Mystic Festival Announces Changes In Program

With so many bands and the festival being planned months in advance, changes are inevitable. This year Sun Dont Shine, Necrot and Health will not be able to come to Gdansk. The first two bands canceled all their participation in European festivals, while Health had to reschedule their trip to Europe.

“Unfortunately, we’ve encountered significant logistical complications beyond our control that have made our appearance impossible. We are devastated to miss this opportunity to connect with our Polish fans”, said the band's statement published on Instagram.

Kirk Windstein, one of the founders of Sun Dont Shine, also issued a special statement for you: “I (We), would like to apologize for having to cancel the June 2025 run for Sun Don’t Shine overseas. We were really looking forward to doing it but are unfortunately unprepared. Our album will not be released in time and we all have not had the opportunity to get together as much as we planned due to obligations from our other bands that we are committed to also. We will be there soon and are so sorry. We just want to deliver 100% and we feel that with the other obligations we have and the album delay, that we would not be able to”.

Luckily, we were able to find fantastic replacements for all the those who have cancelled their performances.

The Bug is Kevin Martin, well known back in the 1990s to fans of GOD, Techno Animal and Ice, genre-breaking projects in which he collaborated with Justin Broadrick of Godflesh. Later, by the time as The Bug, Kevin drifted off into dub, dubstep and hip-hop, but always remained a faithful follower of bass, heaviness and noise. No wonder his latest album, Relapse released “Machine,” is described by the label as a dub version of Swans. Are you ready to be grinded by this machine?

Ufomammut celebrated a beautiful anniversary in 2024 - 25 years of existence, 10 studio albums. It was enough to establish themselves as one of the most remarkable European representatives of that wave of heavy music, which we owe to Kyuss and Neurosis. The one that carries with it the piled-up influences of classic hard rock, and also doom, and stoner, and sludge, and psychedelia. These Italians will bring us the perfect soundtrack for space rituals.

Drab Majesty is the coldest wave - or, as they call themselves, Tragic Wave - straight out of Los Angeles. They're actually more than a band, more of a stage experiment in which Deb DeMure and Mona D ask themselves and their audience questions about identity and the nature of creativity. And at the same time, it's damn good dance music, lined with darkness and despair.

New York hardcore? That flame will never be put out. Stray From The Path fuel it with fuel drawn not only from veterans of the scene, because in the group's music you can also hear the influence of Rage Against The Machine and nu metal. They called their live album “Smash 'Em Up,” and yes, there is a legitimate concern that they will smash you up.

Employed To Serve have titled their latest album “Fallen Star” (due out April 25), but this British band's star is rising and shining brighter and brighter. The metalcore quintet perfectly balances emotionality and technique, and Justine Jones, who fronts it, keeps on cutting with her razor-like voice.

Sphere released an album titled “Blood Era” in 2022, but in fact the bloody death metal era of this Warsaw-based band has been going on for two decades. No shortcuts, no compromises - pure brutality straight from hell. And that's right, “Inferno,” Sphere's newest album, will be released later this spring.

The festival will feature, among others: King Diamond, Sepultura, In Flames, Bullet For My Valentine, Opeth, W.A.S.P., Apocalyptica, Suicidal Tendencies, Cradle Of Filth, Turbonegro, Jerry Cantrell, Blood Fire Death – A tribute to Quorthon and the Music of Bathory, Exodus, Perturbator, Jinjer, Landmvrks, Eagles Of Death Metal, The Bug, I Am Morbid – “Domination” set, Hatebreed, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, Dark Tranquility, Tiamat, The Kovenant, Cattle Decapitation, Whitechapel, Death Angel, Elder, Municipal Waste, Polaris, Nile, Alcest, Beherit, Oranssi Pazuzu, Ufomammut, Midnight, Vader - "Litany" set, Imminence, Paleface Swiss, Eyehategod, Halocene, Green Lung, Pentagram, Combichrist and Skeletal Remains.

Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 4th through 7th, 2025.

Tickets are available now on the Mystic Festival homepage here More...

Download Festival Announces First Sixty Bands

The organisers of Britain's Download festival have announced the first sixty bands to play at the event's twentieth anniversary next year. Of note, Metallica will be performing two headlining sets, while the other headliners will be Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. A statement from Metallica reads as follows:

"Open up the summer calendar as we’re super excited to announce that we’ll be celebrating the Download Festival’s 20th anniversary with not one, but two headline nights on June 8 and 10, 2023! It's been over a decade since we hit the stage in Donington Park, so we’ll be making up for lost time with two unique and completely different setlists with no repeat songs whatsoever that weekend.

"This year’s festival will take place over four days and we’re lucky enough to start the party on night one, June 8th. Hitting the stage as headliners the other two nights are Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. The long weekend will be jam-packed including Evanescence, Parkway Drive, Disturbed, Pendulum, Architects, Ghost, The Distillers, Placebo, Alexisonfire, Asking Alexandria, Motionless In White, I Prevail, The Blackout (reunion), Fever 333, Stray From The Path, Lorna Shore, Nova Twins and Municipal Waste, with many more still to be announced.

"Fifth Members may purchase tickets now. General tickets are on-sale at 10 AM on Thursday, November 10th."
