Former Vicious Rumors Singer Returns To The Band

Get well Ronny, welcome home Brian!

On July 24th within 5 hours of catching a flight to Germany to perform with Vicious Rumors singer Ronny Munroe cancelled by text message. The band still doesn't really know what happened. It must be bad because he won't take phone calls. He released a statement asking for privacy so the band won't try to pressure him for details and they ask that everyone please respect his wishes.

A few days later another text came in, officially stepping down from Vicious Rumors due to medical reasons. All this was a real shock to the band. Vicious Rumors would like to wish Ronny a full and speedy recovery.

With major festival commitments the band called on their former lead singer Brian Allen who within 24 hours picked up 16 songs and totally killed it at the legendary Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany.

Geoff Thorpe: "Brian really saved the day! To find out Ronny was injured and wasn't coming a few hours before his flight was bad enough. It puts us in panic mode for sure... half the band was already in Germany. Brian stepped in like he never left and we had a kick ass show! "

Geoff adds further: "The promoter of the Headbangers Open Air said it was one of the best shows in the 25 year history of the festival"

After the last text from Ronny stepping down it's time to move on. Brian Allen is back! No shows will be cancelled, a new album is on the way. This will be Brian's 3rd studio album along with 1 live album and a live DVD.

Brujeria Drummer Diagnosed With Kidney Failure

British metal drumming legend Nick Barker, known as the drummer of Brujeria and Shining and formerly of Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth and Lock Up, has been diagnosed with kidney failure. A crowdfunder has been launched to help the musician, which can be found here. Brandi Campanile, who is handling the GoFundMe campaign, revealed his condition thusly:

"As many noticed, back in 2022, Nick was hospitalized several times… a couple of these times while on tour. During these visits, it was discovered that he was losing kidney function. With determination, he tried to continue caring for himself while maintaining the tours and his musical career. His life has been dedicated to it along with his daughters. Both of which are his life blood.

"Unfortunately, it has all taken its toll and the kidneys are in full failure. With all things, he has been going through this the best he can, on his own. After giving so much of himself to his music, to us, his friends and fans. He now needs us as he cannot currently work due to the dialysis schedule and focusing on his health."

Barker is perhaps Britain's most in demand metal drummer, having not only recorded albums with Brujeria, Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Lock Up and Monolith, as well as the new, eponymous album from Shining which will be released in September, but has also performed as a live drummer for such bands as Exodus, Testament, Anaal Nathrakh, Possessed, Nuclear Assault and Venom Inc. among many others. "It is with shattered hearts & the deepest sorrow that we tell you our dear brother and bandmate Ryan Siew passed away on the morning of Monday June 19. He was 26 years old, and for 10 incredible years he was our best friend and artistic soulmate. Those years will never be enough. He was kindhearted and clever, he was funny and brave and creative, and he was talented beyond all measure. He loved art, and beauty in all its forms. He loved great food in great company. He loved Harry Potter and psych-thrillers and crime documentaries. He loved music, more diversely than you could ever imagine, and spoke its language in ways that only the rarest among us do. And most of all, he loved & adored his family & friends. He was also much admired and beloved by so many. Ryan, we will love and miss you for the rest of our days, and we will never fill the hole that you leave in all of our lives.

"Our hearts are with his family first and foremost, but also with all those whose lives he touched. We ask that you please respect the wishes of Ryan’s family for privacy at this time, and likewise that you give us, our team and family the space to grieve & attempt to heal from this immeasurable loss. We know that you will be grieving with us and that we, and our community, will hold each other through this.

"In loving memory of Ryan Siew

Original Saint Vitus Bassist Dies Aged 64

Mark Adams, the original bassist of doom metal legends Saint Vitus, has sadly died from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was sixty four years old. Guitarist Dave Chandler commented on his former bandmate's passing with the following message:

"This is the hardest thing I've ever had to write. I found out last night. I can't say it out loud. I'm heartbroken to inform everyone that my best friend and co - founder of Saint Vitus Mark Adams has passed away. The details are vague, as I haven't actually spoken with the family yet. He left us May 23 2023 peacefully in his sleep. I'm trying to contact anyone in the family to find out more.
Mark was the best person I've ever met. He was kind to everyone, even those who did him wrong. Never had a bad word to say about anyone. Always found the good in everything no matter how bad it was. A great guy to be around. Nothing will ever be the same.

"God bless you my dear friend. I love you."

Adams co-founded Saint Vitus in 1978 along with Chandler and drummer Armando Acosta, staying with the band throughout their first two runs, as well as the short return in 2003. He and Chandler would once again reform Saint Vitus in 2008, who has continued to perform to this day. In 2016, he stepped away from the band to deal with health issues, with his place being filled by Down and former Crowbar and Goatwhore bassist Pat Bruders, who would soon become his permanent replacement.

The Agonist Announces Break Up

Canadian metal band The Agonist has announced that after nineteen years, six albums and three EPs, they have come to the decision to end the band. A statement from the group reads as follows:

"Dear friends, it's time to make a very difficult but necessary announcement.

"We have decided that The Agonist as a band, has come to an end. Much deliberation and care has been put into making this decision, and unfortunately, given the circumstances, this is the conclusion that makes the most sense for the band and us as individuals.

"There are many factors that led to this decision. It is a mix of personal, financial and industry related issues, but in the end the 5 of us are no longer able to agree on a way forward that would benefit The Agonist business as a whole, while respecting each member's personal lives and wishes.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to the fans for coming out to the shows, buying our merch, and supporting us over the years. Nothing is more satisfying than connecting with our fellow human beings via the gift of music. It is the number one factor that has always driven us- to make you, the listener, feel something. In the end, we know that we've accomplished this together.

"Some members of the band will continue to work on music in various ways, others will focus on personal projects and family. We kindly ask you to respect their privacy on this particular matter and encourage you to follow them on their individual social media accounts to support their future endeavors. More...
