The Rockstar Ramblings: A Big John Sighting

Poison will be featured in VH1’s new Live & Loud series. When asked about his show in Minnesota (where Bret Michaels was playing) he commented, “I didn’t get to meet Bret Michaels, but did get to meet Big John, and he’s the main guy on that show Rock of Love”. KISS Completes New Album

Rock legends KISS has confirmed that they have finished work on their brand new studio album. A message from vocalist/guitarist Paul Stanley reads as follows:

"If you been reading KISSOnline, it's no surprise to you now. We ARE done recording our new album.

"What might well be a surprise is that at the least, the album is right up there with our best. As much as we may have tried at some other times to achieve this, the chemistry, line-up or lack of total commitment from everyone might have been cause for it being impossible. Not now. Not this time.

"I know that when you hear it you will agree.

Gene Simmons Posts Update On New KISS Record

Iconic KISS bass player Gene Simmons has posted an update regarding the bands new studio album. It reads as follows: "Our new album (title of which you'll just have to wait a bit longer for) is just a few steps from being completely done. We're planning on re-visiting one of the eleven songs, to make sure it's gotten everything it deserves. Maybe re-arranging it one last time. Then, time to mix.

"The entire writing and recording process of the album harkened back to an earlier, more innocent time. A time that produced albums such as Rock And Roll Overand Love Gun. And, the new songs have that feeling, I have to say.

"It all started with a point of view Paul had. The view had to do with ignoring the times, ignoring the critics, not over thinking who and what we are...and that we had nothing to prove to anyone....nothing. We have been releasing albums and touring for 35 years and why wouldn't we want to do an 'honest' record. Just do it!!! And, he wanted to produce the album himself!!! More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: The Strip Club Factor

Jani Lane (Warrant) has had a rough couple of weeks. First, he is pulled over and charged with a DUI. Next, the band Warrant puts out a press release notifying the world that Jani is no longer part of their band. Finally, it comes to light that Lane owes over 100K in federal taxes. Stay strong Jani Lane, you still have your ballads. They can’t take your ballads. Keep repeating that to yourself. It’s going to be okay… More...

The Rockstar Ramblings: Top 5 Strip Club Songs

Gene Simmons Speaks On New KISS Album

In a recent interview with Ohio's QFM96, Gene Simmons spoke a little about the new KISS record and what to expect from the album. Simmons states:

"It's the first studio album in 11 years. You can't force those things - it's in your blood and it's happening. I have to say, this might be the best new record we've done since Destroyer. In fact it has a similar sound; Rock And Roll Over meets Love Gun sounding record. That's coming out in September/Octrober and then we will be doing a 60-city American tour."

The Rockstar Ramblings: Size Does Matter

As we stumble upon the summer tour season we constantly hear the phrase “big” tour. Whether it is in reference to the number of bands playing, number of asses in the seats, or size of the stage show, a lot of bands claim to own the “big show” title.

Bands like Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, and Aerosmith (among others) for years have touted their tours in this regard and all (to some degree) have a right to throw their hat in the circle. This year is no exception: Kiss is following up a new album with what they are calling their biggest show ever, Metallica is again filling arenas on the road, and festivals drawing many bands are still going strong. Does tour “size” need to be qualified? Probably not, but what the hell….I personally haven’t given much thought to this until this week when I read the following: As AC/DC prepares for their Australian tour there is word that they will need forty-eight semi trailers to haul their equipment. Forty-eight trailers? I’ll let that one hang there for a minute… More...
