Amaranthe Shares "Re-Vision" Music Video

Two weeks into the new year, Amaranthe, one of Sweden's most influential modern metal bands, kicks off 2024 with the crushing pop metal song "Re-Vision." With its electronic pulse, powerful riffs and irresistibly lethal hooks, the song demonstrates why Amaranthe are one of the most unique acts in modern metal.

Amaranthe's Olof Mörck states:
"It is time for the fourth single from 'The Catalyst,' ‘Re-Vision’, and this time we went all in. Ponderous cyberpunk and synthwave rhythms clash with Amaranthe's signature sound in an equally thrilling and memorable blend, sure to act as a permanent cybernetic implant into your brain. The prodigious video, once again actualised by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus, serves as the perfect counterpoint to ‘Re-Vision’, more ambitious and explosive than any Amaranthe video to date! As predictions from the 80’s Artificial Intelligence seem to become truer every day, we are ready to serve you a cataclysmic yet captivating foresight into the future of Amaranthe: Re-Visioned."

"Re-Vision" is the fourth single from Amaranthe's forthcoming album "The Catalyst," that will see the light of the day on February 23rd, 2024, via Nuclear Blast Records. Amaranthe Parts Ways With Vocalist

Swedish heavy metal outfit Amaranthe has confirmed that they have parted ways with vocalist Henrik "GG6" Englund Wilhelmson. A message from Wilhelmson reads as follows:

"I'm sorry to say that I got some sad news for ya'll! I will no longer be a part of Amaranthe. After 2 years at home caused by corona, something hit me. I freakin’ loved being at home with my family and started to dream about doing something else. Something more important and also to NOT spend more time away from my kids. For many reasons I also slowly stopped enjoying life on the road with Amaranthe. It became more of a job and something I pushed myself to do. Not like back in the days when I had some serious fun all the time! I want to thank all my fans for your support over the years and I promise I’ll be back with killer 'GG6' stuff in the future when the mood and creativity finds its way back to me! Cheers n love and good luck to Amaranthe in the future."

Amaranthe added: "We fully respect and understand Henrik's decision, and we wish him all the best on his future adventures. Henrik is truly one of the world's foremost growlers, as anyone who have seen him rip through our songs live knows, and we can't wait to see what he comes up with next! Keep your eyes peeled to his socials to stay up to date with forthcoming GG6 madness! This summer’s shows will be performed by two special guests, stay tuned!"

The Dark Side Of The Moon Shares Enya Cover

The Dark Side Of The Moon, consisting of members of Feuerschwanz, Amaranthe and Ad Infinitum, have released the second single and music video since their formation – their version of Enya’s The Lord Of The Rings – The Fellowship Of The Ring theme, "May It Be". The original song is the soundtrack to one of the darkest storylines of the whole saga, spreading hope when there seems to be none left.

The Dark Side Of The Moon is accompanied by Charlotte Wessels on the song and video. The haunting duet passages of Melissa Bonny and the exceptional Dutch singer let the song shine in a completely new way. Energetic drumming and a great guitar solo add new highlights to the song that, already with the second song of their career, showcases the versatility and talent of this newly founded band.

The Dark Side Of The Moon on "May It Be":
"Today we are proud to present our second song! On our musical quest through the mystic worlds of fantasy movies and games, we take you on a journey through Middle Earth, to the Undying Lands!! In honor of Tolkien’s unmatched epic tale, the 20 year anniversary of the movies and the upcoming series, we present you our version of “May It Be” - a version that you never would have expected - that’s a promise! And on top of that, we are beyond proud to have a very special guest in this song, the amazing Charlotte Wessels, who is riding with us to take this song to the next level!" More...

Amaranthe Posts "Fearless" Music Video Online

The day has finally come for Amaranthe to share their declaration to the world: The Swedish metal heroes' most epic album to date, "Manifest", is out today!

Amaranthe commented:
"So, we come to it at last! We are so very proud and happy to finally unveil 'Manifest' to the world, an album written with so much pure joy and enthusiasm, and yet very nearly did not see the light of day. When faced with the decision to record the album despite a world wide pandemic, the answer was the same as when we canceled tours that were supposed to promote the album: we have to release this album in 2020! As our long-time listeners are well aware of, Amaranthe believes in positive, energetic and uplifting music, and we feel that such sentiments are more needed than ever before! Easily our most confident and convincing album to date, this is music born out of pure passion and eagerness to create. This is our manifesto, and all our aesthetic aspirations made apparent - this is 'Manifest.'

"Fear - perhaps the most primal of instincts and most ancient of proclivities, and yet despite all our recent technological marvels our tendency towards fear only grows. Perhaps the great paradox of our time: we have never been materially safer, yet never more exposed to the ills and misfortunes of our truly global civilisation. This very primal urge is pure currency for both political and financial gain, and the more we give in to fear, the more it enslaves us. However, inside each and every one of us there is also courage, conviction and determination. It is in the face of adversity that we grow the strongest - so heed your inner warrior, pay homage to bravery - and transform into the 'Fearless!'" More...

Amaranthe Releases "Archangel" Music Video

All dreams are shattered, all hopes are lost - but out of the fuming ashes of apocalypse, there's a new star rising high into the blackened sky: Today, Amaranthe release "Archangel", the third single from their upcoming album "Manifest", to be out October 2nd, via Nuclear Blast.

A merciless but on point modern metal extravaganza coming with brutal riffs, a tempting chorus and hellish vibes - long story short: An infernal pleasure that makes you want to trade your soul for the fallen angel.

Amaranthe commented: "Fire and brimstone! Savour the sweet scent of sulphur as Amaranthe delves deep into Miltonian lore with 'Archangel'! An ancient tale of the fall of the angel Lucifer Morningstar was interpreted as a Greek tragedy in John Milton's seminal 'Paradise Lost', and it is from this perspective we tell a brief yet momentous story of greed, betrayal and overblown pride - an all too familiar and contemporary theme. Amaranthe's first collaboration with Poland's visual grandmasters Grupa13 took us from abandoned and ghastly factory halls in Wroclaw to the derelict ruins of Swiny Castle among the Polish mountains. Light up your incense, fill your goblet and delight in a darker shade of Amaranthe!" More...

Amaranthe Begins Recording New Album

Sweden's finest modern metal heroes Amaranthe have entered the studio in Denmark to start working on the recording of their new album - just one hour before the Danish borders were closed!

The band, now in quarantine, states: "By now, some of you know that we will start the recording of our new album today, Monday 16th March. It is an odd feeling to continue operations while large parts of the world are on lockdown, and the music industry is suffering greater than most other businesses - but we find it extremely important to soldier on, as we refuse to be beaten by this disease. It also means that we are effectively isolating ourselves, as everyone should as much as possible. We were set to travel to the studio on Sunday 15th, but as the Danish government decided to close their border with only a few hours notice, we had to make a very sudden and daring escape from Sweden into Denmark, ending up at an utterly deserted Copenhagen train station about one hour before the lockdown. We were quite literally the only ones making our way INTO the country, while everyone else was trying to get OUT.

"As you can no doubt imagine, people think that we are mad. Many of you are now in voluntary or involuntary isolation, and we will try our best to entertain you with regular updates from the studio! The album, already in this early phase, is something we feel incredibly strongly about, and we think you will no doubt know what we mean when you get to hear it later this year. Stay safe, wash your hands, keep your distance from the elderly and the sick - spread the love, not the virus!"

Amaranthe will update their fans daily about what's happening in the studio, so check their social channels to stay up to date!

Powerwolf Makes Bristol Howl

While tour packages can often cater to fans of a specific sound, it can be said that the best lineups are ones which offer something for everyone. Last week, German power metal quintet Powerwolf rolled into the south west of England to perform at the SWX club, bringing countrymen Kissin' Dynamite and Scandinavian band Amaranthe with them. The tour promised a lot but did it deliver? Read on MacDuff...

Kicking off proceedings tonight was German glam metal outfit Kissin' Dynamite. The band are all in their twenties but have already released six albums and been around for over a decade and it's little surprise that they've been going so long while they're so young, because they put on one hell of a show. They make it known that their mission is to "bring back stadium rock" while at the SWX club may not be Madison Square Garden, the quintet create a huge atmosphere, which begun immediately with the awesome opener, "I've Got The Fire." Kissin' Dynamite has a really powerful sound which seems like it'll work in any setting, pounding skulls with such songs as "Sex Is War" and "I Will Be King," the latter of which was accompanied by frontman Hannes Braun going full Freddie Mercury and taking to the stage in crown and cape. A fantastic reminder of just how fun heavy metal can be, Kissin' Dynamite will only get bigger. More...

Bloodstock 2018: Day Three

All good things must come to an end, as they say. And so it was that after two days full of metal, the Bloodstock Open Air festival drew to a close with one last blast of high octane music. It's strange to say about a metal festival, but given the amount of children and seasoned rockers in the audience over the course of the weekend, it can honestly be said that Bloodstock is fun for all ages, not just in terms of the festival and its fairground attractions, but for some of the bands who performed over the weekend too.

As had unfortunately been becoming a tradition, I missed out on the opening band on the Ronnie James Dio stage and instead got to the main area to see progressive metal outfit, Evergrey. Having witnessed some of their set at 70000 Tons Of Metal this year, it was interesting to see the band in a different light, quite literally as the atmospheric lighting of the ship's ampitheatre had been replaced with the cold, grey skies of the East Midlands morning. Attending the festival with a group of prog metal fans, I can safely say that the Swedes delight their fan base and target audience. Their long, intricate pieces are a must see for fans of the style but for those who aren't so keen or consider themselves more of a casual fan, this brand of music might do a lot to excite and certainly doesn't help wake you from the night before.
