Firewind Releases "Fallen Angel" Music Video
Power metal titans Firewind, who are currently gearing up for an extensive European and US tour, among new live shows added in the UK and Japan (find all dates and infos listed below!), will release their much-awaited, tenth studio album, entitled "Stand United," on March 1, 2024 via AFM Records.
Following previously-released, first album singles such as "Salvation Day" or the powerful anthem "Come Undone", today, the iconic band formed by guitar legend Gus G (Ozzy Osbourne, Arch Enemy, Dream Evil) has shared a music video for their latest single "Fallen Angel!" Gus G reveals:
"'Fallen Angel' is a song about the eternal battle between good and evil, a song about the temptations of life. There's been so many interpretations of all this.
"Working again with director Rainer 'ZIPP' Franze, we gave a biblical touch on the visuals and there's even some choreography going on, for your viewing pleasure. Musically, I feel there's a good balance of modern and classic Metal elements which is where Firewind should be in 2024." More...
Exhorder Announces New Album
NOLA thrash and groove trailblazers Exhorder have revealed details and plans for the release of their eagerly anticipated 4th full-length record, "Defectum Omnium," that’s due out March 8th from Nuclear Blast Records. Featuring 12 crushing tracks and ominous cover artwork by Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth), the album follows the band’s critically revered 2019 release Mourn The Southern Skies. Fans can pre-order "Defectum Omnium" now!
Commenting on the impending album, vocalist/guitarist Kyle Thomas states:
"It’s been quite a journey for Exhorder since the 2019 release of ‘Mourn the Southern Skies’. Line-up changes as well as the 2020-2021 pandemic and lockdown presented hurdles that weren’t easy to overcome. But we persevered, kept our heads down and went to work with intense focus and real goals. One of those goals was to bring our fourth full length album to our fan base. ‘Defectum Omnium’ is a collaborative effort in songwriting, much as it was in the early days of Exhorder. We produced it ourselves, as we felt no need or desire to bring in anyone from the outside based upon our shared vision. It was also important to us not only to continue the natural progression this band has been in since the early 90’s, but to put a foot back into our roots. The influence punk and hardcore had on this band from getting our start in the New Orleans punk rock scene has a strong presence. We’ve also made sure to keep plenty of our thrash roots as well in our songwriting process.
"But we have also managed to keep our doom roots alive, which first surfaced on the song ‘(Cadence of) the Dirge’ back in 1992. In fact, on one new song we have guest appearances by Rick Wartell and Bruce Franklin from Trouble, and they absolutely killed it!
"From the time that we began pre-production until the actual release date, we can promise you that every bit of ‘Defectum Omnium’ was crafted with great care, and we are really excited about it! Our goal was to make an album that WE loved and gives the experience of a journey, or maybe even a rollercoaster ride effect. We can’t wait to share it with the world!" More...
Leaves Eyes Shares "Realm Of Dark Waves" Video
Symphonic metal Vikings, Leaves' Eyes, have revealed new details about their much-awaited, new album "Myths Of Fate." Slated for a release on March 22, 2024 via AFM Records, the album pre-sale has just started here.
Four years after bringing “The Last Viking” to Valhalla with their previous opus, Leaves' Eyes resurrect with "Myths Of Fate" to celebrate their 20th year of existence. With their ninth studio album under their belt, the Germany-based act consolidates their leading position in the symphonic metal universe. Powerful, epic and impressive - Leaves' Eyes once again merge traditional metal genres by fusing elements of folk, gothic, and classical music into a captivating sonic masterpiece.
With "Myths Of Fate," the band once again set sails for new winds that definitely blow from the harsh shallows of the symphonic metal genre. The fantastic world of legends from Norse and Eastern European mythology is the setting for monumental entertainment. "The early Middle Ages were a fascinating time of change. Some of these innovations have left their mark around the globe and continue to impact our modern world," tells band mastermind and singer Alex Krull.
Leaves' Eyes open up a world of magical places, spellbound weapons or supernatural creatures. With the first, previously-released single and album opening track "Forged By Fire," they raised the magic sword of Tyrfing. In a bombastic double bass blaze, they tell from a deadly weapon crafted and cursed by dwarves to bring misery over its bearers. "These legends always reflected the real-life horrors of those who told them, making them even relatable to modern events of wars and fights," Alex says. Now, Leaves' Eyes have unleashed a music video for their second single, the medieval hymn "Realm Of Dark Waves," that pulls us down into ocean’s desolate depths of Rán, the Goddess of the Sea. This neck-breaker about the sea maiden wife of Ægir is lyrically linked to other Leaves' Eyes hit classics about maritime gods, like "Njord" or "Nine Wave Maidens," rounding off the artist’s entire oeuvre.
Tracklisting:
1. Forged By Fire
2. Realm Of Dark Waves
3. Who Wants To Live Forever
4. Hammer Of The Gods
5. In Eternity
6. Fear The Serpent
7. Goddess Of The Night
8. Sons Of Triglav
9. Elder Spirit
10. Einherjar

Unearthing the Metal Underground: Crucible
Trends come and go, but classic heavy metal has stood the test of time. Some of our metal gods came from Denmark, the young upstarts in Mercyful Fate, including frontman King Diamond of course, and none other than Lars Ulrich. Fast forward to 2024, a few young Danes are proudly waving the flag of heavy metal with their demo "The Savage Weapon," which caught the attention of From The Vaults who are releasing it on January 26. With "The Savage Weapon,” the trio —guitarists Jon Brogård and Thomas Carnell (Impalers), and vocalist Phillip Butler (Pectora)—worships at the altar of traditional metal with so much passion and energy that you can almost smell the denim and leather that they’re wearing. Infected Rain Debuts "Vivarium" Music Video
Moldova's Infected Rain return with their massive sixth modern progressive metal opus, "Time," on February 9, 2024 via Napalm Records! Following their most successful album to date, 2022's "Ecdysis" - which garnered prime media acclaim, hundreds of thousands of streams and views, and debuted in the Top 20 on the US Current Hard Music charts - Infected Rain climbs even higher with "Time."
Trailing their successful latest singles "Never To Return" and "Because I Let You" - which have garnered over a combined half million cross-platform streams and views on Spotify and YouTube alone - the band ushers in 2024 with the eerie, crushingly heavy "Vivarium". The track boasts electro-laced djent rhythms and spine-tingling passages whilst frontwoman Lena Scissorhands warns of so-called freedoms that are not truly free.
Infected Rain says about "Vivarium":
"Vivarium is about feeling trapped in a world we've built ourselves.
A perfect world full of illusion, gimmicks and fake promises, like a beautiful but restricting glass garden.
It's about overcoming these barriers, and seeing through the thick air and tall walls.
This song is for everyone trying to break free from their own limits and create their own path." More...
