Finntroll Streaming Live Track

Finntroll will release "Natten Med De Leavande Finntroll" ("Night with the living Finntroll") this coming Tuesday June 17th as a digital download. Today Decibel Magazine's Deciblog is hosting a stream of the song "Ursvamp." Check it out below.

Since its inception in 1997, Helsinki's Finntroll has been one of the strangest and most original entities on the international folk/heathen metal scene. One of the most unexpected success stories in extreme metal, these outlandish oompah oddballs have paved way for countless succeeding pagan metal acts, becoming a key act in conceiving the scene that these days virtually dominates the European metal festival stages.

"Natten Med De Leavande Finntroll" shows the band as witnessed onstage at Amsterdam's Melkweg Concert Hall on September 20th, 2008. The track listing is:

01. Kitteldags
02. Slaget Vid Blodsälv

Until now there has never been an official Finntroll live recording available anywhere. Finally, Tuesday June 17th will witness the uncaging of the live album "Natten Med De Levande Finntroll" ("Night with the living Finntroll"), the exhibit of what a cadre of alcohol-fueled trolls can do when leashed upon a live audience.

This is Finntroll in full flight as witnessed onstage at Amsterdam's Melkweg Concert Hall on September 20th, 2008. The track listing is:

70,000 Tons Of Metal: Day One

It seemed like one year had passed in a blink of an eye. No sooner had I experienced my first 70,000 Tons of Metal, which included a birthday that saw Helloween, Rage (w/Lingua Mortis Orchestra) and Metal Church play, than I was plotting my next adventure on the high seas. The floating festival is not only the most unique and phenomenal metal sojourns in the world, its boasts a diverse genre spanning 40+ bands. Though the 2013 installment represented an array of bands more geared towards my personal favorite tastes, a “Barge to Hell” like fog is built up around this year with Carcass, Obituary, Massacre, Death: DTA Tours, Satyricon, Terrorizer among a few which has swung the pendulum towards a harsher environment. For the traditional and power styles there is return act and “athletic rock” legends Raven, German euro power and proclaimed “happy metal” act Freedom Call, German symphonic metallers Xandria, Israeli symphonic ambassadors of peace Orphaned Land and the 700 piece traveling city Haggard, which single handedly make this 71,000 Tons of Metal. Finntroll To Tour With Blackguard, Metsatoll

The trolls of Nordic folklore are believed to be dirty creatures of enormous strength and appetite. Their grotesque physique grants them a comic element, although the humor tends to be on the grim side as these nocturne beings hunger for human flesh. Unsurprisingly, this has earned them a rather bad reputation.

All things considered, Finntroll are the perfect embodiment of all aforementioned sentiments - although one might want to replace the hunger for human meat with an unquenchable thirst for booze. Catch the trolls on tour in November/December with Blackguard & Metsatoll:
