Venom Inc. Silences The Critics In London

Metal fans love two things; Metal, and complaining about metal. Whilst the genre has some of the most loyal and devoted fans, it's nigh on impossible to go to a gig without hearing someone say "They used to be better" or "I only like their old stuff," and when it comes to online interactions between fans, forget it. Since their inception, Venom Inc. has had to deal with such negativity and with the recent departure of guitarist Mantas, the naysayers rubbed their hands in glee. But it's important to remember that they're not, and never were, a tribute act. Venom Inc. write songs of their own in addition to playing older Venom material, mostly from the Demolition Man era, and so when the band announced their headlining tour of Europe, with a rich lineup of support acts, it was both a test to see who would put their conceptions aside, and an invitation to what promised to be a great night.

The London stop of the tour was held at the 229, a relatively small but decent venue named after their address on Great Portland Street. Opening the show was Chilean born trio Ater, originally from Santiago and now residing in the USA. Going on at six on a Monday evening is a tough ask for anyone, but for those who arrived early, they were able to witness something very different, and very interesting. There's an air of mystery and enigma about them, and it's difficult to pinpoint their sub-genre, if indeed there is one, which makes their material all the more intriguing. The music is extreme and confrontational, but very atmospheric and moody, helped in no small part by the lighting, something we take for granted as fans. Ater are best experienced for one's self due to their challenging nature, and hopefully when they return to the UK, there'll be a lot more people there to witness them. One to watch for sure. Hate Unveils "Bellum Regiis" Title Track

Slavic black/death metal titans Hate are pleased to unleash the title track of their forthcoming new full-length, "Bellum Regiis," set to drop on May 2nd on Metal Blade Records.

With a dozen ferocious and lauded albums since 1996‘s "Daemon Qui Fecit Terra," Hate's lucky thirteenth album, "Bellum Regiis," finds the unrelenting Polish quartet forging a bolder and more aggressive style than ever. "Bellum Regiis‘" nine songs see vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, guitarist Domin, drummer Nar-Sil, and bassist Tiermes honing a modern sound rife with eerie atmosphere and depth. Produced by David Castillo (Candlemass, Carcass, Dark Tranquillity, Katatonia) at Stockholm's Grondahl Studio, "Bellum Regiis" is lyrically a more “humanity focused and personal” album than 2021‘s "Rugia" while its songs are timely aural and visual exploration of, according to the vocalist, "a struggle for power and everything that comes with it."

"Bellum Regiis" roughly translates to "A War of Royalty" or "A War of Kings” and the title track encompasses the LP‘s leitmotif. "As a song, ’Bellum Regiis‘ has both a deep melancholy and a sense of grandeur," notes the frontman. "The vocals laid down by Eliza Sacharczuk [a renowned singer and voice teacher who runs a holistic arts center in Bialystok] give the song a strong sense of time. Whether that's nostalgia, reminiscence, regret, or preparation for the future is in the eye of the beholder. These wars, these struggles, have been ongoing since the dawn of our existence. Whether they are futile or not, they are scars on our very nature. ’Bellum Regiis‘ represents the whole album in the best way possible." More...

Hate Unleashes New Music Video

Long-running blackened death metal unit, Hate, today unleash their new video for "Exiles Of Pantheon". The ferocious track comes by way of the band's "Rugia" full-length, recently released via Metal Blade Records. The "Exiles Of Pantheon" video was created in collaboration with @9literfilmy film agency. You can check out the video, along with a recent interview conducted by Metal Underground, below.

Comments vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, "We're extremely proud to present this picture for one of the most brutal and vicious tracks on Rugia. The song is about an old faith being reborn through an unholy, blood-soaked ritual. There are references to archaic beliefs on the island of Rugia - the last bastion of western Slavic paganism. Making this video was one hell of a challenge, because we were shooting throughout the night in extreme weather conditions. In the end, I think we got a picture that fits perfectly with the music. Watching it, you can almost feel freezing cold rain slashing at your face. I've no doubt our best video thus far." More...

Hate To Release New Album In October

On October 15th, Hate will release their new album, "Rugia," via Metal Blade Records. For a first preview of the record, the title track can now be heard below.

No one combines death and black metal quite like Poland's Hate. With unflinching viciousness and a sense of atmosphere unique to the band, on "Rugia," their twelfth full-length, they push the boundaries of their craft even further. "It was clear to me that it should build upon and evolve from our previous record, 'Auric Gates Of Veles' (2019), both musically and lyrically. However, every Hate record stands as a separate journey, and never twice to the same place. You never know exactly where it will lead you," states vocalist/guitarist ATF Sinner, who has led the band since 1991. Fresh blood in the band's line-up also helped contribute to "Rugia's" unique sound. Pavulon (drums), who had played with the band since 2014, was forced to step down from the band due to serious health issues. The band tapped Nar-Sil (Neolith, Virgin Snatch, Embrional) to take his place. "Working with a new drummer this time around was a fascinating experience for me. Nar-Sil's technique and presence are quite different from Pavulon's, and that definitely comes across. I believe we managed to construct a refreshing new chapter to our discography, composing nine truly sinister onslaughts of pure rage."

The band elected to once again track the album in the Hertz Recording Studio in Poland, and it was recorded, mixed and mastered by the Wieslaski Brothers (Behemoth, Decapitated). Everything was laid down over about two to three weeks, with longtime collaborator Michal Staczkun providing the ambient elements of the band's sound. The only struggle came about at the mixing stage, where the final character of the record emerges. "Here we encountered many problems, contradictory visions too. The producers had their own idea for the overall sound, which differed from what I had in mind, so we were trying to find a good compromise and it took us a few months." Given how strongly the personality of the record shines through, it is safe to say that the compromise reached was definitely in its best interest, standing as perhaps the best sounding record in the band's long career. Hate is also celebrating thirty years of activity with Rugia, Sinner affirming he is as driven as ever. "Well, the fire is still burning! I'm proud that I have built a band with such strong energy, that's lasted for a long time in spite of numerous line-up changes and obstacles in our way. We are still here and we create with ever growing consciousness and dedication. The energy speaks through us. Honestly, I think of the band as something much bigger and more profound than the individual people involved in it over any given period of time. I believe we create a channel for energies that surpass us."

"Rugia" tracklisting:
1. Rugia
2. The Wolf Queen
3. Exiles of Pantheon
4. Saturnus
5. Awakening the Gods Within
6. Resurgence
7. Velesian Guard
8. Sun of Extinction

Belphegor To Tour Europe With Suffocation

Legendary bands and Nuclear Blast label mates, Belphegor and Suffocation, are teaming up once again for the second edition of Europe Under Black Death Metal Fire, brought by The Flaming Arts Agency. This time the package is strengthened by the well-known Polish blasphemers Hate. Extremely wide European geography, from the very south to the very north, over one month of touring and 30+ shows, this run simply cannot be missed by the extreme metal lovers.

EUBDMF is the perfect timing to catch the band performing tracks from their latest piece, Totenritual, before they hit the studio to record the new album that is set to be released in 2020.

The legendary Polish blackened death gods Hate released their new work, Auric Gates Of Veles, through Metal Blade Records on June 14, 2019, and are offering the European tribes to taste the album live within a massive lineup.
