Yngwie Malmsteen Tours China
It seems that Yngwie Malmsteen impressed some Chinese beaurecrats when he played in Hong Kong.
When Yngwie performed in Hong Kong last week the Chinese Government had party members in the audience watching the event. They were highly impressed. So much so that they have extended an invitation to have Yngwie be one of the few Western musicians ever to tour the whole of China. The comments they made were that Yngwie's music was not like the typical western music they hear, but instead contained complex technique and melodic content which they find lacking in most modern-day Western music. They referred to Yngwie as a "modern day Mozart with electricity".
Newsted in Voivod Rumors
Rumors abound about Jason Newsted, formlerly of Metallica, joining Canadian metalheads, Voivod. The band will shortly announce a new line-up following the recent departure of bassist/vocalist Eric Forrester, with original singer Snake also expected to part of the new incarnation.
As always, neither of these rumors have been confirmed and may be entirely false.
