Hyperspace Metalfest Announce First Batch Of Bands

Canada's premier melodic and power metal festival HYPERSPACE Metal Fest returns for its 5th edition after selling out its first two of three nights during its 2023 event. Gearing up to present its 2024 lineup, HMF is proud to announce its first batch to perform at the festival from April 11th to 13th in Vancouver, BC at Wise Hall and Rickshaw Theatre.

The HMF 2024 lineup will feature headliners Greenville, North Carolina's Æther Realm set to unleash their blend of melodic death metal and folk metal, with lyrical themes of fantasy and mythology. They are joined by festival alumni local Vancouver heavy metal warriors Iron Kingdom, who have been touring hard for their new and fifth album “The Blood Of Creation”. The Metal Temple has described them as "A distinctively distinguished experience in Heavy Metal... an injection in infectiously venomous momentum most definitely deserves interest - do check it out."

Making their first appearance at HMF will be Borealis, a power/progressive metal band from Orangeville, Ontario. Their latest album "Illusions" has gotten praise from across the metal community, My Global Mind has stated "Borealis have proven themselves to be one of the most consistent band’s when it comes to producing excellent dark power/prog metal, and this album is no exception, standing as possibly their best work to date. Longtime fans should be very pleased with this album, and newcomers are highly recommended to start with this album."

Other bands joining the lineup will be Edmonton's Tyler Dory Trio, Calgary's Osyron and much more to be later announced. (1st batch of bands listed below).

Festival organizer Joey Hockin of Journeyman Productions adds:

"Here we go with another Hyperspace Metal Festival! This year was absolutely incredible and we are going to keep the momentum up and try to top it again next year! Next year will feature many bands' first appearances in Vancouver including Aether Realm, Borealis, Tylor Dory Trio, Transgressive, Syryn, and Balrogath! Watch for the rest of the lineup to be announced in the fall and we'll see you all again next April!" More...

Osyron Posts New Lyric Video Online

Calgary, Canada’s Osyron is sharing their latest music video "Griefmaker" in support of "Kingsbane: Deluxe Edition" released this past May. The track is one of three rearranged bonus tracks featured on the re-issue of the 2017 album.

"Griefmaker was a song picked for its potential to be re-arranged. It's a very fleshed-out and layered song, and it has very atmospheric sections, but we've always felt that it could do with some extra reinforcement of those moments. We cut the time down on it quite a bit and removed a lot of the heavily symphonic sections to make room for sections where the guitars/arrangements could take a front seat. We feel overall it's a more "mature" and "current" version of this song; if Osyron were writing this now it'd sound more like it does here than it did on the original release." adds the band.

The music video for the bonus version of "Griefmaker", an epic symphonic power prog song can be watched below. More...

Osyron Releases New Music Video

Out now as of Friday, May 14th, Calgary, Canada’s Osyron are ready to reintroduce the past to the present with the reissue of their 2017 album "Kingsbane" in a Deluxe Edition. The decision to re-release plus remix and remaster the record along with three rewritten and rearranged bonus tracks for Viper Queen, Griefmaker and Razor's Wind (Acoustic) with current drummer Cody Antsey (original recordings were with former drummer Trevor Cobb) was an easy one after the great reception the band received from new fans for their 2020 album "Foundations."

Osyron has always sensed the sound and production could be better for "Kingsbane", and with time on their hands during the Covid pandemic along with writing new music, they felt it was an opportunity to share a fresh take of this epic record for new listeners plus those who have been following them for years.

Drummer Cody Antsey adds:

"The world groans under the heavy burden these days which, according to our nature, should bring us all closer together. But it is precisely this feeling that is too often missing. In these times when the bands can’t get together when the fans can only experience the sweat and sound-filled nights in crowded venues in their memories; other ways of forwarding momentum have to be found. For this reason, we hope that all our fans - both old and new - can enjoy our updated and revitalized Deluxe Edition re-release of Kingsbane. We have big plans for our next record, and we absolutely cannot wait to get back to playing shows and writing together in the studio… Until then, stay safe, stay metal, and we hope to see you on the road someday soon!"
