Thy Art Is Murder Reveal Their New Frontman Live In Oberhausen, Germany
Amid a wave of controversy, it appears that Australian deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder has introduced Tyler Miller, known for his work with Aversions Crown, as their new vocalist. The band surprised fans by digitally releasing their latest album "Godlike" with newly re-recorded vocals by the then-unidentified musician. This change was made without prior notice.
The decision to part ways with their former frontman CJ McMahon came as a result of his increasingly controversial statements on various topics, including gender identity, which had caused division among the band's fanbase. While some criticized the band for appearing to give in to pressure, the band defended their decision by stating that McMahon's comments were just one of several incidents that had strained their relationship with him.
Thy Art Is Murder made the announcement of McMahon's departure in conjunction with the release of "Godlike."
While announcing McMahon‘s firing, the band explained:
“We understand that this may come as a surprise and we want to assure you that this decision was made to preserve the band’s integrity and direction.
What transpired over the past month was not the cause of this action, but just another symptom of the drawn out breakdown in his character and judgement. The straw that broke the camels back if you will long story short the fallout has been immense.
We were lobbed with threats to destroy Thy Art Is Murder from the inside if we did not capitulate to various ideologies that he holds. Everyone has their own right to free speech and to seek their truth; they are also free to receive the consequences that come with it.”
Since CJ McMahon's departure from Thy Art Is Murder, the situation has escalated on social media. McMahon claimed that he was coerced into making an apology video and expressed his surprise at the band's decision to replace his vocals on the album.
This controversy has resulted in a divided and confrontational fanbase, with heated arguments occurring in the comments sections of both the band and McMahon's social media profiles. Notably, physical copies of the album still contain McMahon's original vocal tracks.
Although Thy Art Is Murder has not officially confirmed Tyler Miller as their new vocalist, all indications strongly suggest his involvement. It remains uncertain whether Miller's vocals will replace McMahon's on future physical copies of the record.
Thy Art Is Murder unveiled their new vocalist during their live performance on September 27th in Oberhausen, Germany, marking the beginning of their European/UK tour with Whitechapel, Fit For An Autopsy, and Spite.
