Drowning Pool Sign With Sanctuary Records?
Drowning Pool are holed up in a Dallas, TX studio recording their third studio album. The band plans to finish recording by the end of the year with a late February / mid-April release expected.
Drowning Pool has reportedly signed with Sanctuary Records for the release of their third studio album. The band parted ways earlier this year with Wind-Up Records after releasing two albums through the label, each featuring a different lead singer: 2001's "Sinner" and 2004's "Desensitized".
In May the label fired co-founder and chief executive Andy Taylor due to accounting problems which affected the company's 2005 results. Then Iron Maiden did not renew its management agreement with the company earlier and now signs of disappointing sales with their sister label, Rough Trade Records. Rough Trade is the UK home of The Strokes and is expected to lose £2.8 million for the year ended on September 30th.
A demo of a new track titled "No More" with new vocalist Ryan McCombs (ex-SOiL) can be streamed on their MySpace page.

Vader Gives Update On Fests And "Best Of"
Polish death metal legends VADER have issued the following update:
"As you might know, in 2007 VADER won't appear on any regular European tournee. Instead of this, the band is going to play on some summer festivals. Band's appearance on Wacken Open Air (Germany), Kaltenbach Festival (Austria) and Party San (Germany) have been already confirmed. Apart from that, at the beginning of March, Vader is going to play a short tournee in Japan (together with BRUTAL TRUTH). Afterwards panzermachine will appear on their first Australian tour (which is pre-scheduled to take place in April or June) and play the postponed tour in Russia, Belorus, the Ukraine and Baltic countries. At the beginning of September Vader kick off the second part of Polish Blitzkrieg 4 Tour, invading such places like Rzeszów, Bia?ystok, Zielona Góra, Pozna? and many more.
In 2008 Vader will celebrate the 25th anniversary. On that occasion in March 2007 the band will enter Hertz Studio to re-record 25 best songs from their entire discography. These songs will be released on band's special jubilee album. The release will also feature tons of DVD bonuses like archival recordings, liveshows, videoclips and some other specials. Jaros?aw Szubrycht, well-known Polish journalist (who has recently finished a book about SLAYER) will write a biography of Vader. More details will follow soon."

Keep of Kalessin: Entering the Throne
It was a matter of time before new kings would enter the throne of Black Metal in Norway. No one really knows who the recent kings were either, so I think the scene needed some new troops to develop Black Metal in the right direction.
I was really excited about this gig with one of my favorite bands on the metal scene these days, Keep of Kalessin. I have seen them live a few times before, but then at bigger venues than this one. With their latest release "Armada" still playing in the back of my head, I was excited to see them in this small and intimate stage in the central park in Bergen, Norway. The venue is called Hulen and it is a cave combined with tunnels under the park, complete with traces from the Germans and the second world war. The place has been used as bomb shelter as well as a command center. More...
Dismember, Grave and Absymal Dawn Tour Cancelled
Abysmal Dawn's Charles Elliott has sent in the following update regarding the cancellation of the Dismember and Grave tour that they were scheduled to be part of:
"For whatever reasons our tour with Dismember and Grave has been cancelled. This situation is completely out of our control and we hope that people understand and come out to support us next time. Words cannot express how frustrate we feel at the moment after taking this tour on such short notice. We would like to thank Mike Bear (Artisan) for offering to fill in for Carlos on this tour at the last minute. As many of you know he played bass on "From Ashes" and would have done an amazing job. The first date of the tour will still take place at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood on December 1st. The lineup for the night will be Abysmal Dawn, Coffin Texts, Letum Ascensus, Nema and Unsanctified. Tickets are only $8 for the night and if you bought tickets in advance you can come down to the show for either a partial or full refund."
This announcement comes not long after The Absence dropped off the Entombed, Dismember, and Grave tour "because of several unresolved problems" with their booking agent.

Scum Of The Earth Selects Paul Garner For Cover
Renowned U.K. concept artist Paul Garner has been selected to create the cover art for SCUM OF THE EARTH's upcoming second release, tentatively entitled "SLEAZE FREAK". Paul's probably best known for his work on everything from tattoo & t-shirt design to movie/music magazine illustration to giant murals & sideshow banners, and co-designing, producing and directing the Gawkagogo Bizarre Cabaret & Theatre shows throughout London and the UK. He's also worked with Richard O' Brien (Rocky Horror Picture Show) and Clive Barker. Paul's style peers behind the curtain of a sinister sideshow underworld where cartoon geeks, zombie kids, and unspeakable things from the slab mingle menacingly with the ones that the Scooby Doo gang let get away.
When Riggs was asked about his decision to work with Paul, he said "He's an amazing artist, I thought his artwork looked real sleazy, trashy and basically seemed like a visual embodyment of what this album's all about... sleaze, filth, depraivety, and the dark perversion of the world. The red light district in Amsterdam, has this vibe... in my opinion, it's like the Disneyland of the Universe, and Sleaze Freak will be our attempt to bring that vibe to the fans, through the music and the art. There might be some other artists as well..."
Scum of the Earth is the brainchild of former longtime Rob Zombie guitarist, Riggs. The debut album, "Blah...Blah...Blah...Love Songs" received critical acclaim in the US and sales out-performed more than 88% of all other albums released last year, according to Nielsen Soundscan. The band is currently in pre-production, and scheduled to begin recording sessions in January, 2007.
