Reach the Sky Breaking Up
Sadly, Boston hardcore band Reach The Sky will be calling it quits next month. Over the past six years, the group has put out several releases, including two full-lengths on Victory Records, and toured several continents. Rumors have been circulating for a few weeks, but as of a month ago, the band hadn't made any final decisions regarding their future. However, as time wore on, the group decided it was time to end things, essentially to move on and focus on real jobs. Here's a portion of the band's official statement:
"Simply, it's time for us to move on, get jobs and reconnect with our lives. Spending the better part of six years on the road and away from the people you love and shoving piles of bills to the side, thinking nothing matters but what moves you, but what's in front of you, capturing that feeling you can't get anywhere else; the reality is that it all catches up to you eventually. Some of us will be going back to 'real world' jobs, some of us are getting married, some of us will resurface in bands, but none of us will forget."
The members remain friends and RTS will play a final set of shows with The Promise and Most Precious Blood in February before playing their final show on February 9th at the Palladium in Worcester, MA with Bane, American "Nothing", Most Precious Blood, The Promise, and Some Kind Of Hate. Here are their final shows: More...
Flowing Tears Part with Vocalist
Flowing Tears have parted ways with singer Stefanie Duchene. Stefanie wants to focus on private things in the future and couldn't combine that with the band's touring and recording plans any longer – so both sides decided that it would be the best for all to go separate ways.
To avoid any rumors: this is NOT the end of Flowing Tears – on the contrary: we took this hard decision with the future of the band in mind.
In the meantime we have started testing possible new singers – so everybody who might be interested in becoming Flowing Tears' new voice should send an e-mail with info etc. to: mail@flowingtears.com.

[King Diamond guitarist] Andy [LaRocque] contributed three songs. So most likely there will be 12 songs on the album. However there is a slight possibility a short instrumental song might make it on the album. That is not confirmed at the moment.
"This time there will be no typical intro but an intro song which will be around two minutes [long] and is entitled 'The Sailor' which ends with the words 'Let The Show Begin' before kicking in with the [title track] .... The new songs sound very aggressive but still have a lot of theatrical elements in it," King said. "Expect a lot of double kicks in the songs I wrote." More...

"We were able to rent "Bingen" (a relatively new venue in our hometown, Kristiansand which is located in the same building where most of the bands from our city have their rehearsal rooms) for the drum production. We believe we will use 5-6 days and then bring the production back to the studio where we recorded our first album, Jailhouse Studio," says Tchort in an online studio update. "We did some sound testing of the big room and located the spot where the drums will have the best sound, including the area around the kit for ambient sound. We rig the drum kit and the drummer, Anders, put on new Evans drumheads and tunes his kit before we go through the recording schedule for the coming week. What’s special about this album is that we haven’t rehearsed it at all. It was written during 1 week of pre production in Brown Sound Studio (Stein Roger’s studio) and everyone involved got the CD with the songs 3 weeks prior to this day. " More...
