Rocklahoma will rock the Midwest with a lineup featuring Kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, Twisted Sister, Deftones, Motörhead, and many more from May 23rd - 25th at “Catch the Fever” Festival Grounds in Pryor, OK. The three-day camping festival is presented by Bud Light.
The current band lineup for the 8th Rocklahoma is as follows: Kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, Twisted Sister, Deftones, Seether, Motörhead, Jackyl, Filter, Black Label Society, Theory of a Deadman, Killswitch Engage, Skid Row, All That Remains, Tom Keifer of Cinderella, Hellyeah, Kix, Down, Pop Evil, Adelitas Way, Black Stone Cherry, Trivium, Texas Hippie Coalition, The Pretty Reckless, Thousand Foot Krutch, Redlight King, Skindred, KYNG, We As Human, Nothing More, Devour the Day, Heaven’s Basement, Gemini Syndrome, Butcher Babies, Eve to Adam, Truckfighters, Killer Dwarfs, Bai Bang, Lynam, ASKA, Black Tora, Firstryke, Mystery, Nasty Habit, Sleepy Hollow, Wicked, Down & Dirty, Loveblast, Ruff Justice, Ratchet Dolls, Ragdoll, Dellacoma, Chaotic Resemblance, Scattered Hamlet, Siren, Mach22, Tempt, London's Dungeon, Mine Enemies Fall, The Chimpz, Sleepwalking Home, Well Hung Heart, Framing The Red, Blackwater Rebellion, Dryver, and Dirty Crush.
“I initially questioned whether or not we would be able to top last year’s Rocklahoma lineup this time around,” says Joe Litvag, Rocklahoma’s co-executive producer for AEG Live. “But with some of the biggest names in the rock world today like Kid Rock, Five Finger Death Punch, Seether and Deftones playing alongside Rocklahoma legends like Twisted Sister, Jackyl, Tom Kiefer of Cinderella and Kix, there is not a doubt in my mind that we just raised the bar! Memorial Day Weekend will never be the same!”
Dee Snider of Twisted Sister explains: "I view this festival as sort of a ‘Royal Rumble’ of rock; it's every band for itself, each trying to claim the belt. When Twisted Sister is done that night, the promoters are going to need to change the name of the event to 'I Wanna Rocklahoma'!"
Staind’s Mike Mushok also says, "Totally stoked to play Rocklahoma again! I'm looking forward to a great day of music shared with some amazing fans!”

Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, or leading Dio. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, but his towering voice and legacy live on.
To celebrate one of rock’s most powerful voices, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album that will raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
Produced by his longtime manager and wife Wendy Dio, the album includes contributions by such metal heavyweights as Metallica, Motörhead, Scorpions, Anthrax, and Rob Halford, as well as appearances by many of the musicians who performed with Dio over the years.
"This Is Your Life" will be available from Rhino on April 1st, 2014. The track listing is as follows:

In the second official episode of the Metalunderground.com podcast (and third installment overall), hosts Kevin Perez (n0thinghead) and Mike Smith (OverkillExposure) discuss two major current topics, one of excitement, and one of general dismay. In case you can’t wade through the whole shebang, we’ve provided timestamps as signposts to help you along the way.
Ever since British extreme pioneers Carcass knocked it out of the park last fall with their long-awaited return “Surgical Steel,” speculation has run rampant regarding a similar comeback effort from a group of contemporaries: Gothenburg metal fathers At The Gates.
Disbanded in 1996 and reformed in 2008 for the specific purpose of touring, At The Gates in January 2014 began teasing fans with cryptic hints of something brewing in the studio. To little surprise but great delight, Century Media Records recently confirmed the band’s signing for a new album titled “At War With Reality,” the first since 1995’s influential “Slaughter Of The Soul.” [00:01:07] Check out your hosts’ wealth of opinions on this anticipated momentous occasion.
On a drearier note, Kevin and Mike next take aim at the embarrassing spectacle of the recent Grammy Awards [00:15:13] and its decidedly out-of-touch grasp on metal culture. From the Best Rock [00:16:10] and Best Metal [00:19:27] Performance categories, to Metallica’s bizarre rendition of “One,” [00:24:47] to the botched broadcasting of a joint performance by Nine Inch Nails and Queens Of The Stone Age, [00:30:43] to the posthumous snubbing of Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman, [00:45:14] fan reactions to the ceremony ranged from the puzzled to the disappointed to the downright insulted. This conversation tackles all three – and then some.

Back in December the Grammy nominees for "best metal performance" were announced, and if you've forgotten the lineup was as follows:
"T.N.T." - Anthrax
"God Is Dead?" - Black Sabbath
"The Enemy Inside" - Dream Theater
"In Due Time" - Killswitch Engage
"Room 24" - Volbeat Featuring King Diamond
While many put their money down on Volbeat, it turns out Black Sabbath actually took home the win for "God Is Dead?"
The track was also nominated for "best rock song" and the new album "13" (reviewed here) was up for "best rock album," although Sabbath didn't actually snag a win in either of those categories. Here were the nominations for best rock song and best rock album: More...
The Rock On The Range festival will bring the likes of Guns N’ Roses, Avenged Sevenfold, Kid Rock and many more to Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, OH on May 16, 17 & 18.
To guarantee that festival-goers will experience true, blistering heavy metal during this monumental weekend, Bay Area thrash legends Exodus are also confirmed to bring on the brutality, Saturday, May 17th!
Gary Holt states, “Exodus is super fired up to announce our participation in the year’s Rock On The Range! It’s our honor to share the stage with so many amazing artists and we will do our best to see to it that shit hits the proverbial fan when we take the stage!”

If you haven't been paying attention to your Xbox dashboard over the last six months or so, Microsoft is now offering two free games a month for Xbox Gold members: one on the 1st, and another on the 16th of each month.
This month, the first free game is "Sleeping Dogs," a Grand Theft Auto style game in which an undercover cop takes on Chinese triads. Why does this matter to metalheads? Because the game features the ability to flip through radio stations while driving, and one such channel is dedicated entirely to Roadrunner Records. The station features this soundtrack:
Black Stone Cherry, “Rain Wizard” and “Change”
DevilDriver, “Dead To Rights” and “Bring The Fight (To The Floor)”
Dream Theater, “On the Backs of Angels”
Fear Factory, “Edgecrusher (Urban Assault Mix)”
Killswitch Engage, “My Curse”
Machine Head, “Be Still and Know” and “Locust”
Opeth, “The Grand Conjuration” and “The Devil’s Orchard”
The Parlor Mob, “After All” and “Take What’s Mine”
Soulfly, “World Scum”
Trivium, “Anthem (We Are The Fire)”
The 2013 Grammy nominees in the "Best Metal Performance" category have now been revealed, and are as follows:
"T.N.T." - Anthrax
"God Is Dead?" - Black Sabbath
"The Enemy Inside" - Dream Theater
"In Due Time" - Killswitch Engage
"Room 24" - Volbeat Featuring King Diamond
As usual, there's nothing on the extreme side to be found, but at least actual metal bands have made the list. Anyone want to bet which performance wins?
Keep in mind, last year Halestorm somehow won best metal performance in a lineup that featured Lamb of God, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden, so it seems likely voting for the most rock-focused and least metallic band may be the way to go.
And when you're done with that, let us know what the REAL best metal performance of 2013 should have been - Grammy's be damned!
Battlecross has announced the band will join Killswitch Engage, Trivium, and Miss May I on a run through the U.K. and Ireland, which kicks off in Dublin on January 29th, 2013.
It will be the Detroit outfit's first outing there and the band is looking forward to it:
"Battlecross is so stoked to hit the UK with Killswitch Engage, Trivium and Miss May I as our first overseas tour ever and thank them for having us on this awesome tour!
"What an honor it is to share our first UK experience with these bands and we're ready to thrash with you, our new friends! Thank you all who have been waiting so patiently for Battlecross to come overseas, and we promise that it will be worth the wait!
"Expect nothing less than swift hard kick in the arse from our live show and hope you like us enough to have us back very soon. Can't wait to rage and have a pint or four with our UK fans! Until then, please hit up our website and send us a message with your email address so we can stay in touch and meet up before, during and after the show AND We'll write you back! Please keep checking the Metal Blade UK page for updates and giveaways until then!!"

Killswitch Engage has released a video clip for the song "Always," which can be viewed below, and front man Jesse Leach comments:
"We’ve just release a special short film created by our friends McFarland & Pecci for our song 'Always.' This song is a unique one on the record and I wanted the video to really stand out, to mean something. My hope is when people watch this video, it impacts them enough to cause them to stop and contemplate their own lives."
The Merciless Book of Metal Lists presents a very special show for the 2013 CBGB Festival in NYC. This intimate affair features Massachusetts metal giants Killswitch Engage at the 400 capacity Santos Party House on Saturday October 12th.
“This was originally going to be a secret show for our book release back in the Spring, but schedules didn't allow for it, so we stayed on it, and decided to do it for CBGB Fest,” states "The Merciless Book of Metal Lists" author Howie Abrams. He adds, “Killswitch Engage is one of my favorite bands; one which has reinvigorated metal in recent years, and we’re proud to be working with them to make this great night happen.”
Killswitch Engage is about to head out on tour in the U.S. with the mighty Lamb of God, with support from Testament and Huntress, and also wanted to offer up this unique event to its most loyal fans. NYC and tri-state area fans can catch KsE on this upcoming tour at Roseland Ballroom in NYC (Oct-25) and at Starland Ballroom in NJ (Nov-22).
Additionally, proceeds from the show will be donated to The FC Foundation, an organization whose mission is to fight cancer by raising awareness and to educate about early cancer detection, in an attempt to put an end to late-stage cancer diagnoses.
Support for KsE will come from NYC's heaviest ladies (and two gentlemen) Eye Ra Haze, whose atmospheric brand of metal compliments the evening perfectly. KsE encourage fans attending the Santos show to bring proof of their purchased Roseland or Starland ticket to the merch area to claim a special KsE autographed item. Tickets will be on sale Tuesday October 8th at 10 AM via this location. All tickets are $25. Doors will open at 6:00 PM - show time is 7:15.

"Each disc in the set will reflect a period in our history, with artists such Mercyful Fate, Deicide, Brujeria, Suffocation, Type O Negative, Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Dream Theater, Opeth, Gojira, Airbourne, Black Stone Cherry, and Rush being represented.
"Furthermore, the set will feature liner notes written by Decibel contributor Chris Dick in addition to quotes from founder Cees Wessels; legendary A&R guru Monte Conner; and artists such as King Diamond, Sepultura/Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy mastermind Max Cavalera, Trivium frontman Matt Heafy, Opeth leader Mikael Åkerfeldt, Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, and more."
Killswitch Engage has checked in with the following announcement about recruiting a fill-in drummer for upcoming tour dates:
"We have some not so good news to announce. Our drummer Justin Foley recently had a bicycle accident and broke his collarbone. So he will not be able to do this upcoming Asia/Europe tour that begins later this week. Luckily we were able to find a replacement drummer on short notice, so we will not be canceling any dates.
"The replacement drummer will be our longtime friend Jordan Mancino from As I Lay Dying. Barring any unforeseen issues, Justin should be back on track in time for our upcoming North American tour with Lamb of God, which starts in late October. Killswitch would like to thank our Asia and Europe fans in advance for understanding. As always, thank you so much for the support." More...
Long-time friends Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage have joined forces for a can't miss tour in the fall of 2013. The tour launches October 22nd in Toronto and canvases much of the U.S and Canada.
The two bands will combine for 28 North American shows in total. Support for all shows except Los Angeles will be provided by thrash legends Testament, with Huntress opening all shows.
Lamb of God will end the North American portion of the "Resolution" record cycle with this tour. It will include a coast to coast visit to all major Canadian cities which will be Lamb of God’s first visit to Canada on this cycle other than a festival play in June in Montebello and a show in Toronto in January 2012. Lamb of God will then finish the Resolution cycle completely with a visit to Europe and South Africa in January 2014. Details on that tour will be released late August. More...

Roadrunner Records group Killswitch Engage is currently traversing the country on the “Disarm The Descent Tour,” accompanied by special guests Miss May I, Darkest Hour, The Word Alive and Affiance.
The tour lineup was originally to include As I Lay Dying, but the band dropped off the tour after front man Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill his wife.
In celebration of the U.S. headline run Jesse Leach, front man of Killswitch Engage, will participate in a live YouTube chat today, Tuesday June 11th at 1:00PM ET. For the live chat Jesse will be joined by his tour mates: Levi Benton of Miss May I, John Henry of Darkest Hour, Telle Smith of The Word Alive, and Dennis Tvrdik of Affiance.
Killswitch Engage will be posting a link to the live chat on the band's official Facebook page once it is live at 1:00PM ET. Fans will then be able to join in on the live Q&A with all four vocalists and can leave questions for them in the comments section of the video post.
After Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly attempting to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife, the fate of the upcoming As I Lay Dying/Killswitch Engage tour was up in the air. As I Lay Dying has now issued the following announcement about officially canceling the run:
"In light of recent events, As I Lay Dying will unfortunately not be taking part in the upcoming tour with Killswitch Engage.
"Given the circumstances, we feel that it is best for the band to be off the road while the current situation gets sorted. We'd like to thank all of our fans for their ongoing support at this difficult time.
"-Jordan, Nick, Phil, and Josh."
Lambesis' bail was set at $3 million and he currently remains in custody. Further details on the case and footage from his arraignment can be found at this location.
Killswitch Engage will however be continuing on with the trek, bringing on different supporting groups. The band comments:
"Since As I Lay Dying has announced they will not be able to join us on this tour...we would like to welcome Darkest Hour, and The Word Alive on the Disarm the Descent 2013 U.S. TOUR! Please welcome both bands with open arms, ROCK!"
Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz and vocalist Jesse Leach were interviewed by KaaosTV before the band's show at The Circus in Helsinki, Finland on April 16th, 2013. Check out the video clip below.
Grammy-nominated, Massachusetts-based hard rockers Killswitch Engage – singer Jesse Leach, guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, bassist Mike D'Antonio, guitarist Joel Stroetzel and drummer Justin Foley - have announced the first headline tour in support of new album "Disarm the Descent," which debuted at #7 on the Billboard Top 200 and at #1 on the Hard Music Chart.
The tour will feature support from As I Lay Dying and Miss May I, with Affiance opening. Tickets go on sale on April 12 or April 13, depending on the market.
"Everyone in the Killswitch family is excited to get out on our first U.S. headlining tour in support of our new record," Leach said. "We are hitting some great cities and have a great mix of songs from every era of Killswitch as well as of course a handful of new ones."
Leach continued, "We look forward to sharing this tour with our old friends and brothers in metal As I Lay Dying. I personally have never had the chance to tour with them and I am looking forward to having such a quality band out with us to give this tour even more fire! We will also be joined by a talented and up-and-coming band Miss May I. Thanks to all the U.S. fans for your support! Our live show will be full-on energy with all of us ready to take this to a whole new level."
Bassist Mike D. concurred, saying, "We are super excited to be back out with our good buds in As I Lay Dying! They are some of our favorite dudes to hang with on the road, so assumptions are high that utter chaos shall ensue. There will be so much metal riffage -- you could build your own Carnival Cruse Ship. That's right, 'CHUGGA CHUGGA Paralysis' is surely imminent." More...
