Ill Nino Drop Off Of Soulfly Tour

ILL NINO have reportedly dropped off the remaining dates on the SOULFLY U.S. tour following an altercation between current SOULFLY guitarist Marc Rizzo (ex-ILL NINO) and ILL NINO frontman Cristian Machado after the two bands' joint appearance in Royal Oak, MI this past Sunday (Sept. 5). According to several eyewitness accounts, the fight erupted as a result of onstage remarks made by Machado denouncing bands with "rock star" attitudes — comments which were believed to have been directed at SOULFLY. Rizzo reportedly confronted Machado behind the club's backstage area where the ILL NINO bus was parked and physically attacked the singer until the two were separated. An official statement from Roadrunner Records regarding the matter is expected later today (Sept. 8). One fan's unsubstantiated account of what transpired Sunday night can be found at this location. Cristian's version of the incident (as reported by a friend) can be found here.

Bassist Timothy Gaines Leaves Stryper

After much prayer, deep consideration, conversations, and deliberation, it has been decided, by all four of the original members of Stryper, that bassist Timothy Gaines will not be performing with the band during any upcoming concerts.

This was not an easy decision for anyone involved. The four recently convened to discuss this very heartfelt and difficult topic. The departure was an amicable one on behalf of everyone.

Timothy Gaines was not asked to leave the band, nor was there a ceremonious resignation. It was simply a decision made by all parties, in an effort to individually preserve their respective calling, personally and professionally.

Management has requested that the fans respect each member throughout what has been a difficult process. While a decision such as this one can often lend itself to speculation, idle rumors, and public discussions, we instead ask that you respect everyone involved, keep them in your prayers, and refrain from negative exchange, both privately and publicly.

A replacement bass player will be named on a show by show basis until further notice.

Words of encouragement (for all of the members, individually and collectively) may be directed through Deep South Entertainment at Stryper@DeepSouthEntertainment.com and will be passed along as best possible to the respective members.

New Extol Line-up Revealed

Norwegian metallers Extol have posted this message on their official website:

We are proud to present the new Extol members!

After our two guitarists (Ole and Christer) left the band in February this year, we pretty much found ourselves standing on bare ground in the search for new, dedicated members, but also in the direction to take musically. The vision of the band burned stronger than ever, and so we needed guitarists and songwriters who were willing to give their all for Extol and that would fit into the band on a more personal level as well.

It's therefore our privilege to announce Tor Glidje and Ole Halvard Sveen as the new, permanent guitarists in Extol. As many of you already know, Tor already contributed in Extol on bass and guitar throughout the Undeceived era, and both he and Ole Halvard are considered the masterminds behind the black metal cult act Lengsel and the super-energic rock-band Ganglión. We are deeply honored to have them in our unit and hereby we welcome them into the Extol-family.

The new line-up has proven very successful so far, as we have been working closely together the last five months on Extol's fourth full-length album. We are currently finding ourselves in Antfarm Studio in Denmark, where we are mixing the new material and adding the final touch to the album.

Pain Confessor Finish New Video

Finland's Pain Confessor have posted this message on their official website:

One hellish day of moshing and ravaging a woman in cold water is now behind us, sun has set and only thing left in our minds now is exitement. We are exited to see the finished video because today certainly let us believe there is some pretty metallish stuff coming out from all this.

We were fortunate to get such a great production crew as Vesa Vainio's Vasara Productions that has also done a video for Mokoma, one of the best thrashy metal acts hailing from Finland.

The rest of the week sees Vesa and his crew to patch up the video material and our guests at the Album Release Party @ Metropol, HML, shall see the premiere of the, hopefully, finished music video.

"Lake of Regret" comes off the band's debut album, "Turmoil," which is being released today (Sept. 8) through Megamania Records. You can download the track "Soul Eraser" from the album here (Mp3 - 8.8 MB).
