Metalunderground.com Premieres New Trench Warfare Song, "Follow the Circling Vultures"

Metalunderground.com is pleased to present the exclusive premiere of Texas war metal band Trench Warfare's new song, "Follow the Circling Vultures." The song is off their new album, "Achtung! Destroy The Weak," which is due out August 28 via Conjuring Records.

Frontman (and Metalunderground.com columnist) Jay Gorania comments on the track:

Follow The Circling Vultures" is about a soldier or warrior who is out in the wild, hunting for a wounded enemy combatant. Our bloodthirsty protagonist is hunting his prey in order to finish him off. He is sleep deprived but determined, driven passionately by his love of his family, his people, his nation. The hatred for enemy is profound as it's linked to the soldier’s defensive posture and need to protect his beloved family. The concept came to mind while I was on vacation in Nevada. I could see massive vultures flying across the Mojave Desert sky, above the fiery glow of the red rock formations in the Valley of Fire. (This was the location used to depict Mars in the original Total Recall flick. Arnold's eyeballs nearly popping out of his head may come to mind.)

Anyway, the vultures began to circle before descending. Surely they were there to finish something off, or at least to feast. I pictured myself in final pursuit, keeping with this storyline. Following the vultures who sniffed him out would lead me to him. The lyrics flow in a stream of consciousness manner. I was thinking about how my family was fighting for my father's life by helping him in his ailing state during that time period. In real life I’d frequently tell him to lock eyes with me and hold the gaze between us. Those thoughts led to my appreciation for my lady's sunflower eyes. They literally look like sunflowers. So my love for those two, for family, was the driving factor behind my pursuit of the enemy, to destroy someone who is a threat to them. War metal is a key building block at Trench Warfare’s foundation which we will forever embrace. The cliches and tropes are annoying and ridiculous, though. Our lyrics are heartfelt and sincere. When there is discussion of war and battle, it's oftentimes metaphor. I don't like to define where the metaphor and reality begins and ends. Maybe there is no clear definition and it's all meshed together. In any event, praise your family, people and bloodline, and to hell with your enemies.

The album was recorded at Come And Track It Studios in Austin, Texas, by John Petri and Justin McClenny, and mixed by none other than Jarrett Pritchard in Florida. In addition to Jay singing and Tony Goyang Jr. playing guitar and serving as primary songwriter, longtime guitarist Dustin Putz and Tony Goyang Jr. offered guitars and solos, Jake Holmes provided bass, and the band enlisted the services of MALEVOLENT CREATION's powerhouse drummer Ronnie Parmer (PERDITION TEMPLE, BRUTALITY, AMON, KERASPHORUS) to hold it all down.

Since the album’s recording, longtime and co-founding member Tony Goyang Jr. amicably parted ways with the band who are currently operating as a three piece. Jay and Dustin are now joined by drummer JP Campo (VX, EXTREMELY ROTTEN, SADISTIC FORCE).
