Dark Funeral's Dominion Gets His Learn On
Line up changes for Dark Funeral. Guitarist Dominion left the band to concentrate on his studies. Here's what Lord Ahriman stated: “A great opportunity to continue his education presented itself to him and he wanted to take advantage of it. On October 28th Dominion will enter the University to continue his studies. Dominion felt that while studying he could not give 100% to the band and felt it better to resign his position. He had recently felt his lack of motivation to dedicate himself to a full time touring band was not fair to the band, and also wanted to explore other musical options. Dark Funeral completely understands this and has no hard feelings. Dominion is their friend, comrade and brother, and they wish him all the best for the future. Dominion will however do the Asian tour with Dark Funeral and will officially resign upon its completion.”

Judas Priest to take a Break
Judas Priest have announced that they will be taking a lengthy break following the completion of the group's recent world tour to rest before beginning work on the band's next album, which is not expected to surface before late 2004.
"I want to make at least two more albums with Judas Priest," guitarist Glenn Tipton recently told Metal Hammer magazine. "It is wonderful to have a part in creating the music of Judas Priest — I enjoy it and, as always, I would like to do at least one more tour. Also, I want to [pursue] a few solo [projects] — especially the album that I had recorded with [drummer] Cozy Powell, who tragically passed away four years ago. I would like to finish it and dedicate it to his memory, because he was a good friend of mine and he did a fantastic job [on the album], and I want people to hear it. I also have some solo projects that I will try to [pursue] if I get the chance, but Judas Priest are my first priority. I still want to produce other bands and I am interested in composing music for films."
Devin Townsend/SYL Updates
Canadian madman Devin Townsend has released the following update on his various projects:
"Everything is chugging along. I haven't slept in weeks. I want to make clear that I've got nothing to prove with any of these records. It's just what I felt like doing. People wanted another Strapping Young Lad, and I didn't want to let my solo fans down, so I did a solo record as well. A divine comedy ceremony of opposites? Nope. A kick-ass futuristic hard rock album, and a shit-storming heavy metal record. No bullshit, no filler, no overly cringe-inducing pretense, just solid, well produced music that kind of epitomizes both ends of my spectrum at the moment." More...
