Killswitch Engage Win Boston Music Awards

2007 has proven to be a sweet year for metal maestros KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. After headlining The Vans Warped Tour, getting awarded a Gold RIAA certification for 2004's The End of Heartache, and seeing 'Holy Diver' crash into the Top 10 on the Active Rock charts, KsE kicked off December with two climactic wins at the Boston Music Awards.

The band procured not only Outstanding Metal/Hardcore Band of the Year, but also took home Act of the Year, one of the biggest awards of the night.

Since the band is currently on a co-headlining tour with LAMB OF GOD, they could not physically attend the ceremony, but did send a rhapsodic video acceptance speech from the road. Proving metalheads have hearts, too, they showed their gratification by donating an autographed guitar to be auctioned off for the benefit of the Music Drives Us Foundation, which helps keep music in the lives of unfortunate children.

Waving a fond farewell to 2007, Killswitch Engage will welcome the new year with a winter headlining tour with the hyperpowered DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN and EVERY TIME I DIE, and openers PARKWAY DRIVE (whose debut
release was produced by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz). The tour officially ensues January 9th, in Allentown, PA and finishes in Hartford, CT on February 5th.

Killswitch Engage Bassist "No Album Before 2009"

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE bassist Mike D'Antonio has told Billboard.com that his group is unlikely to release a new studio album before 2009.

After that, I believe then we're gonna start talking about writing a new record."

KILLSWITCH's 2004 release, "The End of Heartache", was recently certified gold. "We've always been one of those bands that's just slow and steady selling, not one of those pop artists that sell a million off the bat," D'Antonio noted. "We just chug along, the little band that could. Our accountant came to us and was like, 'You guys really need to think about getting houses or you're gonna get screwed on taxes pretty bad.' I guess that shows the band's working out."

Killswitch Frontman Wants To Work on BHBS Again

As Killswitch Engage prepare for their tour with Lamb of God, frontman Howard Jones revealed to Metal File his desire to work once again with Blood Has Been Shed, the band he led before replacing Jesse Leach in KSE back in 2002. "We'll probably do something else again," he said. "It's still just [drummer] Justin [Foley] and I, [guitarist] Corey [Unger] and [bassist] John [Lynch], and we'll probably record something again. We might drum up something here, because the band's been around for quite a bit of time, and we need to celebrate our anniversary and put out something — maybe do a few new songs. We'll reconnect at some point, because it's something we've tossed around. It's just a matter of everyone connecting." Meanwhile, Killswitch guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz is continuing to work on his side project, Burn Your Wishes, with Unearth's Ken Susi, Seemless' Dave Pino and Derek Kerswill, and former Poison the Well bassist Iano Dovi

Pig's Head To Crown S.S.S. London Performance

Tomorrow night, Merseyside thrashers S.S.S will step out onto London's Brixton Academy stage as one of the support acts for US metallers Killswitch Engage. In their true underground and frenetic style, S.S.S look set to deliver a show-stopping performance to the 5,000 capacity London venue. Speaking out about his plans for the gig, the band's enigmatic frontman Foxy has stated:

"Last time SSS was in London they cut our sandwiches into triangles. We're not taking any chances at Killswitch. We're bringing our own packed lunch and our SSS mascot pigs head. Once we have fed our faces the crowd can taste the scraps."

The pig's head was famously tossed amongst frantic fans at the 'Thrash Gig' that S.S.S held in Liverpool earlier this year. This video footage of the raucous performance of crowd favourite 'The Beast' should provide a taste of what to expect from S.S.S at the London gig.

You can catch S.S.S at a string of smaller venue gigs on the following dates:

05.10.07 UK BIRMINGHAM The Market Tavern

LAMB OF GOD will be wrapping up the Sacrament album cycle with this tour. After 18 months of touring with Slayer, Megadeth, Ozzfest, Heaven and Hell, and headlining runs in the US, Japan, Australia, UK and Europe, LAMB OF GOD will take 2008 off to prepare for a new CD. Thy Will Be Done Signs To Stillborn Records

Providence, Rhode Island based Thy Will Be Done has signed with Stillborn Records and is set to release their debut full-length "Was And Is To Come" on October 23, 2007. The release marks the first collaboration between the Providence outfit and Stillborn Records, and will be distributed nationally through Caroline Records/EMI. Completed in early-2007, "Was And Is To Come" features a guest vocal appearance by Jesse David Leach of Seemless (ex-Killswitch Engage), was produced, engineered and mixed by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Behemoth with Jamey Jasta as executive producer.

"Their approach and sound is raw, stripped-down, and straight up aggressive with a message that needs to be heard," commented Jasta on why he chose to work with Thy Will Be Done. Encompassing various facets of the metal spectrum, "Was And Is To Come" is marked with a plethora of core influences that range from vintage Sepultura and Carcass, to the southern rock sludgy vibe of Crowbar.

For vocalist J Costa, the importance of being a metal act driven by musical integrity is clear. "So many bands are making albums filled with regurgitated riffs and obligatory breakdowns that it's become evermore difficult to distinguish one band from another. It's time for the next generation, a generation built upon ideals, ethics, integrity and passion, to breathe new life into the lungs of the culture. It's time for a generation to wipe the slate clean and take its rightful stance upon the original foundation."

Throughout the years Thy Will Be Done has provided support for national acts such as the Misfits, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, and Converge. As the release draws near, Thy Will Be Done is set to hit the road and plans to spend the rest of this year and much of 2008 touring in support of "Was And Is To Come."

SSS To Support Killswitch Engage In Brixton

Fresh from playing a sell-out gig with US thrashers MUNICIPAL WASTE at the the London Underworld on Friday, SSS (SHORT SHARP SHOCK) are set to take their underground thrash sound straight to one of the city's largest venues.

On October 3rd the Merseyside crossover thrashers will play their largest show to date by supporting KILLSWITCH ENGAGE at London's Brixton Academy. This news comes just as a wave of excitement surrounding the thrash scene in the UK has escalated, following the release of SSS's Short Sharp Shock in June, and the upcoming release Enter The Grave from Huddersfield thrashers EVILE on August 27th.

Speaking about the upcoming gig, SSS vocalist Foxy states: "Reason we are doing this gig is when are we ever likely to step onto a massive stage like that ever again? I dont know how many thrash bands would fill a venue that big. But KSE asked for us and we said yer. Colchester is the day before as well. Eggs, sweaty socks, used undies and pigs heads will delicately flutter down on the crowd. We playing London on October 13th as well. Venue TBC.

Rememeber how SEND MORE PARAMEDICS went down when they supported OFFSPRING? They got all sorts lobbed at 'em. Did 'em no harm and went down in history for doing it. It will be the crowd that needs a blues brothers chicken net. Not us."

KSE And Lamb Of God To Tour Together

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE bassist Mike D'Antonio recently did an interview with Greg Maki of Live-Metal.com. Excerpts follow.

Live-Metal.net: How big is it to have [guitarist] Adam [Dutkiewicz] back on stage with you? [NOTE: This interview was conducted before Dutkiewicz left the tour due to his back injury.]

Mike D'Antonio: It's awesome, but he's still not really taking care of himself the way he should. This is his first tour back since January, and he already started doing all the old stuff that he used to do. You just can't do that anymore. He's gotta calm himself down. So right now he's actually looking to get another MRI 'cause he's not sure if he can make it to the rest of the tour.

Live-Metal.net: How serious was his injury?

Mike D'Antonio: It was his second back surgery, and whenever there's a back surgery, there's chance of paralysis, there's a chance of being in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. So going through it twice, every time he's going to have some sort of surgery, his ratio's gonna go down, down, down, down till he is going to be in a wheelchair. So we don't want it to get as bad as it did in January at all. We will send him home right away. Right now, it's just kind of a nervous, like, I hope he's OK, I hope he's feeling right. We've done everything we possibly could. We don't let him carry anything besides his guitar. We gave him a back room in the bus where it just has this big bed so he can kinda stretch out 'cause he's a tall guy, he's like six-four or something. The rest is up to him.

Live-Metal.net: What's next after Warped Tour? Do you know yet?

Mike D'Antonio: After Warped Tour, we are going to do a Scandinavian tour. It's gonna be like three or four weeks. We're gonna do Russia for the first time. We're really excited. Moscow and St. Petersburg. After that, LAMB OF GOD tour in December, co-headlining. We're really excited.

Live-Metal.net: Is that back here?

Mike D'Antonio: Yeah, in the U.S. And it might be like a December, quit for Christmas, come back out and do a January run, as well, with those guys. There is a little talk about maybe SUICIDAL TENDENCIES being on that tour, possibly EVERY TIME I DIE being on that tour. So it could be a big one.
