Metal Injection is hosting an exclusive video premiere of “D.O.A.,” the latest work of cinematic awesomeness from Denver thrash sensations, Havok. The tune comes off the band’s "Time Is Up" full-length (reviewed here), released via Candlelight Records earlier this year. The video was directed by Josh Gold and shot in various locations around Denver.
Commented vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: “This video is a reflection of the lyrics to ‘D.O.A.,’ a song about drunk driving and smashing your face through the fucking windshield! It’s a pretty brutal video for a brutal song.”
Ibex Moon records, one of America's premiere outlets for black and death metal, will be giving away CDs to the first 100 gore fiends to enter the Goregrowler Ball's blood-stained premises. This brutal grab bag will be offered on all three days, so make sure to show up early.
The Metal Underground-sponsored event takes place November 18th-20th at the Korova Club in San Antonio, Texas. Make sure to come out and have your eardrums bashed in by such vaunted artists as Suffocation, Exhumed, Solstice, Nokturnel, Havok, Phobia, Brutal Truth and Goatwhore.
Everyone has gaps in their experience, even with things they love. I, for example, have never seen "Caddyshack," despite enjoying comedy films. So when the call came from HQ for me to cover the MetalUnderground.com sponsored North American tour of Exhumed, Goatwhore, and Havok, I was a little thrown – who were these bands and what did they play?
I knew a little of Goatwhore from various heavy metal publications, and Havok had been getting some good pub on MetalUnderground.com recently, but I knew little of their music. And Exhumed, a goregrind band from Northern California, had been completely off my radar up until now, as grind isn’t my bag. But I figured this was a good shot for completely unbiased show viewing. So I pulled on my man-pants, grabbed my helmet, and did this thing. More...

Sick Drummer Magazine has posted drum cam footage online of Havok's Pete Webber destroying his kit to “Time Is Up,” the title track off the band's current full-length out now on Candlelight Records. The video is part one of a series of drum cam videos that will lead up to the band’s upcoming North American tour later this fall. Commented Webber: “We filmed these videos so you can get up close view of the drums that you don’t always get to see! Hope everyone enjoys!”
Denver thrash warriors Havok will embark on another punishing support trek this Fall alongside headliners Exhumed, Goatwhore, and Cephalic Carnage. Set to commence on October 26th in New Mexico, the tour will lay waste to nearly two dozen cities and come to a close in Flagstaff, Arizona on November 20th.
Said vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: “I’m fuckin’ psyched! This lineup is HEAVY! I’m a fan of all of the bands that we’ll be playing with, so this is gonna be really fun. Even better, we finally get to tour with Cephalic Carnage. It will be cool to show people how bands from Denver throw down. If this tour is anything like our last run with Forbidden, there are going to be some gnarly pits and bloody noses. Anyone that’s going to these shows should be prepared to have a sore neck.”
Added drummer Pete Webber: “We are pumped to announce our tour with Exhumed, Goatwhore and Cephalic Carnage this Fall! Our last tour with Forbidden was one of the best yet and we hope to keep the heat going with this one! We will be hitting some cities where HAVOK has not played in awhile and you all better show your metal faces there!”

This video has it all: hair, guitars, fire, smoke, planes… everything a metalhead would need in a music video! Havok is gearing up to join Bay Area thrash legends Forbidden for a near month-long journey that will kick off in West Hollywood, California and level 20 more North American cities before drawing to a close in Escondido, California. Confirmed dates below: More...
Young Denver thrash battalion, Havok, which recently wrapped up a tour supporting Florida death metallers Malevolent Creation, is gearing up for two very special treks. The first is a short run of headlining dates that will commence in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 3rd and run through to Amarillo, Texas on May 12th. From there, the band will head home for a short break before joining Bay Area thrash act Forbidden, for a near month-long journey that will kick off in West Hollywood, California and level 22 North American cities before drawing to a close in Escondido, California. Also joining the tour will be Revocation and White Wizzard.
Commented vocalist/guitarist David Sanchez: "Starting May 3, we'll be heading out for a west coast run. Touring the west coast was how we got our start, so it always feels like home. It will be great to return for some head-smashing headline shows. Then in June, we'll be doing a US/Canada run, coast to coast, with Forbidden, Revocation and White Wizzard! I am so psyched to be touring with all of these great bands! Forbidden is one of my favorite thrash metal bands and I really hope to hear some songs from their first two albums. Revocation is one of my favorite bands to have come out in the last 10 years and they're all friends of ours, so I'm super pumped to get to hang out with them every night! I anticipate White Wizzard to be epic-as-fuck every night as well. I'm very excited to be a part of this tour because I feel that it will be one of the best metal packages of the 2011. Metal fans definitely won't want to miss this tour. Prepare for some massive amounts of headbanging. Looking forward to seeing you all on the road!"

Metal Underground recently reported on the North American tour dates for Forbidden, Havok, Revocation and White Wizzard. Los Angeles metal traditionalists White Wizzard are set to play their first shows since the return of vocalist Wyatt Anderson.
White Wizzard bassist and founding member Jon Leon comments:
"I am very excited to be touring with Forbidden. Forbidden was my favorite band of the Bay Area thrash/metal scene back in the day when I was a kid. I also hold them in the highest regard in musicianship, song writing and technical ability.
"Their first three albums, "Forbidden Evil," "Twisted Into Form," and "Distortion" were all big influences on me and inspired me to want to be a musician. I saw many a show back then, and there was no band in that scene that could pull off a live show better than Forbidden. Russ is one of the few GREAT singers in metal history and he is the best of ALL TIME in the history of thrash. That includes the so called "Big Four."
"I was so bummed they split in the late '90s, and when they reunited I went up to the Bay Area to see them and it was still magic. I have seen them twice since and they are just getting better and better.
"It is great to go open for a band I respect so much and the best part will be being able to watch their set every night!! Forbidden is a special band and it is great they are back making music and touring again. We are very thrilled to be along for the ride this time."

Havok has covered Slayer's "Postmortem/Raining Blood" as an exclusive iTunes "Time Is Up" bonus track. "Time Is Up" (reviewed here) is the Denver thash metal band's sophomore album and was just released on March 29, 2011, via Candlelight Records. Check out the cover below:
Friday, March 18th marked day three of SXSW Music. I attended the afternoon session entitled “Writing About Music in the Twenty Tens,” as it sounded like a great fit for what we do here. It was actually more geared toward the individual writer, but was applicable nonetheless. The panel of speakers had some prepared questions and discussed the need to learn multimedia and how writing professionally is a skill set in itself. Some of the examples about the latter were particularly interesting - writers get asked to do a wide range of things and the thinking is that rising to the challenge makes you a better writer. They also talked about saving your articles so that over time you’ll have enough material for a book or some sort, and discussed self publishing vs a book deal and how to find a good agent who works with your topic/kind of book (and recommended agentquery.com for searches).
There were two big day shows to choose from on this day: The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival at SXSW and MetalSucks’ “South by South Death.” I had planned to stop by the NEMHF before heading to the MetalSucks event. The New England Metal and Hardcore Festival was being held across the street from Emo’s in a tent. Being highly visible on the main strip, and featuring more well known bands, it was already packed and there was a line to get in - no special treatment for having a badge even. That made it a no-brainer to walk a block down the street to Headhunters to check out the MetalSucks event.
When I arrived, it had yet to start, but Meek Is Murder was setting up just minutes later. The main floor of Headhunters is not very big, especially if you don’t count the stage, sound board, and bar. I’d guess there’s about 15’ x 25’ of usable floor space. Meek Is Murder began playing to the dozen or so people there at the time. Their sound lies somewhere under the progressive hardcore umbrella. I liked the more progressive parts, as well as the occasional cool riff or groove, but was not a big fan of the screamy hardcore parts. But it was still an enjoyable half hour set anyway. More...
