Cognizance Premiere New Single & Music Video
UK, technical death metal outfit Cognizance has consistently embraced the inclusion of impactful, chunky grooves within their technical death metal sound. Their latest single, "The Towering Monument," further underscores this commitment. Today the band is unveiling a video of this single, showcasing the five-piece band effortlessly tearing through the track.
What's striking about this technical metal piece is its remarkable groove, even as it seamlessly transitions between different riffs. Cognizance maintains a tight grip on the listener's attention, making "The Towering Monument" an exhilarating track that intuitively flows from start to finish.
Drummer David Diepold (also Obscura, ex-Monument Of Misanthropy) plays a pivotal role in maintaining both consistency and innovation. He skillfully complements the intricate guitar rhythms, injecting freshness with his groove variations that sometimes surpass the string work's complexity. Speaking of exceptional performances, it's worth highlighting vocalist Henry Pryce's approach, marked by a refusal to engage in typical death metal vocal delivery clichés. His avoidance of direct camera stares and exaggerated movements adds to the band's distinct style. More...

Monument Of Misanthropy Looking For New Members
European brutal death metal stronghold Monument Of Misanthropy announce they are looking for new guitarists and a new bass player. European musicians with their own material are being preferred, but it is NOT mandatory. Get in touch with the band via this email: monumentofmisanthropy@yahoo.de or their official bandpage on FB: Monument Of Misanthropy Official Band Site
Explains the inventor of the Monument Of Misanthropy brand-imprint, band founder and frontman George "Misanthrope" Wilfinger:
"Neither will I be using any empty bullshit phrases like "due to artistic differences", "because of unsurmountable personal differences", nor will I be washing Monument Of Misanthropy's dirty laundry in public. Fact is that after the last very successful years, three awesome European tours and two acclaimed releases, for me it feels like I should carry on with a new team of guitarists and bass player. Artists who still have the fire inside to go beyond their limits and with an iron will to produce a brutal new death metal album for Monument Of Misanthropy with me and one of the best drummers out there in the brutal death metal world. People willing to play festivals, to go on tours, even if the fee won't buy them a Porsche. Musicians who live for the cause. Just sincere, motivated musicians willing to go the extra mile, that's all I'm asking for. Musicians from Europe and with their own material are preferred, but it's NO must."
Monument Of Misanthropy have been recording and touring with drum-gods Romain Goulon (ex-Necrophagist, ex-Benighted), Simon Schilling (ex-Belphegor) and David Diepold (ex-Benighted, Cognizance).
To give you an impression what is awaiting you being one of their new members, the band include their recent touring history below: More...

Wondering why we have so many nominees? Metalunderground.com's Best Of 2014 Awards
What was old is now new again, as much like with Hollywood returning to Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and Terminator, metal heads had a desire for past and present to collide throughout 2014.
This was another year of major reunions and comebacks with the likes of At The Gates, Slipknot, Sanctuary, and Massacre all returning with new material. The long dead Coal Chamber also came back to life, although we won't see an actual release until next year (with varying opinions on to whether that particular resurrection was wanted or needed).
Besides all the blasts from the past, this was a year marked by spectacles in the metal world – some truly unfortunate and others less so. Heavy metal managed to hit the Facebook trending bar and gain exposure to millions when 92 year old actor Christopher Lee released his Metal Knight EP and Christmas single ”Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing.”
Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying was finally sentenced after being arrested back in 2013 for attempting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife – an act that lead to the creation of Wovenwar, featuring the remaining members of As I Lay Dying as well as a fellow ex-believer from Oh, Sleeper.
This was also the year that included Roadrunner Records botching the release of the first Opeth single from “Pale Communion” and subsequently breaking the Internet. And who could forget Wintersun's infamous rant (perhaps best summarized as “I can't possibly record an album unless its in my own personal studio that someone else has paid for”), which sent a horde of lemming-like fans to send death threats to the Nuclear Blast Facebook page?
Typical metal shenanigans aside, this was actually a solid year for metal overall even past the major reunions. Now moving into 2015, the big question marks are if that Metallica album actually comes out, when Dimmu Borgir is finally going to get around to leaking some new info, and for those of us who have been impatiently waiting since 2012 – when will God Of Atheists finally drop that debut release that we voted most anticipated two years ago?
Before any of those questions come close to getting answers, let's take a look back at what 2014 had to offer for metal fans... More...
