Pit Stories: Good Karma With Jack Daniels
From destruction of property to destruction to facial features, usually our many crazy Pit Stories have less-than-desirable outcomes.
Not so this week, as Karma To Burn shares a tale of fans who both take and give back, with a bottle of JD leading to some good karma that spanned more than one country. Evan Devine tells the story like this:
Our best mosh pit story is definitely from Hellfest 2013 in Clisson, France. Its one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe, I think the crowd was 50,000 that year. We were playing the valley stage as a two piece, just a drum set and guitar stack in front of 6,000 people.
Well, Jack Daniels was backstage giving out bottles of whiskey. During our set, after we each had enough, Will threw the half full bottle out in to the audience, and a guy caught it and started passing it around the pit.
Two weeks later, we were playing a show in Switzerland, and after our set there was a bottle of Jack on stage, with a note on it reading "Thanks for the bottle at Hellfest, now its my chance to return the favor."

Front Releasing "Iron Overkill"
Today, Iron Bonehead Productions sets June 24th as the international release date for debut album from Finnish metal band Front, titled "Iron Overkill."
Moving quickly and decisively, Front formed in 2015 and immediately recorded a debut demo, released through Iron Bonehead. At just three tracks in a dozen minutes, Front's opening salvo was an exciting rush of crushing ultra-violence.

Rotten Sound Announces New Tour Dates
Finnish grindcore powerhouse Rotten Sound has announced a North American tour starting on May 25th in New York.
This trek sees the band travel to-and-from Maryland Deathfest, and also features Canadian dates in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal, followed by a trek throughout Mexico.

Sektemtum Releasing New Album
Today, Osmose Productions sets May 26th as the international release date for Sektemtum's second album, "Panacea," due to be released on both CD and limited vinyl formats.
After a five-year break, Sektemtum decided to record a new studio release. Now a trio, they parted ways with lead singer Meyhna'ch and recorded a personal and genuine album.
Sektemtum created and recorded "Panacea" during endless nights, through spontaneity and suffering. No rehearsal had been planned before entering the studio - the band wanted to make a record in a hurry, following the mood of the moment. The album's track listing is:

Entheos Vocalist Denied Entry To Canada
In support of debut release "The Infinite Nothing," Entheos has been touring non-stop, currently out on the road with The Contortionist, Monuments and sleepmakeswaves.
Unfortunately today there was a bit of a bump in the road... vocalist Chaney Crabb has been denied entry into Canada. Therefore tonight's show in Toronto and tomorrow's show in Montreal, QC will be performed as instrumental sets. Crabb comments:
"Unfortunately, due to a DUI I received in 2008, I was denied entry to Canada at the Niagara Falls border early this morning. I have taken several steps to expunge this from my record but was unable to finish the process before we left for this tour.
"Because several people I know with greater charges have been allowed to apply for TRP at the border and crossed with a simple fee, I decided to take my chances and show up with my prepared paperwork, but was ultimately denied entry.
"I am deeply saddened and will continue to work to overcome my mistake. With that being said, go catch instrumental Entheos sets tonight in Toronto and tomorrow in Montreal! I wish I could be there and will be seeing our Canadian friends sooner than later. Much love." More...
Neoheresy Streaming "Potop"

Hissing Releasing Self-Titled EP
Southern Lord is preparing a self-titled 7" EP from traumatizing Seattle-based death metal trio, Hissing, for release this June.
Hissing began in 2014 out of a mutual interest between bassist/vocalist Zach Wise, guitarist Joe O'Malley, and drummer Sam Pickel in exploring dissonant and punishing metal. Having forged a more explosive identity since then, the outfit dispatches a gruesome concoction of death metal with pungent blackened atmosphere and scathing sludge-dredging attributes.
Following a self-released demo and a self-titled EP, which was recently reissued on CD by Disorder Recordings, the new self-titled 7" from Hissing bears the hymn "Cairn" on the A-side and "Husk" on the B-side.
"Hissing" was tracked by Rusty Graeff (Bone Sickness) and mixed and produced by the band, with mastering handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege and cover art by Stefan Thanneur (Chaos Echœs). The lyrics of this release are thematically centered around the effects of the metropolitan environment on the human psyche and explore themes of agoraphobia, urban decay, and incarceration.
The ban d will join labelmates Big|Brave and Sunn O))) on upcoming runs through the Western and Midwestern U.S. in May, with more widespread tour actions to be announced throughout the year. More...

Trauma Writing New Material
Trauma was formed in 1980, with the original lineup featuring the iconic Cliff Burton on bass guitar before joining Metallica in 1982. The band quickly became well known throughout California, playing at all the legendary venues, and Trauma's first ever recorded track “Such a Shame” was included on the Metal Blade Records "Metal Massacre II" album in 1982.
The band reformed in 2013 and the next year signed a worldwide contract with Pure Steel Records. Latest effort "Rapture and Wrath" was released on February 27th, 2015 and now the band is currently writing material for a new album.
Trauma also just signed a deal with Alpha Omega, with the management group commenting: "We're extremely thrilled to welcome Trauma to our family! We cannot wait to bring them on worldwide stages with their upcoming album, which promises great things both for old and new fans!" More...
I Am Noah Announces "The Verdict"
In 2015, I Am Noah was born from the ashes of Chimalba. That same year, the band recorded debut release "The Verdict" with Aljoscha Sieg (Pitchback Studios) and David Beule (VITJA).
Sonically rooted in ambient metalcore, the album is defined by its progressive riffing and percussive assault. The lyrics are written from the perspective of the album's fictional anti-hero, Noah. The band comments:
"I Am Noah and I’m tired. I’m tired of people who distinguish themselves with their income, uniform, skincolour, religion, gender or nationality to affect everything and everyone. I’m tired of being closely watched. I’m tired of living in a society, which dictates who to be or not. I’m tired of facing people’s failure in their attempt of making life better, whilst being deported and called illegal or haunted just because of their religion. I’m tired.. I’m done. Fear Factory Releases New Video
"Expiration Date" comes from the Fear Factory's latest album "Genexus," which was released worldwide via Nuclear Blast Entertainment in late 2015.

"The music video represents us in the sense that we are heavy music yet we are hip hop. Sunstorm Releases "Edge Of Tomorrow" Video
Sunstorm - featuring ex-Rainbow vocalist Joe Lynn Turner - issued a music video for the new track "Edge of Tomorrow." The song is the title track from the fourth studio release due out on May 13th via Frontiers Records srl.
For the album, Turner turned to producer and songwriter Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Edge of Forever) to come up with some new songs. Del Vecchio joined forces with Simone Mularoni, guitar player and producer of Italian prog metallers DGM. Together they developed songs, which were exactly what Joe wanted, so it was a natural process to move forward and record another Sunstorm album. As usual, other songwriters, such as Soren Kronqvist and Daniel Palmqvist completed the array of individuals involved.

RainVeil Signs With Underground Symphony
Underground Symphony is pleased to announce the signing of Italian melodic metal act RainVeil for the release of the the debut album "Verses." The album is targeted for release in May.
"Verses" features modern power metal songs, catchy melodies and thuderous rhythmics with it's main influences drawn from the music of Kamelot.

Swedish glam metal act ToxicRose released details of the upcoming new album "Total Tranquility." The album is set to be released by City Of Lights/Rock It Up Records on May 16th.
"Total Tranquility" is the full length debut album following the critically acclaimed, self-titled EP from 2012. The album includes ten majestic songs filled with blasting drums, intense bass, furious guitars and powerful vocals.

Abysseral Throne Releases New Track "Wolfthorn"
Moncton's Abysseral Throne is streaming the brand new track "Wolfthorn," which can be heard in the player below. The song is appears on the upcoming new EP "Storming The Black Gate," which is set for release on April 29th.
"Storming The Black Gate" was recorded at Pumpk'n Patch Studios in Memramcook, New Brunswick by acclaimed east coast engineer and mixer, Danny Bourgeois and was mastered by Mike Bourgeois.

Jorn To Release Covers Album "Heavy Rock Radio"
Frontiers Music Srl is excited to announce Jorn’s new album, "Heavy Rock Radio," which is due for release on June 3rd!
One of the greatest rock singers of our time, Jorn Lande (Avantasia/ex-MasterPlan) returns with a unique album of covers of classics from artists and bands that have meant something special to him, and helped forge this talented man's own unique style.
Through Jorn's extensive career, which includes more than 40 albums of mostly original songs, he has also recorded great versions of several rock classics such as Thin Lizzy's "Are You Ready", UFO's "On and On", Deep Purple's "Perfect Strangers", and many more. Jorn also recorded a successful Ronnie James Dio tribute album, released in 2010. Every song JORN covers is treated with the utmost respect and "Jorn-ized" accordingly. A good example is his heavy sounding version of "I Walk Alone," first released by Tarja Turunen (ex-Nightwish).
"Heavy Rock Radio" is not an ordinary album of cover songs, it is truly a songbook of hits. Featured – among others - are great versions of the Eagles' "Hotel California" and Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill", which gets the Jorn style treatment to become very powerful and epic, without losing its commercial touch. Pig Destroyer At Reggies Rock Club
Whoever decided to book the Abbath, High On Fire and Skeletonwitch tour date on the same day as a Pig Destroyer show deserves to be shot. After seeing how many people turned up to see PD, I feel really sorry for everyone involved with the Abbath tour.
Then again, it might not have been as dire for them since metal's grown larger as it has grown more diverse. I was surprised by the amount of people over 40, women and people dressed like they just got out of work at an office job. Usually metal shows – particularly for bands as brutal as Pig Destroyer – attract a audience of mostly 18-35-year-old working class males. Then again, since anyone who isn't part of that demographic is treated as a complete pariah by TV executives and aren't allowed to be couch potatoes, it's only natural that they'd show up to see Pig Destroyer. After all, metal is ultimately a genre for the dispossessed misfits of society.
