Shadohm To Release Debut Album In March

Selfmadegod Records presents "Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment," the debut album from new Polish metal collective, Shadohm.

Renowned Polish multi-talented metal musician Pawel "Pavulon" Jaroszewicz (Vader, Decapitated, Hate, Antigama, Obscure Sphinx), joined by several experienced musicians on the Polish metal scene (Adrian Meissner, Rafal Tarlachan, Blazej Kasprzak, and Jakub Sliwowski) have initiated their newest project, Shadohm. Prepare yourselves for the latest offering of pure, unadulterated darkness of black metal, energy of groove metal, climate and heavy melodies of doom metal and absurdly low-tuned notes.

Shadohm’s "Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment" is a modern combination of styles, citing acts like Architects, Lorna Shore, Meshuggah, Gojira, and Katatonia, shocking to the listener from start to finish with five tracks of melodic trance with amazing vocals that will take you to another dimension of modern metal, created by a conglomerate of experienced professionals.

To create "Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment," the drums were recorded at Santa Studio (Behemoth, Obscure Sphinx) by Mikolaj Kiciak, Filip Halucha, and Sebastian Has, the guitars and bass were recorded at Heinrich House Studio by Filip Halucha, the vocals were recorded at Santa Studio by Sebastian Has, and the tracks were mixed and mastered by Has at Santa Studio. The cover art was created by vocalist Adrian Meissner and Michal "Xaay" Loranc (God Dethroned, Kamelot, Nile), and the photography was handled by Aleksandra "Kosa" Majak.

Jaroszewicz comments: "'Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment' is a commentary on how I perceive the surrounding reality and is inspired by everything that I encountered throughout the years. It is a form of releasing the pressure and frustration growing within for many years, a form of catharsis, a sort of therapy – coming to terms with my demons and finding the strength to pursue my goals against all odds."

"Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment" will be released on CD and all digital platforms through Selfmadegod Records on March 8. Watch for pre-orders to post alongside an official video and more over the weeks ahead. More...

Masterplan Shares New Single "Rise Again"

German power metal titans Masterplan, who not only embark on an extensive European tour with Firewind kicking off this February, return with a brand new song, entitled Rise Again.

Following the band's colossal anniversary edition, a reissue of their memorable debut re-released in 2023 via AFM Records, today, Masterplan are sharing their new single Rise Again – an epic, powerful and harbinger of a new album to follow in the not so distant future.

Founding member and guitarist, Roland Grapow, reveals:
"After almost 10-11 years of silence, we are ready to burst onto the heavy metal scene again. We missed the audience and new emotions.

"This song is about how we felt during the last period. Everything in the world changes so quickly that sometimes it is very difficult to understand where you belong. And it seems that you are talented and worthy of success, but you begin to doubt yourself. And this is a big mistake.

"As usual and in the Masterplan style, we try to be positive and this is the main goal of our creativity. We want to inspire our fans to find the strength to overcome life's challenges. Rise Again is the song about hope, life and better things to come, it's like a phoenix rising from the ashes." More...

Satanic North Reveals Debut Album Details

A new Satanic Panic is on its way! Satanic North is what happens when you let two well-known Finnish metal artists stare into the abyss for too long: Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum, Warmen) and Janne Parviainen (Ensiferum) are well-traveled, experienced musicians who have stared into said abyss long enough for the abyss to stare back with interest at some point. And he liked what he saw: now the new black metal brotherhood Satanic North has announced a self-titled debut that basks in ravishing gloom and will bring the bite back into the genre.

Ten satanic hymns to the night, ten examples of the power of the black flame will be hewn out of the darkness by the Finns and sent into the world on April 19, 2024. The spirits of the past, they stand by Satanic North with a stern face, helping to spread this satanic gospel around the globe.

The album came together quickly and effortlessly, exorcized and recorded during an unholy summer - which of course also shows how urgently this band was needed. "We kept everything very simple and practical. We didn't want to waste too many takes to keep the songs raw and natural," Petri explains. "The mix was completed by the winter solstice and now this beast lies in wait, ready to be unleashed." This will happen in April 2024: Here is an album storming towards us in the sign of hell, delivering an unrelenting, extreme approach to a genre that has perhaps become a little soft and tender of late. "We all have the same vision of black metal, and that vision is: stop the midtempo, let's bring back the blastbeats," Petri chants.

The cover artwork was created by Samuli Ponsimaa, Finntroll's guitarist and graphic mastermind. More...

Allegaeon To Begin Recording New Album Next Month

Allegaeon is set to enter the studio next week alongside original vocalist Ezra Haynes to record their seventh full-length album with longtime producer Dave Otero (Flatline Audio.) Fans can keep up to date with the process via the band's Instagram page, with more content being uploaded through Patreon.

Guitarist Greg Burgess comments: "We are really excited to get back in the studio with Dave and get to work. The album is shaping up to be a strong amalgamation of songs across the discography. Some songs sound like they would be at home on Formshifter and some sound like they are straight off of 'Damnum.' It's a very exciting time to be in Allegaeon and we can't wait for everyone to hear this record."

Adds Haynes; "It has been a decade since I‘ve had the pleasure of creating a full-length album with the boys. The chemistry of this lineup is nothing I‘ve experienced before and there‘s a lot to unpack with this new album. A decade's worth of experiences, and I‘m finally ready to share it with the fine folk of the metal community. 2024 is really shaping up and I couldn‘t be more excited. Here‘s to lucky #7!"
