Ace Frehley Passes After A Bleed On The Brain
Ace Frehley, also known to fans as "Space Ace," the founding lead guitarist of Kiss, has passed away at the age of seventy four. Frehley suffered a fall in his studio last month which forced him to cancel upcoming shows, and suffered a bleed on the brain as a result. Earlier today, numerous sources claimed he was in intensive care and that family members were weighing up whether to remove his life support. It has now been confirmed that they did so, and the rock star passed away a few hours afterwards. A statement from his family reads as follows:
"We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!"
Frehley was the final founding member to join the band which would soon become Kiss. He would go on to perform on all their albums from their eponymous 1974 debut until 1981's "Music From The Elder," though he was credited on the following release, "Creatures Of The Night." He would later rejoin the band in 1996 and perform on the album, "Psycho Circus," before parting ways with the band once more in 2002, returning to his solo career and releasing his third album, "Anomaly" in 2009.
Abbinormal To Release New Album In December
Milan-based death metal band Abbinormal are set to unleash their long-awaited third album, "Italia’s Gore Talent," on December 5th, 2025 via Ad Noctem Records. Recorded at the renowned Toxic Basement Studios and completed in March, this new chapter promises to be the band’s most ferocious and unhinged work to date.
Described by the band as “a grotesque and ferocious critique of the spectacle of violence and social distress — a true showcase of sonic madness in pure Abbinormal style”, "Italia’s Gore Talent" offers a visceral soundtrack to modern decay.
Today Abbinormal unleash the video for their first single "Hippopotamus."
Band’s frontman Eric states: "‘Hippopotamus’ is the track that we chose to represent Abbinormal's new studio album!
"A song that embodies all the hallmarks of our sound: extreme speed, groove, attitude, and that cutting irony that has always distinguished us. We chose this song as our first single because it best represents what we define as "Hellcore": a mix of ferocity and originality that leaves no escape. Of course, there will be much more on the album: more experimentation than ever before and a sound that fully embraces the metal universe. Let the march of the most dangerous animal on the planet accompany you on this new, crazy, and visionary journey." More...
Møl Reveals New Album Details
Møl has announced their forthcoming album, "Dreamcrush," set for release on 30th January 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records. On their third studio record, the Danish alt-metal visionaries push the boundaries of creative expression even further. "Dreamcrush" tempers the band’s sharpest, most jagged edges with soaring alt-rock hooks, while exploring the tension between dreams and reality, the ways aspiration can sustain or overwhelm. By steeping even their most aggressive moments in melody, Møl delivers their most explosive and affecting work to date.
Ahead of the album, Møl have unveiled their first single "Garland," accompanied by a cinematic video directed by longtime collaborator John Bradburn and filmed on location in Denmark. Starring acclaimed actor Kim Sønderholm alongside the band, the video unfolds as a stark and haunting reflection of the album’s central themes.
Drummer Ken Lund Klejs comments on the new single: "’Garland’ emerges as the first single from 'Dreamcrush.' The song represents the broader scope of the album, yet only hints at the full journey, its shape and texture revealing fragments of the evolving sound and lyrical depth that define the record.
"With each release, Møl are seeking to weave powerful imagery into both sound and vision, forging a sense of coherence across the singles while expanding the themes of "Dreamcrush." To bring this vision into focus, Møl once again worked with filmmaker John Bradburn, whose eye and creative spirit we fully trust to illuminate the album’s core ideas." More...

Dold Vorde Ens Navn Introduces New Vocalist
Dold Vorde Ens Navn has announced that Simon Peter Hovind aka Svik will henceforth take over all vocal duties of the Norwegian black metal veterans.

"We welcome Simon to our pack with proud hearts and high expectations," bass player Cerberus states on behalf of the band. "We have of course chosen our new vocalist carefully and we know what he is capable of. Trust us, you have not witnessed his full potential yet. You can check him out live at some great festivals next year. While talking about our line-up, we are using this opportunity to point out that our second guitarist Morten Aaveren had already joined us as a permanent official member before 'Mørkere' was released – which should clarify this matter once and for all." The Hirsch Effekt To Release New Album In January
Since their formation The Hirsch Effekt have carved out a unique niche in heavy music, embracing limitless possibilities. Yet, despite - or perhaps because of - their elusiveness, the band has captivated a devoted audience.
Today, the trio from Hanover, Germany, announced their seventh studio album, "Der Brauch," due 30th January 2026, via Long Branch Records. In conjunction with the album news, the band are giving fans a taste of the new work with the release of the title track. You can check out the song below.
While earlier works, despite their diversity, were still labelled “metal albums,” this new record explores paths first hinted at on the multi-layered second album, "Holon : Anamnesis" - the same album regarded as one of the best German-language records of all time. "Der Brauch" can be seen as a return to that pivotal point - and simultaneously as a bold step forward. Drummer Moritz Schmidt doesn’t entirely forgo blast beats, but the record demands a new heading. In the end, though, there is only one truth: it unmistakably sounds like The Hirsch Effekt. More...

Overkill And Forbidden Added To Mystic Festival
East Coast thrash pioneers took their name from a Motörhead track and their inspiration from both metal and punk. Their cover of The Subhumans’ “Fuck You” perfectly captures the essence of their live shows - uncompromising, raw, and driven by pure joy of playing. Decades may pass, but Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth’s gritty vocals and D.D. Verni’s crushing bass still sound like the living definition of thrash metal.
And, one of the Big Six of the Bay Area, masters of thrash that fuses imagination with technical precision. For years, Forbidden have been a breeding ground for talent – their members went on to play with heavyweights like Slayer, Machine Head, Testament, Exodus, and Nevermore. After a long hiatus, the band returned to the stage and will come to claim what’s theirs in Gdansk…
Mystic Festival will take place in Gdansk, Poland at the Gdansk Shipyard on June 3rd through 6th, 2026.
