De Profundis Album Seeing North American Release

Italian metal label Kolony Records has inked a brand new distribution deal for all of North America through DisManic via eOne Distribution. The deal will see a North American release late this spring/early summer from De Profundis.

Formed in 2005, U.K. based De Profundis has performed in twenty-two countries, taken part in three international tours including supporting Iron Maiden in India and a tour with Rotting Christ, and multiple major music festivals worldwide including Bloodstock Open Air. The band's unique sound merges influences from multiple extreme metal subgenres all heavily infused with elements of progressive rock and jazz.

The album was then mixed at the Studios Davout in Paris, France (AC/DC, The Rolling Stones,Ozzy Osbourne) and mastered by Tim Turan (Emperor, Motörhead), and bears artwork crafted by Costin Chioreanu of Twilight 13 Media (Mayhem, Darkthrone, Absu). The nearly hour-long opus will now see an official upcoming North American release. "The Emptiness Within" track listing is as follows:

De Profundis Posts New Video Blog

U.K. based act De Profundis has uploaded the first episode of the band's new video blog, which can be viewed below. This week, the guys talk about their new Mayones instruments and the episode also features some rehearsal footage of the new songs. Requests and questions to be covered in future episodes can be sent to De Profundis at band(at)deprofundistheband(dot)com.

De Profundis will begin recording the follow up to the second album “A Bleak Reflection” in November, 2011. The production duties will once again be handled by Fernando Pereira Lopes (Misanthrope, Orakle). The band will be recording 8 new songs, totaling approximately 55 minutes in length.

Shoi Sen (guitar) comments: “The writing this time was really exciting, because this line up has now been recording and touring for the last 2 years, so we have gelled a lot as a unit and this transpired in the writing. The music is faster, more technical and more condensed than in the past. We have already been playing a couple of new songs on the road and judging by the crazy reaction we get for them, I think people will get a shock when they hear this new album. We will be posting regular updates and videos snippets of new songs on our revamped Facebook page so make sure to check it out!”

De Profundis To Begin Recording Third Album

Guitarist Shoi Sen had the following comments on the writing of the new LP: "The process of composition has been really exciting, because this training has been proven both in studio and live for the past 2 years, so this strong union has been poured into the music. The songs are faster, more technical and more immediate than in the past. We have already played a couple of new songs on tour, and judging by the excellent response given by the public, I think the fans will only be excited when they hear the new album. Will post regular updates on our Facebook page when it comes to the studio sessions, so stay tuned!"

De Profundis Comments On Fifth Anniversary

De Profundis has issued the following statement about the band celebrating its fifth anniversary:

"Almost exactly 5 years ago, in November 2005, Craig and I met with the intention of starting a new band. And so, De Profundis was born. Now skip forward 5 years.

"2 full-length albums, 51 concerts across 11 countries, 2 international tours, support slots to the likes of Iron Maiden, Nevermore and Opeth, co-headlining a festival in front of 30,000 people.

I'm pretty fuckin' proud of what've achieved so far. It hasn't been an easy ride and we've had to work extremely hard to get where we are now. Thanks to everyone that has supported and believed in us - we simply couldn't have done it without you. Let's see what the next 5 years will bring."

De Profundis Announces Replacement Chennai Show

De Profundis has issued the following announcement about scheduling a replacement Chennai show after the cancellation of a previous gig:

"To our friends in Chennai, following on from last night’s statement, here’s the update. As you may have heard the Open Air gig we were schedule to appear at in your city was pulled due to permission issues. However, De Profundis was very keen on maintaining its commitment to play in front of our fans in Chennai. Following a lot of hard work from all of De Profundis’ entourage, we have secured a last gasp gig in Chennai!

"We will now be playing on Thursday 21st October 9pm at Dublin inside the Sheraton Park Hotel. We realize this isn’t the ideal place to have a metal gig, but with one week to go there weren’t many options available. We tried hard to maintain the date of the 22nd, but again it couldn’t be done. So Thursday 21st OCTOBER 9PM it is!

"Now, regarding getting into the venue here’s the deal. Dublin normally charges 750 rupees cover charge for couples (which would include drinks). Our management has explained that metal heads won’t pay that kind of money, and coming as a couple again isn’t really always practical. So we have negotiated an Exclusive Guest List which will give you free access to Dublin for the night, you pay for individual drinks. The catch is you have to email us your full name so we can include it on the guest list. Please email to management@deprofundistheband.com no later than 11am on 21st October otherwise you will end up paying 750 rupees on the door! Dress Code (for men): CLOSED SHOES and FULL PANTS. De Profundis Comments On Upcoming Shows In India

De Profundis has issued the following statement about the band's upcoming live shows in India:

"As you may already know, De Profundis is about to tour India next month in order to promote the band’s new album 'A Bleak Reflection,' which has been released there by Sony BMG earlier this year. This will mark the band’s return to India since our performance alongside Iron Maiden at Rock in India Festival 2009.

"As part of the tour, De Profundis will be the main support act at Great Indian OctoberFest 2010 in Bangalore, performing just before festival headliners Lacuna Coil on Sunday 24th October 2010. We are really looking forward to playing at this amazing festival alongside some excellent Indian metal bands such as Kryptos (with whom we shared the stage at Rock in India ‘09). It will be interesting to play at the same event as several major Bollywood singers – I imagine all those not familiar with De Profundis will be in for quite a shock – or should that be 'total sonic annihilation'?! Either way, we’re working hard to prepare a very special set for our Indian fans.

"As previously announced, De Profundis will also be performing at YMCA Grounds in Chennai on 22nd October 2010. More tour dates will follow shortly."
