Messa Signs With Metal Blade Records

Metal Blade is very happy to welcome Italian Doomster Messa to it's Worldwide roster!

Messa play evoking doom metal with middle-eastern vibes. Deliciously haunting female vocals, 70‘s guitars and Arabian Oudh combine to conjure a sound that is all of their own. With influences as diverse as Dead Can Dance, Om, Swans, Killing Joke, Electric Wizard, Thergothon, Current 93, the band has moved from the first occult then noir-tinged doom metal of their previous works to a new atmospheric mediterranean sound which is unique. The evolution is clearly showcased in their latest studio album "Close."

Messa emerged in the first day of 2014. Marco and Sara started to develop the basic concept while writing the first songs. Later on, Alberto and Rocco joined the band. The extreme diversity of their musical background immediately proved to be essential in the construction of the band‘s sound. In 2016 their first opus "Belfry" was released, and the band made several tours across Europe and the USA. In 2018 their second work "Feast For Water" brought the band on tour even more extensively. Their latest studio work "Close," released in 2022, was acclaimed by critics and was defined "the sound of a band fleshing out their place in doom metal's past, present and future" (Metal Injection). Some appearances made by the band were Hellfest Open Air, Roadburn, and Desert Fest. The band‘s latest record "Live At Roadburn" was released April 7th 2023, offering their main-stage triumph, joined by a unique constellation of musicians and instruments. Seeming to both embrace and defy everything it means to be a metal band, Messa mesh Mediterranean sounds with crushing doom riffs, with an emphasis on atmosphere and unusual use of instrumentation.

Comments Messa: "We're glad to announce we've joined forces with legendary Metal Blade Records. We are beyond stoked to become part of the incredible legacy of this label, marking their catalog with our music. Since 1982 Metal Blade has put fundamental metal artists on the map, and being in this labels' roster is a big honor for us. We can't wait to share some glimpses of what we are working on! In the meantime you can catch our live shows in the following European cities, list below." More...

Jake E. Lee Shot Multiple Times In Las Vegas

Legendary guitarist Jake E. Lee, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands, as well as his own project Red Dragon Cartel, is expected to recover after being shot multiple times in the early hours of this morning (October 15th) in Las Vegas while walking his dog. Authorities believe that the shooting was completely random. Lee (real name Jakey Lou Williams,) is currently awake and responding well in an Intensive Care Unit. No further information is currently available.

Jake E. Lee began his career as an early member of Ratt and would soon find himself in Rough Cutt before being invited to become a part of Ronnie James Dio's initial eponymous band, though he would quit Dio shortly after joining. He then joined Ozzy Osbourne's band, for whom he wrote and co-wrote several songs on the albums, "Bark At The Moon" and "The Ultimate Sin," before being fired over the phone by Sharon Osbourne. Lee then formed Badlands with drummer Eric Singer, bass player Greg Chaisson and brief Black Sabbath vocalist Ray Gillen, who released two studio albums before disbanding in 1993 following the passing of Gillen. His most recent project, Red Dragon Cartel, was formed in 2013 and released a self-titled album the following year, with a second record, "Patina," following in 2018.

Patriarkh To Release New Album In January

Polish black metal icons Patriarkh (formerly Batushka) return with a clear and fresh vision as they unveil their new concept album, "Prorok Ilja," out on January 3, 2025. The Napalm Records debut unveils eight new compositions and immerses the listener in the true story of Eliasz Klimowicz, the titular Prophet Ilja, set in the 1930s and 40s. Following the success of their critically acclaimed album, "Hospodi" (2019), and relentless touring around the globe, the new band looks towards a bright future! Firmly grounded in Eastern Orthodox traditions and music, Patriarkh blends black and doom metal with haunting, dark religious concepts.

Today, Patriarkh unveils their first single, "Wierszalin III," accompanied by a visually striking official music video, capturing an Orthodox mass. "Wierszalin III" showcases the band's signature blend of Orthodox sacredness with melodic folk instruments, infused with towering doom metal elements in which harsh vocals unite with rising choirs (featuring A. Strug & M. Malenczuk). This crushing, colossal-sounding blend creates an instantly distinctive sonic experience.

Patriarkh on the new single "Wierszalin III":
"‘Wierszalin III’ is the first single that announces our new release Prorok Ilja (Lat.) and it probably best reflects the diversity and musical multidimensionality of this album. Just as the titular Prophet Ilja built New Jerusalem in Podlasie, we are building our new identity and showing our new musical face. Listen and share your impressions…" More...

Slaughter To Prevail Drops New Single "Behelit"

Russian metal powerhouse Slaughter To Prevail has released their highly anticipated new single, "Behelit." This track marks a significant evolution in the band's sound, showcasing their most dynamic and eclectic work to date while staying true to their trademark heaviness and ferocity.??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? The song is accompanied by a video with animation from acclaimed Manga series, Beserk. You can check it out below.

Frontman Alex Terrible elaborates:
"I don’t usually watch anime, it’s not for me, but 'Berserk' is different. Guts, the main character, he is not like any other warrior. His determination to become the strongest fighter—this is something to respect. But what really gets to me is how he is shown—ruthless, unstoppable, yet with some hidden vulnerability, like you never know what he will do next. Guts is not just fighting enemies; he is battling demons from another world, trying to save humanity from things beyond understanding. What’s interesting is, he doesn’t think of himself as a hero—many times, it seems like he even hates the responsibility of protecting others. But still, his honor makes him continue, driven by something much deeper than just glory. His huge sword is like a symbol of his strength—it’s almost like a metaphor for life. We all have our burdens to carry, and it’s on us to deal with them the best way we can.

"Actually, my Kid of Darkness character, I take a lot from Guts. There is something very strong, very real in how Guts fights, and I want to show this. Kid of Darkness, it is not only about being brutal—it is about fight inside, like you carry heavy things you never ask for, but still you face them. Guts, he never gives up, even when everything around him is bad, this is what I feel close to. This way of thinking, it is what I try to do in my life, on stage and not on stage too." More...
