Below is our complete Havok news coverage, including columns and articles pertaining to the band. Some articles listed may be indirectly related, such as side projects of the band members, etc.
Former lead guitarist of Denver, Colorado thrash metal outfit Havok, Shawn Chavez, has passed away. He was only 30-years-old. Chavez was a member of Havok from 2004 - 2010.
Frontman David Sanchez has issued the following statement:
"It is with deep regret that I must inform fans, friends, and family of Havok that Shawn Tyler Chavez, the former lead guitarist of Havok, passed away on April 30, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 30 years old. Shawn was the very first lead guitarist of Havok and helped forge the band's sound in the early years. Without Shawn's dedication during the first 6 years of the band, Havok would not be where it is today. More...
David Sanchez from Havok has checked in with the following health update after breaking his wrist:
"As many of you know, I broke my left wrist a few months ago and we had to cancel a week of shows on our tour with Crowbar.
"Well, here's some GOOD news... It has been about a month since my wrist surgery, so I figured I would update everyone on my status. The surgery went well and I have been working hard to rehabilitate myself quickly. The doctors have even told me that I am healing much faster than average!
"That means that once this thing is fully healed, I will be back to playing guitar like normal and we will wrap up the writing on the new HAVOK album. We plan to record the new album later this year. You guys are gonna love what we've got cookin'... Prepare for massively heavy, evil riffage!
(We will make up those cancelled dates as soon as possible.)
"Thanks so much for your continued support of the band. I love and appreciate you all!"
Havok vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez has broken his wrist and the band will be forced to miss several dates on the current tour with Crowbar, Revocation, Fit For An Autopsy and Armed for Apocalypse.
The band will rejoin the tour in California in early October with Revocation's Dan Gargiulo will be filling on guitar while Sanchez returns on vocals.
Here's more in Sanchez's own words:
While hiking in Boulder, Colorado, I took a pretty nasty fall and ended up shattering my left wrist. Since I'm currently unable to play guitar, our friend Dan Gargiulo from Revocation has offered his 6-string services and will be laying down the riffage for the rest of our stint in the USA. I will still be doing vocals on the remainder of the upcoming shows and I cannot wait to get back on the road!
I'd like to apologize to anyone that was looking forward to seeing HAVOK in these coming days. We will definitely make it up to you. In times like these, one must remember the ancient American proverb, "Shit happens." See you on the road!!
One last thing! Here is some good news for a change. Pete's mom is making a full recovery from her recent accident and that means Pete Webber will be back behind the kit rejoining the tour in California. We want to thank Marshall Wieczorek from Wretched for stepping in on drums and doing an awesome job on such short notice.

"As some of you may have heard, my mother was in a tragic accident and is in very serious condition in the ICU in Boston. This unfortunately means I will have to miss out on at least a portion of our future shows. I must be by mom and family's side during these difficult times...Our pal Marshall from Wretched will be filling in on my duties.
"He is a good friend of ours and a great drummer! I know he will do an awesome job in my absence! I hope everyone understands and keeps my mom in their positive thoughts and prayers. It helps in a big way to have the support! I will return as soon as I can to my bros in Havok and wish them all the best on this next run!"

Century Media Records is pleased to announce the signing of Denver, Colorado's Havok. The young thrash metal quartet has worked nonstop releasing 3 albums and touring the world the past 5 years and is poised to take its career to another level.
"We're so excited to sign with Century Media!" exclaims guitarist Reece Scruggs. "Their reputation as a front running metal label is obvious. Timeless albums that have influenced us as individuals, and as a band, have been released through the label, and we aim to become a part of that tradition."

The Denver thrashers in Havok have premiered a new video for "Chasing The Edge" taken from the band's third full-length album on Candlelight Records, "Unnatural Selection."
Produced by guitarist David Sanchez, mixed by Terry Date, and mastered by James Murphy, the album features original artwork from Polish illustrator Rafal Wechterowicz. David Sanchez comments on the new video:
"In case you couldn't tell by the video, 'Chasing the Edge' is about space exploration. This song is dedicated to Nicolaus Copernicus and his groundbreaking idea that sparked the modern scientific revolution. Without his bold observations that turned the Church on its head, you might not be reading this text on a computer screen right now! The lyrics are dictated from Copernicus' point of view, but of course, the meaning of the song can be interpreted in many different ways.
"Astronomy is very humbling when you realize that we are an incredibly tiny part of the cosmos. No matter how self-interested our society becomes, it should always be remembered that we are not the center of the universe... There is just SO much out there. Every time I look up at the night sky, I can't help but contemplate the possibility that somewhere out there, there are creatures looking at our star; Wondering, like myself, about the possibility of life near our tiny pinhole of light, which we call the Sun. Peering into the vast ocean of suns above our heads is a mind-expanding exercise and I recommend that people do it more often. What greater fountain of mystery and wonder could you possibly look at with your own two eyes?
"We live in a historic time of human triumph and incredible discovery. It would be a shame to let these advances in understanding go unappreciated. We should be grateful for revolutionary thinkers like Nicolaus Copernicus and always remember, like the song says, 'That an open mind has the biggest impact.'" More...

Directed by Roy Warner who worked on both "From the Cradle to the Grave" and "Point of No Return" clips, the tune comes by way of the recently unleashed "Unnatural Selection" full-length and accoridng to a press release "addresses the eight stages of genocide: classification, symbolization, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation, extermination and denial."
Released earlier this year via Candlelight Records, "Unnatural Selection" was produced by Terry Date (Pantera, Overkill, Deftones) and mastered by James Murphy (Testament, Death).
Havok is currently wrapping up a massive North American live takeover that kicked off on July 20th in Juarez, Mexico and included a stop at this year's Heavy Mtl Festival in Montreal. Additional Fall dates will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for details.

“I am super pumped on how the drums came out,” chimes drummer Pete Webber. “We recorded the drums in a theater to get a huge sound. It was a challenging experience for me between time constraints and the drum parts having much more feeling in them. I believe the added pressure made for some really awesome stuff. I can't wait to unleash this album to the world.” More...

Denver thrashers Havok have premiered their latest video for the song “From The Cradle To The Grave," taken from the 2012 EP, "The Point Of No Return." Check out the clip below.
The video, directed by Roy Warner, was filmed on location in Detroit during the band’s final tour of 2012 alongside Skeletonwitch. The premiere coincides with the band’s continued work on an upcoming third full-length album.
Discussing the song’s lyrical inspiration, vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez says, “‘From The Cradle To The Grave’ is about America's first serial killer, H.H. Holmes. In the late 1800s, in Chicago, Holmes built a hotel specifically with murder in mind. It included doors that opened up to brick walls, staircases that lead to nowhere, and one-way rooms that once you entered, you never came out. He was a religious man and firmly believed that since he was born, the Devil was at his side. That being said, bang your head.” More...

Havok’s latest video has premiered today via Bloody Disgusting. “Point Of No Return” is the title track to the band’s EP, released last Spring as a tide-me-over while the band continued non-stop touring.
The video was directed by Roy Warner and filmed on location in Detroit, Michigan and can be viewed right here or in the player below.
Discussing the video, vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez elaborates, "The lyrics of ‘Point Of No Return’ are highly interpretable, but the message of the video pretty simple: The world as we know it is a delicate place and we have never had such a high capacity to destroy the human race as we do now. At some point, our self-made concoction of nuclear/biological weaponry, ancient superstitious beliefs, nationalism, corruption, ignorance, and conflicting ideologies is going to become lethal, on a global scale. We live in a time like no other and it’s obvious that if we don’t change our behavior, it’s only a matter of time before the world is extinguished at the hand of fanatics. It’s literally within everyone’s power to leave the world a little nicer than we found it. Don’t believe everything you’re told: Think for yourself.”
Director Roy Warner notes, “Working with the guys from Havok was great. They had awesome ideas to start out with and build from; wanting to showcase real life as the concept. It really illustrates the depths of human depravity in the past, present and what we can expect from the future if attitudes don’t change.” More...
