Fear Factory’s brand new single “Roboticist” has officially arrived online. The track’s premiere coincided with a major sci-fi milestone, going live at precisely 2:14am EST on August 29th. In the fictional ‘Terminator‘ universe — a franchise that has heavily influenced the industrial metal band over the years — that date and time in 1997 marked the moment Skynet achieved self-awareness, setting the disastrous events of the films into motion.

Fear Factory have been sitting on the track for some time, having previously streamed an early instrumental version of it back in April 2023. The song carries added significance now, as it marks the band officially progressing with their first studio material since the contentious departure of former vocalist Burton C. Bell. His successor, Milo Silvestro, joined the band in 2023, subsequently touring the world with the group.

A music video for this fully realized rendition of “Roboticist” was filmed with director Vicente Cordero (Cradle Of Filth, Hollywood Undead), while Damien Rainaud handled production, engineering, mixing and mastering duties.

Fear Factory guitarist Dino Cazares, the sole remaining ‘classic era’ member, commented:

“The future isn’t coming. It’s already here, ‘Roboticist’ is the next evolution of Fear Factory. Man, Machine and the war for what comes next. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the beginning of a new era of Fear Factory.”

Details surrounding the band’s forthcoming eleventh studio album, which is expected to follow this single, remain under wraps for the time being. However, Fear Factory have plenty of touring lined up in support of the track and that upcoming effort. The band’s current plans include:
