scheduled to track vocals with local buzz engineer, Robert Cheek (RxBandits, An Angle, Deftones), and then mix in their new home town, Austin, TX. where they are relocating from Sacramento, CA in January. Giant Squid is terribly excited to release this new interpretation of their original material on their new found home, The End Records."
Cattle Decapitation Writing New Material
The new video for Cattle Decapitation’s “Reduced To Paste” is now available online. The video was directed by Adam Grabarnick and filmed in May 2005. Cattle Decapitation have also issued the following update about writing their new album:
"Since we’ve been home, we recorded the Caninus split 7”(available now! Thanks for your patience) and have so far written 8 songs for our next album, which are turning out to be very bizarre (exactly how we like it). Picture the new Caninus split material, just longer. We’re going to keep the name of the album to ourselves for a while, but lets just say it’s a bit of a departure, but still very Cattle. We’ve conferred with Wes Benscoter and he will continue as the artist that so greatly visualizes what we’re about. We’re not going to try to outdo ourselves as far as grotesqueness, because if you ask me, the cover to Human Jerky (our first record) cannot and will not be topped… so whatever, opinions are like assholes, and you know what they say… Anyways we’re pretty damned tired of our albums getting banned everywhere so we’re going to make sure there’s no buttholes or anything on the cover of the next one. We’ve noticed the United States and Europe REALLY hate buttholes."
"We enter the studio in February of 2006. We’ll have MR. BILLY ANDERSON (Mr. Bungle, Swans, Neurosis, Impaled) himself producing this monstrosity and we hope to have it out at the beginning of Summer 2006 preceded and followed by our brand of ridiculous amounts of touring! We’re also adding a second guitar player for the first time in Cattle history! He’ll be our rhythm guitarist and will be announced at the beginning of the year. Don’t bother asking, because we’re not going to tell you who he is."

Commando In Van Accident
On their way home from their first US tour, Commando crashed their van in Nevada. All of the band members and equipment are all fine. However, the guitar player had to go to the hospital but he's already back on his feet. Their van is a total loss and they'll be driving home during the next days in a rental van.

Deathgasm Acquires United Guttural Records
As of November 28th, 2005, Deathgasm Records and United Guttural Records have merged. The combination of Deathgasm and United Guttural will create one of the largest independent extreme metal labels in North America.
After two months of negotiations, Rich Lipscomb of United Guttural Records and Fleshgrind sold the company to Evan March, CEO of Deathgasm Records. "Deathgasm / United Guttural looks forward to leading the US death metal scene with brutal music, great service and unparalleled treatment of our artists" said Evan March.
United Guttural releases will be kept in circulation and Deathgasm / United Guttural will continue with the scheduled releases including the Fleshgrind "Demos CD".
The company plans to combine the Deathgasm and United Guttural websites by Spring 2006 in order to streamline the company and make online shopping more convenient for customers.
Deathgasm Records was founded in 1997 to provide the underground metal scene with extreme metal music at affordable prices. In December 2003, Deathgasm Records opened the first and only all metal record store in Georgia. In the process of expansion Deathgasm Records has taken over several record labels including Extremist Records, Warhammer Records, Skeptic Productions and Metal Merchant USA (ex Gutted Records).
