Bang Your Head Festival

Nevermore, Rhapsody, Magnum and Gammy Ray head the list of bands confirmed so far for the Bang Your Head Festival, which happens in Balingen, Germany on June 28 and 29. Also booked to appear so far are Nightwish, Overkill, Jag Panzer, Symphony X, Tankard and Iron Savior.

Voivod Perform With Snake

On December 30, Voivod will make their first live appearance since the return of vocalist Snake. It happens at the Foufounes Electrique in Montreal, when the band will perform a 30-minute set of Sex Pistols covers. However, they won’t be joined by former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted, who is to work with the band on their next studio album.

Iron Maiden Live

Iron Maiden will finally release a live CD of their performance last January at the Rock In Rio Festival in the spring. However, they’ve put the issuing of the accompanying DVD on indefinite hold because of production problems. Bassist Steve Harris has now taken full control of the project, which should follow later in 2002.

Croatia's ASHES YOU LEAVE are putting the finishing touches to their as-yet-untitled fourth album, which is tentatively due to be released in September via Morbid Records.

Excommunion Joins Empire

Poland's Empire Records has signed Colorado death metal outfit Excommunion. Excommunion's debut full-length, Superion, is described as a brutal mix of Immolation, Incantation and Morbid Angel and promises to be "much more than another heavy slab of noise." Superion will feature six tracks of lengthy death metal. Some of the albums songtitles are "Rendering The Demon Gate," "Serpent Of Deep," "Until Oblivion," "The Rites Of The Excommunion" and "Suffering Unto The Damned."

Excommunion's Superion ia expected in early 2002 on Empire Records in Europe with a North American release still pending.
