Swedish melodic metal forerunners Amaranthe has officially entered the studio to work on the follow up to 2014's breakthrough album "Massive Addictive," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart upon release and which enjoyed healthy U.S. rock radio airplay in support of the singles "Drop Dead Cynical" and "Digital World."
The new album is due out on Spinefarm in October. Watch the teaser below.
Amaranthe will spend the summer laying waste to stages at all of the relevant European rock festivals before embarking on a near-constant global touring schedule after the album's release.
"As some of you no doubt have heard by now, we have entered Top Floor studios with Jakob Herrman in Gothenburg to record our fourth album," said guitarist Olof Morck. "It is extremely exciting to be back in the creative zone after spending two years traveling the whole world in support of 'Massive Addictive.' We will spend one month here recording drums, bass and guitars before once again moving onto Jacob Hansen's studio in Denmark for vocal recordings and mixing."
He continued, "We are beyond thrilled about the new material, which is certainly Amaranthe's most diverse so far; our trademark bleeding edge modern metal is ever present, but fused with an even wider range of genres than before, featuring everything from stadium rock, the latest in pop music innovation and danceable super-hits. Expect these tunes to enter your mind permanently, never to leave, later this year!" More...
Amaranthe just released the digital-only compilation "Breaking Point B-Sides 2011-2015" and the band is also on tour in the U.S.
To herald the B-sides release and the ongoing trek, the band has dropped a video for the acoustic version of "True," the original of which lives on 2014's "Massive Addictive" (reviewed here). Check out the clip below and see Amaranthe live on these dates: More...
Amaranthe will be releasing a digital-only compilation of B-sides on October 30, 2015. "Breaking Point - B-Sides 2011-2015" will feature eight tracks, and the band also comments:
"As some of you know, Amaranthe has recorded quite a few b-sides and bonus tracks throughout the years. We've always tried to keep the quality high, as something extra for our fans, but until now a lot of these tracks have been hard-to-find rarities, and quite spread out. We are now very excited to release a collection of some of the best b-sides and bonuses: Breaking Point: B-sides 2011-2015. It focuses on some of the best acoustic renditions of fan favorites as well as a couple of originals from the early days! Enjoy this rare and different side of Amaranthe."
1. Hunger (Acoustic)
2. Afterlife (Acoustic)
3. Amaranthine (Acoustic)
4. Burn With Me (Acoustic)
5. Trinity (Acoustic)
6. True (Acoustic)
7. Breaking Point
8. Splinter In My Soul
Additionally, Amaranthe will soon release a new video for the song "True," which lives on 2014's "Massive Addictive" and which is acoustically rendered on the B-sides release.
"With the high-octane energy of singles/videos 'Digital World' and 'Drop Dead Cynical,' we wanted a slightly more mellow third single," guitarist Olof explained. "The choice fell upon 'True,' which provides a great contrast with its hopeful yet melancholy lyrics and style. To match this with the perfect video, we once again turned to mastermind Patric Ullaeus, and the result is an inspiring and engaging take on how your dreams and visions don't always turn out the way you planned. But instead, there might be something greater than you hoped for down the line, as long as your heart stays true." More...

Amaranthe has debuted the song "Drop Dead Cynical" online from new album "Massive Addictive," due out October 21st on Spinefarm Records. The track premiered online via Loudwire today (also available below).
Commented guitarist Olof Mörck, "The first piece of music to be released from Massive Addictive is a very representative track. 'Drop Dead Cynical' is as massive as it is addictive. This ultra groovy song is a markedly different first single compared to classical Amaranthe single choices, and it takes our trademark sound in fresh and exciting new directions! Top that off with an anthemic chorus, and the result is what I consider one of the absolutely strongest Amaranthe songs ever!" More...

Sweden's Amaranthe, known for fusing melodic metal with elements of EDM, will release their third album "Massice Addictive" via Spinefarm Records on October 21. The album was tracked at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica) at the helm. It marks the first release for the band's third vocalist Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson, who joined in 2013.
"'Massive Addictive' is true to its title. The band's signature, larger-than-life sound, comprised of kinetic riffing, pulsating beats and celestial, melodic choruses, remains in tact, but the album finds Amaranthe continuing to explore a range of dynamics and with a willingness to push themselves even further."
Guitarist Olaf Mörck (Dragonland) commented: "We have lived and breathed this album every hour and every day the last year, and to know that this music is about to reach everyone's ears is beyond exciting. Following the first leg of The Nexus World Tour, we sat down and agreed that we wanted the next album to be really fresh, new and even to raise a few eyebrows, all while retaining our signature sound."
He continued, "'Massive Addictive' is in every way that huge leap forward we wanted to achieve and the album definitely contain our strongest song writing to date. The press often asks us to 'describe the album with three words'; this time, the answer is simple - it's MASSIVE, it's ADDICTIVE, and most importantly, it's AMARANTHE!"
The track listing for the release is:
2. Drop Dead Cynical
4. Massive Addictive
5. Digital World
8. Over and Done
9. Danger Zone
11. An Ordinary Abnormality
12. Exhale More...

"We could not be more pleased to announce that we will be supporting Within Temptation on their North American tour this fall! I have loved Within Temptation's music for almost ten years, so it will be an honor to support them. But most of all, we can't wait to see our amazing American fans again, and make a bunch of new ones!"

Amaranthe - the modern metal sextet from Gothenburg, Sweden - has confirmed an autumn 2014 release date for a new studio album via Spinefarm Records.
As yet untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to 2011's self-titled release and 2013's "The Nexus." Guitarist Olof Morck comments:
"2014 will indeed see the release of the next Amaranthe record. We don't want to reveal any details yet, apart from this album representing a big step forward for Amaranthe musically - where 'Amaranthe' and 'The Nexus' were closely connected, this new album is bolder and more different... but, of course, with the trademark Amaranthe sound throughout! See you all on tour this spring with our last 'Invincible' shows - and expect blown minds in 2014!"
Amaranthe will be on tour in Europe from March 14th - April 12th in Europe. Full details can be found at this location.
As a gift to fans, Amaranthe has released a 2013 tour recap video, covering seventy four shows on 4 continents throughout the year. Check out the footage below, or you can watch the band's previously posted music video for "Invincible" at this location.
The third single from Amaranthe's sophomore album "The Nexus" is out now, accompanied by a video directed by Patric Ullaeus.
The video was shot on location in Hollywood, Las Vegas, the Nevada desert, and the Grand Canyon, amongst other locations. Comments guitarist Olof Mörck:
“Invincible is probably my favourite Amaranthe song so far, and it’s very exciting to see it finally becoming a single and a video! We had an absolute blast shooting it, and this time we flew in Patric Ullaeus and his crew to some kick-ass locations around the USA. People have come to expect elaborate videos from Amaranthe, but this one certainly takes the cake!" More...

The weekend festivities of the second and third day of Tuska started a bit later for me, but still managed to start with a bang that resounded for the whole weekend! With a lineup a bit less intense then the first day, there was a lot of room to really observe performances and finally get that summer festival feeling. Both days featured very different genres, but as always with Tuska, there is truly something for everyone, even if that something is as simple as ice cold cider and a cool breeze on a hot day.
