Vicious Rumors Parts Ways With Drummer

American power metal pioneers Vicious Rumors has announced that they have parted company with drummer Larry Howe, ending his third stint with the band. Howe's politics were cited as the main cause, with the band claiming that they had lost several bookings in Europe as a result. A statement from the band reads as follows:

"After years of disagreement on the issue, Vicious Rumors will no longer be touring with long time drummer Larry Howe. As a band we have never agreed with Larry's personal political ambitions. As hard as it is to let an original member go VR can no longer tolerate being punished by association for Larry's personal opinions. They do not reflect the opinion of Vicious Rumors. Our message is simple and clear: Unity ! and celebrating Heavy Metal together! This message hasn't changes since VR started in 1979! We wrote songs like " World Church to bring people together. That's our message for Vicious Rumors.

"Out of respect to VR, Larry will honor the band's commitment to the U.S. leg of 'The Devil's Asylum Tour' just days away from Feb 25th to March 28th. We want to thank Larry for all these years of commitment to the band and his incredible musicianship. We'll announce a new touring drummer soon.

"Now let's get back to the Heavy Metal Music doing the talking! See you VR maniacs on tour in the US and Europe soon. 75 shows starting in one week!

"Let's go!" More...

Former Vicious Rumors Singer Returns To The Band

Get well Ronny, welcome home Brian!

On July 24th within 5 hours of catching a flight to Germany to perform with Vicious Rumors singer Ronny Munroe cancelled by text message. The band still doesn't really know what happened. It must be bad because he won't take phone calls. He released a statement asking for privacy so the band won't try to pressure him for details and they ask that everyone please respect his wishes.

A few days later another text came in, officially stepping down from Vicious Rumors due to medical reasons. All this was a real shock to the band. Vicious Rumors would like to wish Ronny a full and speedy recovery.

With major festival commitments the band called on their former lead singer Brian Allen who within 24 hours picked up 16 songs and totally killed it at the legendary Headbangers Open Air festival in Germany.

Geoff Thorpe: "Brian really saved the day! To find out Ronny was injured and wasn't coming a few hours before his flight was bad enough. It puts us in panic mode for sure... half the band was already in Germany. Brian stepped in like he never left and we had a kick ass show! "

Geoff adds further: "The promoter of the Headbangers Open Air said it was one of the best shows in the 25 year history of the festival"

After the last text from Ronny stepping down it's time to move on. Brian Allen is back! No shows will be cancelled, a new album is on the way. This will be Brian's 3rd studio album along with 1 live album and a live DVD.

70000 Tons Of Metal 2023: Day Two

Rise and shine sea dogs! The second day of 70000 Tons Of Metal 2023 dawned and with it came the knowledge that the Pool Deck, perhaps the most notable stage on board the ship, was open for business with plenty of favourites ready to let their sound ride the Caribbean wind. Opening the stage was German power metal veterans Freedom Call, perhaps the happiest metal band on Earth, though personally, I was less than chipper to wake up just after they'd finished their set, missing out on the fun in the sun. So after a quick shower, it was time to head up to the eleventh floor for my first taste of sea air and outdoor metal this year.

Despite missing out on Freedom Call, perhaps there was no better way to get into the spirit of things than by witnessing one of your bucket list bands, which in my case was Dutch death metal legends, God Dethroned. The quartet has been on a roll since their second return in 2014, releasing two excellent albums with a third reportedly in production and watching this lineup, it's safe to assume that God Dethroned has never been healthier. They looked as if they were enjoying themselves as much as the fans were and songs like "Poison Fog" and "No Man's Land" sounded absolutely amazing. Perhaps the biggest surprise was just how quick it was to take to the band's new single, "Asmodevs," which may have even been the highlight of the set. God Dethroned not only met expectations, they exceeded them. More...

Vicious Rumors Working On New Album

Geoff Thorpe from Vicious Rumors has checked in with the following update about the band working on a new album:

"Brothers and sisters, 2014 was a great year for VR! The ball just keeps rolling with our first tour of South America coming up this December! Another new frontier for Vicious Rumors.

"As you know, 2015 marks the 30 year anniversary of 'Soldiers of the Night!' Festivals and special sets are being planed as we speak...the best is yet to come!!! Don't forget, we're doing this for YOU, the fans, our loyal VRazors.

"VR is not a nostalgia act, never was. 11 studio albums, 4 live albums and the recent 4 albums in 4 years are a proof of that, right?!

"That's exactly the reason why the band is in full song writing mode for next years studio album!!! The best VR line-up in 20 years is a guarantee for killer heavy metal! The new studio album is going to be out in 2015!!!

"Yes, It's classic VR, heavy, melodic, guitar driven riff monster, with our double bass thunderbolt brutality! This is going to be our 12th studio album and it will be KILLER, believe me! Our last two albums were some of our most successful albums ever with major world tours and countless amazing concerts, festivals, ship cruises and more! Those albums proved to people that Vicious Rumors is, after 35 years of playing heavy metal, still a group at the cutting edge of metal!
VR are 100% committed to pushing forward! Metal on!"
