Exuvial Releases "Autonomic Awakening" Video
Progressive metal outfit Exuvial is poised to make waves in the metal scene by announcing their debut concept album "The Hive Mind Chronicles Part I: Parasitica" set for release on November 22, 2024. This ambitious project marks the first installment of a planned trilogy, promising listeners an immersive journey through themes of science fiction, human nature, and our complex relationship with AI and technology.
The band's lyrical content draws inspiration from various sources, including iconic science fiction films like Contact, Alien, and The Matrix, as well as video games such as Metroid. These influences have shaped Exuvial's unique approach to storytelling, exploring themes of extraterrestrial intelligence, existential dilemmas, and the limits of human understanding. The band comments on what’s in store:
"We love concept albums, so we approached this project with intentionality, carefully considering which elements could be reintroduced in various forms to tie it all together. Additionally, we aimed to blend elements of progressive metal, black metal, and technical death metal, allowing the songs to dynamically ramp up or down. This approach lets the parts breathe, giving each musical passage the space to develop fully and resonate. By doing so, we create an ebb and flow within the tracks, providing intense, high-energy sections while also incorporating moments of calm and reflection. This contrast not only enhances the emotional impact of the music but also ensures that each element can be appreciated in its own right."
Today, the band unveils their latest music video for the single "Autonomic Awakening". The song marks a pivotal moment in the album's story, offering a glimmer of hope and a chance to shift the tides of the conflict within its tale. Musically, the track aims to capture a somber yet hopeful mood, leading up to the album's climax.
Guitarist Fernando del Valle III adds:
"Autonomic Awakening mirrors its lyrical journey with an introspective start featuring acoustic guitars and soft snare percussion, evoking beauty and contemplation. The mood shifts abruptly to a darker 5/8 passage, erupting into distortion and intense screams alongside double-picked tech death riffs.
"Verses unfold with melodic double-picked guitars, alternating with breaks of beautiful clean vocal harmonies that convey the struggle against inner turmoil. The song progresses into expansive sections of big chords and locked-in grooves, showcasing a melodic guitar solo that reflects moments of clarity amidst chaos.
"Evolution continues with groovy syncopated rhythms and atmospheric synths amidst odd-time signatures, followed by chunky riffs and dynamic drum fills that build to a satisfying groove. Piano and vocals enrich the composition, leading into melodic clean vocal harmonies over a groovy melodic progression, culminating in a poignant guitar solo and dual harmonies. The track concludes with gentle acoustics and piano, capturing the song's journey through contrasting emotions." More...

Italy’s parody metal icons Nanowar Of Steel recently announced the release of their live album, "XX Years of Steel," out December 6, 2024 via Napalm Records! Recorded during their sold-out performance at Alcatraz in Milan in October 2023, which drew 3,000 fans, this landmark live album celebrates two decades of fusing humor with metal. Nanowar Of Steel on the new single "The Power of Imodium":
"In times of need, when our digestion fails and we cannot hold our inner self anymore, ‘The Power of Imodium’ is the only power that can save us. Impellitteri Debuts "Wrath Child" Music Video
conic metallers Impellitteri share a magnetic new single entitled "Wrath Child" taken from the band's new album - "War Machine" out November 8th via Frontiers Music Srl. The lightning-quick track is accompanied by a music video, available below.
About the new track and its video, Chris Impellitteri stated:
"Our fans get to see the people involved in making this album, the equipment we used, and the team in action!
"Next, WTF is with this song title – ha, ha! It’s definitely been used by the mighty Maiden. In all sincerity, we were writing about the wrath yielded by a child imprisoned by greed and power. Once he is freed from his demons, his mighty wrath is then bestowed upon those corruptive forces…hence, our wrath child.
"We were going to change the title, but then we thought: “F### it” - as it is a cool nod to Maiden for them scaring the S### out of us with their album covers when we were kids! On a serious note, the world just lost the amazing Paul Di’Anno from Maiden who will always be a legendary singer and force in the history of Metal!! God bless! We all will cherish those early albums with Paul!
"Regarding the music: The song was built off this very simple yet aggressive riff and chorus that at times sounds a bit reminiscent of Thrash. Once again, Paul Bostaph and James Pulli laid down a beastly foundation to let me rip on my guitar and for Rob to scream his head off. Paul definitely played some insane drum fills which only he can do, whilst bassist James kept the song driving from start to finish!
"The team behind this music were engineers Mike Plotnikoff, Jun Murakawa, and Jacob Hansen…and an amazing staff at all of the recording studios!
"We hope everyone has a bit of fun with this track!" More...
Imha Tarikat Shares New Digital Single
Imha Tarikat has dropped a new, short and bitter digital single "Murderflesh." The rising German black metal force is releasing this off-album track as an exclamation mark in advance of the Autumn leg of their European tour. "Murderflesh" is also a first taste of new great things to come next year, although the track will not appear on the next full-length. You can check it out below.
"Our new song 'Murderflesh' deals with bitter and furious emotions", mastermind Kerem Yilmaz reveals. "Desperate and hopeless for change, grasping for anything in the world to outgrow suffering, some will resort to extremes. In doing so, many lose pieces of themselves that they can never retrieve. Criminals, addicts, the corrupt, fanatics, apostates, and whoever you care to name – all committ murder on themselves, within their flesh, and to the flesh of others." More...

BornBroken Debuts "Am I Invisible" Video
Canada’s BornBroken recently released their third album "Am I Invisible" this past September and to keep the momentum up, they are now releasing the music video for the title track directed by Chris Kells of The Agonist. This pummeling display of death and thrash metal complements the visceral and provocative lyrics the band members work hard to craft. They share their thoughts:
"We wanted to use our music to call for unity and empathy. This album is not just a collection of songs; it’s a message, a call to action for anyone who feels unheard or unseen. We’ve always aimed to create music that tells a story, and ‘Am I Invisible’ is our most ambitious story yet. The themes of invisibility, isolation, and resilience are universal, and we wanted to convey them through powerful lyrics and compelling music."

Great American Ghost Reveals New Album Details
Upholding an uncompromising vision with clear intention, Great American Ghost know exactly what they want to say about their community, the greater world around them, and humanity as a species.
Today the band announce "Tragedy Of The Commons," their fourth full-length offering and SharpTone Records debut, set for release 31st January 2025.
Great American Ghost have also unveiled the new single "Lost In The Outline," which you can check out below.
On the Will Putney produced record, Great American Ghost transmit their message without filter delivered through a combination of basement-born hardcore spirit, staggering metallic precision, polemic lyrical provocations, and unexpectedly arresting melodies.
Set on examining our basest instincts as a society, vocalist Ethan Harrison expands: "We are a political band, and we always have been. We integrate ‘extreme views’ into what we do, which is ‘extreme music’. Rather than write another generally political album, we tried to play into broader themes of hopelessness. Normal people are losing control on a constant basis. 'Tragedy Of The Commons' is a statement about exploitation. If two people share finite resources, one person will eventually exploit those resources and hurt the other person. Citizens don’t have enough money to eat and live in this country, but our government is spending billions on funding other armies around the world that are being used to kill other poor people. 'Tragedy Of The Commons' boils down to this fundamental exploitation of the less fortunate." More...

Three Members Of As I Lay Dying Quit
Last Friday, As I Lay Dying bassist Ryan Neff made the news by announcing his departure from the band, just weeks before the release of their new album, "Through Storms Ahead." Following the announcement, it was confirmed that tour manager Alex Kendrick "no longer works for" the band. Today, As I Lay Dying has been rocked by further departures, with guitarist Ken Susi first announcing his resignation with the following social media message.
""My time playing with As I Lay Dying has come to an end today. I leave with so much gratitude for everyone who followed and supported me from my days in Unearth to this era of my career. I jumped into the AILD camp with full knowledge of the heightened dramatic history but had a drive to just play great music with great friends.
"Unfortunately, my personal morals have recently been tested to a breaking point, and it's now the saddest ending to what could have been the greatest second chance for this band.
"Ryan Neff is receiving a lot of backlash for stepping down first, and I regret not sharing this decision sooner and standing confidently with my friend -- he's a flawless musician and an even better person.
"I'll miss you all on this stage, and I look forward to seeing you on the next one. Anyone looking for a guitar player? My resume is ready."
Also today, drummer Nick Pierce announced that he was also quitting, stating: More...
InnerWish Shares New Lyric Video "Soul Asunder"
Greek metal band InnerWish are gearing up for the highly anticipated release of their new album, "Ash Of Eternal Flame," due out on November 8, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). As a final teaser ahead of the album's release, the band unveils their powerful new single, "Soul Asunder," today. The track's poignant lyrics underscore the vital importance of mental health and self-care - topics that remain regrettably underappreciated in today's world. Driven by furious drumming, 'Soul Asunder' takes listeners on an emotional journey, weaving together verses brimming with anger and choruses filled with hope. InnerWish's signature melodic craftsmanship shines throughout the 4.5-minute track, leaving fans eagerly counting down the days until "Ash Of Eternal Flame" is available.
"It's a fast-paced up-tempo song, full of heavy parts but also full of melodies, and another song we love and believe in from this album. No matter how heavy we go at parts, melody was and is our main characteristic. In this case, the combination of heaviness and melodies worked great, especially with such an open chorus. Lyric-wise, 'Soul Asunder' is about that point in one's life, where that individual says 'Enough is enough, I have to take care of myself.' Caring for others is wonderful, though there's always a line which you once cross and leave yourself behind for the sake of taking care of others. But it's enormously difficult to come back to balance afterwards," state the band. More...
Epica Releases "The Ghost In Me" Music Video
Dare to dance with the dead! Dutch symphonic metal titans Epica have unleashed their eeriest creation yet, the spine-chilling music video for "The Ghost in Me (Danse Macabre)," a haunting track that lures listeners into a world where shadows dance and the afterlife whispers. This song is a unique collaboration with Europe’s second-most visited theme park, Netherlands’s magical De Efteling, and their much-anticipated new attraction, Danse Macabre.
Drenched in ghostly imagery, the video mirrors the unsettling thrill of De Efteling’s new ride, which opens its gates on October 31st, right in time for this Halloween season. Ever since their childhood, every member of Epica has loved this theme park that welcomes over 5 million visitors per year. Therefore, this collaboration was a true match made in the otherworld.
Submerge yourself now in the music video which was filmed right inside and in front of the new attraction - and as if this wasn’t already exciting enough, the band even received their very own “Epica gravestone” that you can spot, if you look closely.
Epica's keyboard player, Coen Janssen, comments:
"Every kid in the Netherlands knows how magical ‘de Efteling’ is, and working this closely with the most beautiful theme park in the world surely is a dream come true! As a young boy, I immediately got captivated by the 'Danse Macabre' by Saint-Saëns as a soundtrack for their haunted house “Spookslot”. So when ‘de Efteling’ announced their new plans for the ghostly attraction “Danse Macabre” all pieces of the puzzle fell into place immediately: Why not combine our symphonic side with the ’scary’ side of metal and do our version of this epic classical piece?!? We are so happy that ‘de Efteling’ trusted our vision and gave their full support, providing us with the new ride's storyline, so we could write lyrics fitting the fantastic narrative and even adding a new chapter!"
