Single Bullet Theory Signs To Crash
Single Bullet Theory have officially signed with Crash Music Inc. (formerly Pavement records). Pavement was known for some of the best metal bands to emerge like Solitude Aeturnus, Forbidden, Malevolent Creation, & Crowbar. The band hit the studio in Haverstraw New York with James Murphy and Freddy Ordine. The end result is 10 of some of the heaviest METAL to come out in a long time. Have a listen to the flagship track off of the new CD Murder Machines. The track is just rough mixed but you'll get the gist of things. The new CD will be called "Route 666" and is scheduled to be in stores April 22, 03.

Stratovarius Preview MP3s
After threatening downloaders, Stratovarius has made MP3s of two new songs from their upcoming release, Elements Part I, available for download on the band’s official website http://www.stratovarius.com. The songs, “Soul of a Vagabond” and “Find Your Own Voice” are a sample of what to expect, as the band emerges from their three-year hiatus. Also available is a video shot during the rehearsal sessions for Elements Part I and the filming of the “Eagleheart” video clip. The single for “Eagleheart,” which also includes the unreleased track, “Run Away,” is available through Century Media mail-order. The new disc is due February 11th.
Sepsism Sign to From Beyond Productions
California based brutal death/grinders Sepsism have signed to From Beyond productions. At the moment they are completing To Prevail in Disgust, the follow-up to their 1999 debut Purulent Decomposition. The album is scheduled for release in late April 2003.
Manegarm Complete New CD
Swedish Viking heroes Manegarm. have also fully completed their new and promising upcoming full length Dödsfärd at the well-known Underground Studios. On this release there will be even more emphasis on the Viking themes and lyrics! The title is referring to the ancient burials of the Vikings. Belgian artist Kris Verwimp will again take care of the cover art.
Paths of Possession to Release Debut
Paths Of Possession, the new band featuring former Morbid Angel guitarist Richard Brunelle, will release their debut album, Legacy In Ashes, in February through Still Dead Productions. Brunelle described the band's musical direction as "a lot different" (i.e. more melodic) than that of his previous group while still retaining a technical, aggressive edge.
First Single from Damnation and a Day to Hit
Cradle of Filth are about to release their forthcoming album, Damnation And A Day, on March 10th in Europe and the 11th in Canada. A US date is still being confirmed. The album was co-produced by Doug Cook and mixed with Scrap60 and features a 40 piece orchestra and the 32 piece choir (from Budapest). The first single is the track 'Babalon AD (So Glad For The Madness)' and it will be released on February 24th. The video for the track was directed by Wiz and filmed in a derelict Jesuit seminary. Images within the video pay homage to 120 Days of Sodom by the infamous Marquis De Sade, and much original footage has been cut to allow the video to be shown in the UK. Cradle are poised to hit the road in Europe beginning March 23rd in Lyon, France and running through April 23rd in Norwich, England. North American dates will follow.
Withering Surface to Support IF in Turkey
Danish metallers Withering Surgace will support IN Flames at a one-off date in Istanbul, Turkey in mid-March. The group will also embark on a short German tour in April.

Dimension Zero Added to Party San Open
Sweden's Dimension Zero — featuring In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad (on bass), ex-In Flames axeman Glenn Ljungström, ex-Marduk vocalist Jocke Göthberg, Luciferion/Diabolique drummer Hasse Nilsson, and Pathos guitarist Daniel Antonsson — have been confirmed to appear at this year's Party.San Open Air Festival, set to take place Aug. 7-9 in Bad Berka, Germany. Other acts scheduled to appear at the event include Naglfar, Lord Belial, Vader, Behemoth, Malevolent Creation, Tenebre, and Destroyer 666. In other news, the band are currently writing material for their next full-length album, due before the end of the year.
Callenish Circle off No Mercy/Easter Fests
Dutch melodic death metallers Callenish Circle have been officially removed from the lineup of acts performing at this year's No Mercy/Easter Festivals 2003, according to the band's record label, Metal Blade Records. "They got dropped off the tour [by booking agent/promoter] Metallysee because there's too many bands on the bill and the distances between the venues are too far," reads Metal Blade's statement on the matter. "Well, next time someone should think of that before a band gets its confirmation. But that's something neither Callenish Circle nor Metal Blade are responsible for…"
No Mercy/Easter Festivals 2003 will take place in April and will feature performances from Testament, Marduk, Death Angel, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Nuclear Assault, Pro-Pain, Malevolent Creation and Darkane.
Iron Maiden Studio Update
Irom Maiden producer Kevin Shirley, who is currently working with the band at a London studio on their as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2000's Brave New World, has posted the following recording update via his official web site:

Finland's Omnium Gatherum will support Children of Bodom at the following dates:

In other news, the band recently inked a licensing agreement with Hot Rockin' Records for the Japanese release of their full-length debut, Spirits and August Light. The Japanese version will include as a bonus the entire Steal the Light mini-CD.
Soilwork and COB To Embark on European Tour
Sweden's Soilwork and Finland's Children of Bodom will be teaming up for a European tour this spring.
Soilwork's as-yet-untitled new album is tentatively due in April. Children of Bodom's Hate Crew Deathroll, out in Finland since early January, is set to be released in Japan on Feb. 5 via Universal Music, in Sweden on March 10 via Stockholm Records (Universal Group), and in Germany on March 17 via Motor Music (Universal Group). A North American release date has yet to be announced.

Black Cross Sign to Equalvision
Louisville, Kentucky's Black Cross, formerly known as Black Widows, has officially signed on to Equal Vision Records.
"After many months of attempting to resolve issues with their name, Black Widows has officially changed their name to Black Cross," a press release confirmed. "There are currently several bands with the name Black Widows, including an English band formed decades ago, and a band from Queens, NY that actually applied for the Black Widows trademark, so continuing to utilize the old name would have most likely caused problems in the future."
"We have changed the name to Black Cross. We mean no reference to the song by Bob Dylan, the Anarchist collective, the speed pills, or to any religious indetifications with the word 'cross,'" stated the band on the name change. "Just a name, plain and simple." More...
