Soulrot Reveals "Nameless Hideous Manifestations"
In an endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage death metal, on April 24th, Memento Mori is proud to present the debut full-length of Chile's Soulrot, titled "Nameless Hideous Manifestations."
Hailing from the city of Valparaíso, the band was formed by guitar player JL Olmos (Betrayed, ex-Micosis, ex-Gangrenous) circa 1993-1994 but was put to rest due to JL being involved in several other projects at the time. It wasn't until 2013 that JL joined bass player/vocalist JH Wilschrey (Sadistic Murder, Acero Letal) and they both resuscitated Soulrot, manifesting an unquestionable inclination towards the death metal of yore.

At The Gates Parts With Anders, Announces Album
Having completed an extremely comprehensive worldwide touring campaign in support of comeback album "At War With Reality" (reviewed here), Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates now break the silence and check in with this status update:
"So, it is now official that Anders Björler is no longer a part of At The Gates. He will always be part of the At The Gates family, of course, but he will no longer write, record or play with us live. This is something that we, the rest of the band, have felt was on its way for quite some time, as that special spark was no longer with him the last year. We are grateful for all we have experienced together with him, all the records, all the songs, all the gigs, all the laughs and good times.
"The rest of us have in the meantime started the work on the follow up to 'At War With Reality', we already have three songs written, and the direction is set for an intense, hungry follow-up album. Jonas has always written a considerable part of the bands' material and we are fully confident that the new material will live up to the standards set by our previous records. It is ripping. The four of us still have the burning urge to create death metal together, and we love playing live in front of our fans, so we will go on, with an even stronger intent.
"While writing the new record, that we intend to record in the beginning of 2018, we are trying out Anders' replacement. Some auditions are being held as we speak, and we will get back to you with news on the matter as soon as we know more." More...

Invasion Will "Play The Devil's Piano"
Indiana war-themed thrash/death metal act Invasion released a new video clip for the song "Play the Devil's Piano." The song appears on the latest album "Destroyer of Mankind," which is available now via Abyss Records.
Bassist/vocalist Peter Clemens explains theme of "Play the Devil's Piano" as follows: "The acrid smells, the blistering heat of combat and the deadly assault and rapid fire of the Mauser MG42 German Machine Gun (affectionately known as the Devil's Piano). The MG 42 (shortened from Maschinengewehr 42, or "machine gun 42") is a 7.92x57 mm general purpose machine gun designed by Germany and used extensively by the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS during World War 2. Viewed & cherished by the Germans, this weapon's most notable features was its exceptionally high rate of fire of about 1,200 rounds per minute. Hence, when in heavy combat often it was time to Play The Devil's Piano!"

Moonspell To Issue New Album "1755" This Year
The rumors are true! Moonspell is ready to release a new album this year. The band is currently in pre-production with John Phipps at the band's home studios (Inferno) in Portugal and has recently posted online some pictures of videos of the daily work at the studio.
The album title will be "1755" and it's a quite surprising twist of events and direction for the band. Versing the Great Lisbon Earthquake (1755), the band has developed a lyrical concept that looks into the death and rebirth of Lisbon and how the disaster changed religion, politics and philosophy in the whole of Europe. The surprise is that the album will be fully sung in Portuguese!
What was supposed to be just a 4-song bonus for the "Lisboa Under the Spell" DVD-Blu-ray (recorded last February in Lisbon with 4000 wild fans attending, to be released in 2018) evolved into a full length album that will be produced by Tue Madsen (Antfarm Studios, DK) who worked with the band in a few previous releases: "Under Satanae," "Night Eternal" and "Alpha Noir/Omega White."
In the band's own words, Fernando (lead singer) explains: "We fell in love with the concept and made perfect sense to sing it in our national language, Portuguese. I guess we were just waiting for the right opportunity to work on such an album. Musically it will be heavier than Extinct. It will be earthshaking but also very detailed with orchestrations and percussion as we want people to relive the Lisbon of the 18th century. Singing it in Portuguese, allowed me to find a different expression as a vocalist and my job is to be the survivor of the Earthquake, roaming the ruins and telling you all about it." More...

On this record, we decided to push the melodic strains even further, but without losing either intensity or brutality.
