Moonspell Debuts "Cross Your Heart" Video
Portuguese dark metal pioneers Moonspell return with "Cross Your Heart," the next haunting chapter from their forthcoming studio album, "Far From God," which will be released on 3rd July via Napalm Records. You can check out the video below.
"Cross Your Heart" follows the release of the album title track "Far From God" which received an overwhelmingly positive response from fans worldwide, with both the single and its official music video rapidly gaining strong streaming numbers across platforms. Where "Far From God" explored tragic vampiric romance and the spiritual decay of modern Gothic metal, "Cross Your Heart" turns its gaze toward the endless roads that connect and separate us. Blending the classic atmosphere of the band’s legendary Irreligious era with a modern and sharper edge, the song unfolds as a dark, melancholic and emotionally gripping anthem. Driven by brooding melodies, grounded riffing and emotional depth, "Cross Your Heart" pairs Fernando Ribeiro’s unmistakable vocals with a reflection on mortality, memory and the fragile nature of life spent in motion.
Fernando Ribeiro comments on the track: "Reminiscent of 'Irreligious' with a modern and dark twist, this Gothic metal song tells us about the shrines that we can frequently find on the roads of all countries in the world and that are erected as a painful memory to those who departed in car and bike crashes, often too soon, every time too painfully. Like a band who made miles upon miles and a few crashes themselves, we are privileged observers of the daily and nightly life on the roads, the promised cities, the bitter disappointments, the anguish of a portable life. Before such powers we can only cross our heart and hope to live enough before our time does come." More...
Moonspell To Release New Album In July
Portuguese Gothic metal pioneers Moonspell have released a music video for the first single and title track of their upcoming studio album "Far From God," offering a first glimpse into what promises to be one of the band’s most defining offerings to date. "Far From God" will be released on 3rd July via Napalm Records. You can check it out below.
Born out of five years of creative searching, doubt and ultimate rediscovery, the album marks a powerful return for the band. Far from playing it safe, Moonspell delivers a work that feels like a rebirth: darker, sharper and emotionally unfiltered. Rather than bending to modern trends, the band double down on identity and substance, presenting a bold and beautiful statement of Gothic Metal in its purest form: dark, romantic, dramatic and unapologetically heavy.
The first single, "Far From God," sets the tone with burning intensity. A hymn to tragic vampiric love, the song revives the mystique and romantic darkness that once defined the genre, while layered keyboards subtly expand the atmosphere without softening its heaviness. Dense guitars, deep resonant vocals and dramatic dynamic shifts evoke a timeless gothic aesthetic, restoring danger and elegance to the narrative of the vampire.
Vocalist Fernando Ribeiro comments on the track: "I lost my faith and hope in vampires for quite a few years. They became the clowns of Hollywood, the cheap Halloween shop customs, the old and disgraceful Princes from the East. Until the film director Robert Eggers brought us Nosferatu in 2024 and I was immediately attracted back to that tragic, romantic character who Bram Stoker immortalised in his letters. I wrote 'Far from God' in just one breath and it’s our first song about vampiric love in ages. I confess I felt the urge of, together with Moonspell, saving the face of Gothic metal which became hostage of semi-tuned operatic female vocalists, simpleton and crunchy guitar riffs; and of lyrical content that would make Dracula impale himself with a stake in his bloodless heart. This song is the essence of this album, its title, its video, its soul. And you can even feel the fire of daylight burning into yours and your lover’s skin." More...

Dark Tranquillity Signals The Endtimes In London
It's been an exciting month for metal fans in the UK. Not only are we getting the same great new releases as the rest of the world, but there's a number of huge shows happening in London in November. We already saw what happened when Kamelot came to town, but Turkish giants Mezarkabul (aka Pentagram) are performing their first British show this month and Sepultura will be saying farewell to the British isles. If that wasn't enough, one of the pioneering names of melodic death metal, Dark Tranquillity, rolled into Islington to promote their stellar new album, "Endtime Signals," and they brought one hell of a lineup with them.
Fans poured into the Islington Academy as quickly as they could, all excited by what promised to be a fantastic night of music and sure enough, things got off to the perfect start when German quintet Hiraes opened proceedings. Having not long released their sophomore album, "Dormant," a record well worth your time and a great improvement on their debut, "Solitary," I was eager to see how the band were in the live setting. Right off the bat, they attacked the crowd with a pulverising sound, thumping the chests of all in attendance. It's clear that this isn't just a new project for the members, it's a work of real passion and they demonstrate that whole heartedly on stage, with Britta Görtz engaging everyone wonderfully through a mix of warm humility and death metal furor, before bringing the music right to the audience by climbing the barricade and screaming at them. This was a great advert for the band, with whom no doubt a good chunk of the crowd were unfamiliar with, putting themselves over big time and making them a new addition to many playlists. More...

Seventh Storm Announces Debut Album Release Date
Being the timekeeper of Portugal’s most important metal band Moonspell for nearly 30 years, Mike Gaspar has finally settled on a new outlet with which to celebrate his love for heavy metal, his cultural heritage, and his passion for untamed, feral music with roots reaching deep into the fabric of our world. Now barely a year after announcing their inception, Seventh Storm will unleash their debut album "Maledictus" on August 12th, 2022 via Atomic Fire Records.
The omnipresence of death in the midst of blooming life and creativity is at the centre of the band. Here we see a hungry combo arise that has given their soul for their music. "My dream essentially was to try and bring back a bit of that innocent nineties touch. And to mix traditional Portuguese music with metal," Gaspar explains.
With influences ranging from Bathory via Samael, Tiamat, Paradise Lost, Fields of the Nephilim, Cradle of Filth and Dead Can Dance to even Van Halen or Mötley Crüe, Seventh Storm are only just embarking on a journey across the wild and wondrous waters of heavy metal history. And while not a concept album, "Maledictus" - graced by an atmospheric painting from Victor Costa - is tied together by a strong sense of pain and anger, paired with a flickering hope of forgiveness for our lives.
Recorded at Dynamix Studios in Lisbon in May and October 2021, with mixing duties handled by icon Tue Madsen, Seventh Storm completed their debut within a year after Gaspar’s departure from Moonspell – a demonstration of sheer willpower. He remembers: "On the 25 of April of 2021 I announced my new band – the day the Portuguese dictatorship ended back in 1974. We felt it would be a strong message to announce the band on that date." For him and his band of buccaneers alike, "Maledictus" is a new beginning. "It’s our grand stand," he says. "This is us showing that not all is lost. That our past was not in vain. We are here to stay!"
So cast off, and watch out for the first single and the pre-order of "Maledictus" that will start in a only a few weeks from now. More...
Moonspell Announces North American Tour Dates

Tickets are now on sale now, see below for all dates.
Since their formation 30 years ago, the Portuguese band has taken the international heavy music scene by storm, followed by a monumental journey through an impressive, enthralling yet varying back catalogue of thirteen records, earning their place as one of the most distinctive dark metal artists of all time. But playing live has always been the motor of the band. For the first time since the world went into lockdown, and in addition to their extensive touring schedule throughout Europe this year, the band satiates the hunger of the wolfpack by announcing an upcoming tour of North America.

Paradise Lost And Moonspell Decimate Manchester
As some (mostly British) people will be aware, this week, the grey and frowning island of the United Kingdom has been bleaker than usual over the last few days after being battered by Storm Eunice. With howling winds, pouring rain and temperatures that would make polar bears think twice, this was the perfect setting for the greatest pairing of Gothic icons since Robert Smith played for Siouxie And The Banshees, as Paradise Lost and Moonspell rolled into Manchester for a dream lineup.
Unlike some fortunate venues, there was no Alunah opening tonight, so instead there was plenty of time for people to join a queue (as we Brits love to do!) and pick up merchandise before Portugal's darkest musical export Moonspell took to the stage. As one might expect, there was a strong showing from their most recent effort, "Hermitage," which included the opening number "The Greater Good," as well as mid set numbers "The Hermit Saints" and "Apophthegmata." These new cuts were received well but it should come as no surprise that staples like "Opium" and "Extinct" were greeted with a significantly warmer response. More...

Moonspell: Bringing Halloween Home
In the age where livestream shows are becoming the closest thing we have to going to gigs again, the audience has an idea of what to expect. Normally, viewers think that they'll be tuning into a glorified rehearsal, where the band sound tight, but with no one around to cheer. While this does give a more intimate atmosphere (who wouldn't want to hang out with their favourite bands while they run through tracks?) there are plenty of fans who miss the spectacle of a live performance. If ever there was a band that wasn't going to half ass their livestream though, it was Moonspell.
Originally meaning to take place on Halloween night, the Portuguese metal ambassadors were forced to move their show back by a few days, though naturally, it proved to be worth the wait. Those who logged in were treated to a vast selection of songs from the extensive Moonspell catalogue, from their debut "Wolfheart" to their sophomore classic "Irreligious," to the epic concept album, "1755." Appropriately enough for the beginning of the show, it was "Vampira" and "Wolfshade (A Werewolf Masquerade)" which kicked things off. It's been twenty six years since "Wolfheart" hit the shelves but these songs definitely haven't lost their bite or their spirit and sound as fresh as ever, something which can be said of any of the classics and gems brought out on the night. Both beautifully crafted songs, previously released singles such as "The Greater Good" show us the modernity of the wolves in 2021, while "Common Prayers" embraces the Moonspell tradition of writing a dark, gothic metal track like no other band can. Now, the band is presenting us a third single ahead of the album release. "All Or Nothing" brings back the ethereal and melodic sounds of Moonspell served by a beautiful musical landscape, and makes it most likely one of the deepest and most sincerely heart-breaking tunes the Portuguese dark metal titans have ever written.
"The video for ’All Or Nothing‘ was recorded in an empty theatre in Portugal and it‘s symbolic of our days,” Ribeiro tells us. "Solitude dominates our lives and we divide our attentions and heartbeats at the groove of darkness and hope. At the mercy of all that can be and the nothing that we have to deal with right now. It‘s a song that relies on a more intimate melodic frame, emotional, autobiographic almost, about the joy and the sorrow that is being in a band."
He continues: "Life is a game you cannot win. You just have to play. Our job is done, we brought you joy. Every now and then."
