Children Of Bodom To Play Mystic Festival (PL)

Children Of Bodom, Cryptopsy, Bodysnatcher and Celestial Sanctuary – four more names that will make up the upcoming edition of Mystic Festival, and with them, four different images of deadly metal.

Children of Bodom
1997 saw the birth of Children Of Bodom. The Finnish band developed the notion of melodic death metal in the vein of their own sensibility, which amazes with its raw energy, technical precision and catchy melodies. The band went on to release ten studio albums, of which they sold altogether more than two million copies and tour the whole world over.

In 2020, the children from the lakeside of Bodom became orphans. Alexi Laiho, a virtuoso and visioner, as well as the band’s leader, passed away prematurely. This year the surviving members of the band decided to resurrect Children Of Bodom to pay tribute to Alexi with the 30th anniversary concert tour and to allow fans to have one more encounter with their music. Henkka Blacksmith, Janne Warman, Jaska Raatikainen, and Alexander Kuoppala asked Samy Elbanna, the leader of Lost Society, to step in as the vocalist and lead guitarist. It won’t be a silent night, but a Bodom night for sure!

Cryptopsy
Orgiastic disembowelment – yes, it’s a title of one of their songs, but also a perfect encapsulation of the artistic credo of Cryptopsy, the Canadian masters of a brutal, technical death metal. Already with their debut album, Blasphemy Made Flesh, they secured themselves a spot among the absolute best of the genre, showcasing with each subsequent record that if this genre has any limits, only they know where they lay and how to go beyond them. If a tornado can have finesse, that’s exactly what Cryptopsy is.

Bodysnatcher
Hell is Here, Hell is Home – come close enough to the stage during the Bodysnatcher’s performance and you’ll be sure to spontaneously start chanting the title of the latest record from this four-headed monster. The very same record one Kerrang! reviewer called “an album which could punch a hole in the Earth.” Sure it can, straight through – the Florida band has been polishing their lethal deathcore, famous for its heaviness, brutality and intensity, since 2014.

Celestial Sanctuary
The UK has also something to say on the topic of death metal revival and one of the most important players from that side of the pond is, without a doubt, the four-piece Celestial Sanctuary. They started with a sound reminiscent of the genre’s earliest days, but currently, they are the vanguard, bringing death metal into the future. Celestial Sanctuary will come to Gdansk with new material – in January, they will release the album Cradle Of The Rotten, Shrine To Those Most Foul, a bloody tale of their hometown, Bury St Edmunds. A king beheaded by the Vikings, burning witches, crimes of passion… There’s no story more metal than history. More...
