Ex-Guns N' Roses Members Seek Vocalist

Ex-Gunners SLASH, IZZY, DUFF and MATT are looking for a singer for the yet to be named band. Slash told MTV about the search process, "I'll know it when I hear it. Right off the bat, I'll know. We're just trying to find a really great f---ing rock and roll singer, and it's really hard to find anybody that you'd consider genuine, and it's also somebody who's got to fit in with us. It's not impossible, but it's not easy. It could be somebody known, or somebody unknown, who's just a star and doesn't know it." The band would even consider a female if it fit the vibe. Slash also insisted this was not a GNR renuion or an intention to rival AXL ROSE, explaining thatt this was a separate band both in name and musically.

Grieving The Days to Come Split

Seattle, Washington metal/hardcore band Grieving The Days To Come has reportedly called it quits, just three months after releasing an EP on Tribunal Records. The decision to break up was apparently made this past weekend as a result of "different priorities" amongst bandmembers. Posting on a message board, vocalist Nick Soularie stated the following: "Grievingthedaystocome will no longer be a band. I would like to thank everyone that has ever come to a show, or supported us in anyway. You have made the past couple years a great experience for me.... [there] probably will be other bands, but this one is a little hard to give up."

Borknagar to Record in 2003

Borknagar mastermind Oystein G. Brun gives the following update: “The recording of our next album will start early next year. We estimate to use about 4-6 months to record the album, as we want to use the time needed to get the album as close to perfection as possible. The album will be recorded in the same recording facilities as last time (Fagerborg and Toproom Studios) with Børge Finstad behind the desk. Musically the album will be a continuation of Empiricism. Apart from that, we deem the right to keep the rest as a secret... he,he.... As of yet, there is no title for the album, but some song titles are ready: ‘Cyclus’, ‘The Inner Ocean Hypothesis’, ‘The Wonder’, ‘Quintessence’, ‘Future Reminiscence’ and ‘Relate (Dialogo)’.”

In related news, after years of toiling over the idea, Brun and Vintersorg will finally do a side project together. Entitled ION, the band will record an album in 2003.

It's Child's play for Necrophagia

To coincide with their upcoming full-length album, The Divine Art Of Torture, Necrophagia will be shooting a video for the song 'Rue Morgue Disciple', as Killjoy decided to lay down a little surprise: "Necrophagia will start filming the first video for 'Rue Morgue Disciple' and it will be directed by my four year old son Daemon! As unconventional as it sounds, the outcome will be hideous! I will basically let him decide what he wants to put in the video; he"s not the typical four year old by any stretch of the imagination. He has a great love of horror films, everything from Friday The 13th to Coffin Joe. His mother was opposed to letting him see anything overtly violent or bloody but at age two he would wake up and sneak in and watch movies with me, starting with Universal Monsters etc. and gradually moving on. He understands completely that nothing in the films are real, he knows how blood and F/X are done and he's been telling me he wants to make a movie for about a year. I'm in a position to make this happen via the 'Rue Morgue Disciple' video and now that his mother has finally given us the green light we'll start immediately! So far he has mentioned 'zombies, monsters and ghouls...' and the outcome will be uploaded to Necrophagia.com ... Fulci Lives!!!!!!"

Skycamefalling Call It Quits

New York's Skycamefalling have surprisingly decided to call it quits after six years and two full-lengths.

"After six years of doing something we care so passionately about, Skycamefalling have decided to call it quits," stated the band on their official website, www.skycamefalling.com. "The split was a band decision that was completely amicable and by no means was attributed to bad blood between band members or lack of effort. We all reached a point in our lives where other endeavors began to take precedence and sacrificing something we felt so passionate about would be unfair to ourselves, as well as our fans."

"The desire to finish school and tap into other formidable outlets of our lives requires our 100 percent dedication, leaving the dedication we put towards making this band what is was, secondary," continued the statement. "We've always maintained an 'All or Nothing' philosophy in this band. Pushing ourselves and striving to be the best we could was fueled solely by our fans. We thank you." More...
