Interview
Daniel Finch Plays The Devil's Music
We recently had the pleasure of premiering new track "Can You Hear Me" off the upcoming debut album from The Devil's Music.
Created by former Devilment member Daniel J. Finch, The Devil's Music is a new outlet for Finch and will feature music originally crafted for the second album of his previous group.
While the album won't be dropping for another month, Finch is plenty excited to get some advance music out to the wider world and had plenty to say about both leaving Devilment and putting together this newer group. Read on for our full chat. More...
Dillinger Escape Plan Walks Back Breakup Talk
Less than 24 hours after announcing a "final" tour, The Dillinger Escape Plan was already backpedaling on just how "final" that would really be.
In an interview with Altpress.com, Greg Puciato commented that "No one in this band is dumb enough to say something’s ever really done" and "So the only thing you can do to make yourself not look like an idiot and not have to eat your own words is to leave it open for possibilities, because that’s reality. People are done when they’re dead."
He also goes on to mention that there are still "hundreds" of shows before the planned breakup even initaties. Excerpts from the interview can be read below.
Altpress: Do you have plans for life post-Dillinger?
Possibly, but who knows how we’re going to feel after the 200 more shows we still have to play. That’s what I mean: We’re about to announce our breakup, and I’m not even thinking about it. The only thing I care about is that the record is being announced and the release date is being announced and we’re finally going to have the fucking first song off the record for people to listen to properly, instead of a radio stream. I’m not thinking about a breakup that’s not going to initiate until hundreds of shows from now. And definitely, creatively, I don’t know what the fuck I’m gonna be thinking two years from now when we finally play our last show.
Altpress: So you’re leaving things open?
Well, yeah, because no one in this band is dumb enough to say something’s ever really done. If you’re smart and you look at every other band that’s done this, I mean, Guns ‘N Roses are fucking back, for Christ’s sake. Van Halen already came back. So the only thing you can do to make yourself not look like an idiot and not have to eat your own words is to leave it open for possibilities, because that’s reality. People are done when they’re dead.
The band will release new album "Disassociation" on October 14th, 2016 and first new track "Limerent Death" can be heard below. More...

Destroying The Devoid Posts "Carnivale Nocturno"
In less than a week, Destroying The Devoid -- the progressive death metal venture led by Craig Peters of Deeds Of Flesh and formerly Arkaik -- will drop the cinematic brutality of "Paramnesia."
The seven-track, forty-six-minute "Paramnesia" was engineered and produced by Peters at Carnivale Nocturno Studios with all mixing and mastering handled by Zack Ohren (Deeds of Flesh, Arkaik, Suffocation et al) at Castle Ultimate Productions and cover art by Frank Barrera.
As a precursor to its release, today the band offers up new track "Carnivale Nocturno" for public consumption.
"The song 'Carnivale Nocturno' is a very dark song that deals with humanity and how we see ourselves," elaborates Peters of the track. "Television and magazines project the image of what beauty is and what it is to be successful. This song is about self-empowerment and overcoming our own darkest emotions." More...

Steve'N'Seagulls Releases New Video
Steve'N'Seagulls has shared a video for a cover of Iron Maiden's classic "Aces High." Throw your horns up and watch the clip below.
"Sometimes, in order to make things happen, all you need is a bunch of crazy ideas, mash 'em together, and wait for the results," the band said about the video.
They went on to say, "This is basically how we started with our first video from the upcoming album. We were lucky to get some enthusiastic, creative, and hard-working people around to get it done. You can imagine that mixing miniature aircrafts, cows, pyrotechnics, and belly dancers with the band doesn't necessarily come together naturally. But it did. And we're happy about it."
The second Steve'N'Seagulls album "Brothers in Farms" is now due out September 9th via Spinefarm Records. More...
Gazzan Releases Debut EP
A new entity emerges from the Cleveland metal scene in the form of Gazzan, uniting a cast of musicians with roots tracing to American Werewolves, Bowel, and members from three different eras of Integrity.
The outfit has self-released debut EP "Extinction" and booked several new shows for the summer months. Gazzan is also in the process of writing for a debut LP.
Gazzan marks the fierce full-time return of the Melnick Brothers. Guitarist Aaron "A Double" and bassist Leon Micha have been creating music together all their lives, but never before have they had this level of talent onboard.
The songs are driven by the powerhouse driving solos of Blaze Tishko which promise a face melting experience. Rounding out the unit, multi-instrumentalist Rob Orr meets Leon's thundering bass with monstrous drum beating to unleash a bestial rhythm section. The recent addition of American Werewolves singer Trevor Moment's howling vocals seals the circle to invoke a demon of metallic force.

"Gramarye" compiles five different antique source texts that span nearly two thousand years and five different civilizations, ranging from the ancient Egyptian funerary passage "The Book of the Dead" to Homer's "Odyssey" and the medieval "Merseburg Incantations" (one of the only pagan incantations still in existence in Old High German) through to the Aleister Crowley-penned early 20th century occult literature, "The Book Of Lies."

Amorphis Announces "Eclipse" Tour
Finnish group Amorphis just announced a special "Eclipse" tour for this winter, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release. For this special occasion, the band will perform "Eclipse" in its entirety, as Amorphis did with "Tales From The Thousand Lakes" back in 2014.
"A bit over ten years ago, we released one of the most remarkable Amorphis albums, 'Eclipse.' An album that started a whole new era in Amorphis' history and has put its mark to all of us," states guitarist Esa Holopainen.
He goes on to state: "The first album with Tomi Joutsen on vocals and an album of timeless music. The circumstances making this record were totally different than with its predecessor, 'Far From The Sun.' We had a highly talented new frontman and his energy truly motivated all of us. For a long time it was fun and inspiring to write and rehearse new music. I think 'Eclipse' captured pretty much the elements of what Amorphis is nowadays, got generally known about for and it was a great platform for its followers ('Silent Waters' and 'Skyforger').
"It's time to celebrate this album with our friends and fans. We are going to play 'Eclipse' in its entirety. No need to say that these limited shows are going to be really special. We'll add more songs from the 'Silent Waters' and 'Skyforger' era. Some tracks that are not that often played. Shine on brothers and sisters and get your tickets as long as they last!" More...

On Monday, November 7th, Neurosis shall be joined by Earth, and on Tuesday, November 8th, the group will be joined by Discharge and Subhumans. These bands represent perfectly the cross-section of music which Neurosis as a collective deeply admires and relates to.

Fall Of Summer Reveals Final Band Additions
The Fall Of Summer team is proud to announce the last seven bands of the third edition's line up. The festival's organizers comment:
"So we will start with two bands from the 70s. For the first one, formed in 1972 if you don't recall their name, you will certainly remember their music, as the Italian progressive rock band Claudio Simonetti's Goblin is known for their soundtrack work for films like 'Suspiria,' 'Dawn of the Dead,' 'Profondo Rosso' and we know already that their performance on the Blackwater stage with it's natural amphitheater, the video screening and the lake behind will be one of the highlights of the festival.
"Another band you would be a fool to miss and we are glad to announce is Riot V. If you search for heavy speed ,etal at its best don't search further and just enjoy a pure metal moment with a band that hasn't played in France for so long that we had to do something.
"Let's move to the 80's with two great and solid bands who have always been a reference in their countries, with Heavy Metal french representatives ADX and polish death metal masters Vader. Two bands that don't need introduction and who will as always provide a kick ass gig.
"If we now look at the 90's, we are thrilled to remind you the birth of funeral doom in Finland and announce that, one of its pioneers, Skepticism will join us, or another crucial band that we needed to bring to Fall Of Summer and to France for the first time. More...

Norwegian duo, Darkthrone, has announced the new album "Arctic Thunder," to be released on October 14th via Peaceville. "Arctic Thunder" marks the band's first new studio material since 2013's triumphant "The Underground Resistance," its most successful release in recent years.
An eclectic mix of free-spirited '80s fueled blackened heavy metal, all executed in Darkthrone's trademark raw and organic style, "Arctic Thunder" was recorded and produced by the band themselves, with the sessions conducted at Darkthrone's old rehearsal unit, "The Bomb Shelter," which was originally used during 1988-1990. Mastering is once again handled by Jack Control at Enormous Door.
With themes based around hate, contempt, and the inner mind and soul, and with the notable presence of Nocturno Culto on vocal duties across all songs for the first time in recent years, "Arctic Thunder" retains a grim atmosphere throughout the album's eight tracks.
Stay tuned for more information on Darkthrone and Arctic Thunder, out this fall on Peaceville.

New Single And Video Released By Nuclear Chaos
It only seems like yesterday that Mexico's melodic death metal quartet Nuclear Chaos released the second record "Ruins Of The Future." That release also came with the band's first ever music video "Suffocate" which featured guest vocals from none other than David Vincent of Morbid Angel fame. Having been on the road including a stint in Europe playing at prestigious events such as Wacken Open Air and Metal Days we're now over half way through 2016 and the band have been busy tracking the follow up to that release.
The band comments, "The new record is very different from what we did in the past but it keeps the Nuclear Chaos essence intact. The album will contain many different influences going from melodic death metal to latin metal. We are very excited about this release and this album will show a stronger and more mature Nuclear Chaos."
With a title yet to be revealed, and a release date slated for early 2017 the band have a new single to bridge the gap. Coinciding with the new single, entitled "Shockwave," the band has also unleashed a new music video for it. The video was shot in Templo San Lázaro (St. Lazarus Temple), an abandoned church from the 1520's in Mexico City. It was shot, directed and edited by Frank Fletcher and Ponce Chiefs from the Mexican studios Soberbios Films.
"'Shockwave' is an allusion to what we have lived in the past years," comments the band. "It shows a metaphor of how we overcame some personal problems that we will carry as chains forever. They will always be there as a reminder of what we have gone through but they also show that what doesn't destroy you will make you rise stronger."

Fortified by the sidewinding winds and mercurial lakes of the land with the largest sinking mall, Freya stands as an immovable heavy metal monolith. Giant serpentine guitar riffs tightly coil around vast passages of tension and melody, creating the band's upcoming fifth studio full-length, "Grim." Expanding upon the thematic scope of their previous release, "Paragon Of The Crucible," the latest installment derives inspiration from the historical origins of Grimm folktales.
Grizzled veteran founding frontman, Karl Buechner (Earth Crisis, The Path Of Resistance) breathes life into these cautionary tales, delving deep into their macabre realities and the harsh circumstances of their genesis. Newly-recruited drummer Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, Soilwork), the one-man stampede of savagery, lends his machine gun percussive virtuosity to the album, his complex timing and imagination a perfect complement to the diverse riff-work of guitarists Brendon Flynn and Thom Turner.
"Grim" was once again mixed and mastered by Jason "Jocko" Randall at More Sound Recording Studio in Syracuse, and features the intense graphic cover artwork by Freya's Brendon Flynn. The album will be released through Pennsylvania's Fastbreak! Records on September 30th, 2016.
Stand by for additional audio premieres, pressing info, preorders, and much more to be released in the days ahead.

Meshiaak Stands "At The Edge Of The World"
Australia'a Meshiaak is streaming another new track from the "Alliance of Thieves" album, which is due out August 19th via Mascot Records. Check out "At the Edge of the World" in the player below.
Formed in Melbourne, Australia by 4ARM’s Danny Camilleri and Teramaze’s Dean Wells, the band is rounded out by bassist Nick Walker and major rhythmic weapon Jon Dette, of Iced Earth, Slayer and Testament fame, not to mention his gig as temporary replacement for an injured Charlie Benante in Anthrax. It is the combination of the embarrassment of riches—and richness of ideas—embedded in the songwriting team of Tombs and Wells, with the band’s warm and yet locked-down rhythmic beds that conspire to make tracks like the textured and proggy “At the Edge of the World” so easy-drinking and yet thought-provoking of detail.
“I would have to say that ‘At the Edge of the World’ would be the one we’d love to get out there as a single,” notes Danny, on a panoramic journey of a song that has everything, including sophisticated arrangement, epic sweep and astonishing lyrical depth. “It’s the kind of song that would speak to people on a lot of different levels, something that most people would be able to connect with fairly easily. It’s a song that is very close to me personally, especially when it came to the lyrics. It’s where I’ve found myself in the last three years and my moments of doubt, trials and frustrations concerning experiences I’ve had to go through over that time." More...
