Katatonia Debuts "Temporal" Lyric Video

Swedish masters of melancholic metal, Katatonia, has unveiled the second new single from their upcoming album, "Nightmares As Extensions Of The Waking State," out June 6, 2025 via Napalm Records! "Temporal" balances fragility and strength - its intense verses culminating in a soaring, emotionally charged chorus. The track arrives with a beautiful lyric video.

Even after more than 30 years, Katatonia continues to redefine the emotional spectrum of the genre, effortlessly shifting between haunting vulnerability and commanding artistry. Katatonia's music is pure and heartfelt from the northern wilderness; cast in mournful dirges for a world that needs a renaissance. Secure your copy of Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State now and check out the lyric video for "Temporal" below!

Jonas Renkse comments:
"'Temporal,' when the enchantment is gone. When riffing is on, the combination offers no solace other than the pleasure of the vicious circle & the colours of the night. Enjoy." More...

Scardust To Release New Album In July

Progressive symphonic metal band Scardust are thrilled to announce the release of their anticipated new studio album "Souls," out on July 18th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The band has also shared the new single and accompanying official video, “Dazzling Darkness," which can be seen below.

The band commented on the new album by saying: "'Souls' is a deep personal journey for us, combining everything from intricate progressive elements to sweeping symphonic passages, anthemic choruses and epic choirs. This album is a milestone for the band. It contains the Scardust DNA while experimenting with different writing and composing methods, involving every single musician in the band, resulting in the creation of the next evolution of our sound and pushing the boundaries of what we can express through music.

"Thematically we’ve explored ideas of memory, belonging, loss, and the desire for connection, weaving in influences from different musical worlds, including orchestral, Mediterranean, and even Celtic sounds," they added. "'Souls' is our most ambitious album to date, incorporating Scardust’s signature technical musicianship, and featuring the Hellscore choir and a string quartet throughout the entire album plus guest appearances from some international top tier musicians like Ross Jennings (Haken), Ally Storch (Subway to Sally), a Turkish orchestra and the TLV orchestra. It’s bold, it’s emotional and we hope it resonates deeply wherever it is heard." More...

Venom Inc. Silences The Critics In London

Metal fans love two things; Metal, and complaining about metal. Whilst the genre has some of the most loyal and devoted fans, it's nigh on impossible to go to a gig without hearing someone say "They used to be better" or "I only like their old stuff," and when it comes to online interactions between fans, forget it. Since their inception, Venom Inc. has had to deal with such negativity and with the recent departure of guitarist Mantas, the naysayers rubbed their hands in glee. But it's important to remember that they're not, and never were, a tribute act. Venom Inc. write songs of their own in addition to playing older Venom material, mostly from the Demolition Man era, and so when the band announced their headlining tour of Europe, with a rich lineup of support acts, it was both a test to see who would put their conceptions aside, and an invitation to what promised to be a great night.

The London stop of the tour was held at the 229, a relatively small but decent venue named after their address on Great Portland Street. Opening the show was Chilean born trio Ater, originally from Santiago and now residing in the USA. Going on at six on a Monday evening is a tough ask for anyone, but for those who arrived early, they were able to witness something very different, and very interesting. There's an air of mystery and enigma about them, and it's difficult to pinpoint their sub-genre, if indeed there is one, which makes their material all the more intriguing. The music is extreme and confrontational, but very atmospheric and moody, helped in no small part by the lighting, something we take for granted as fans. Ater are best experienced for one's self due to their challenging nature, and hopefully when they return to the UK, there'll be a lot more people there to witness them. One to watch for sure.
