"We're not gonna stop touring on this record ('As Daylight Dies') until at least the end of April, and I know we're probably going to do a run of all the festivals in Europe in June and July. After that, I believe then we're gonna start talking about writing a new record."

Why? A combination of them being generic, unoriginal metalcore, emo tinges, meaningless technical bits (which as a tech fan annoy me to no end), an if I remember right they do that annoying Killswitch Engage clean vocals thing where he says "I will bid farewell" like he's preaching on top of a mountain.

It's the latest rage!

Oh and clearly you have not listened to them because they don't do clean vocals and there is nothing emo about them.
Yes, they are a hardcore band. Nothing new or anything that is going to break some musical barriers.
As the singer once said, "We are not trying to break any musical barriers, we just want to make songs that people will get up and mosh to."
And what is wrong with that? They put on an awesome show and you never leave a Parkway show disapointed.

Well I'll readily admit I've only seen one music vid of their's and that was enough to make me dislike them. I'm dead sure they did one of those clean/spoken word bits in it to but hey I could be mistaken.

Well, I came into this thread because I like to hear people's opinion of bands etc and I despise metalcore as it's pretty much destroying the genre I breathe. If they're hardcore that's all sweet I don't have anything against them but when bands water down metal it angers me, that simple.

Parkway drive (whether they have cleans or not) is definitely a -core band. Even wikipedia says so. If they're not Metalcore, what bastard genre are they? Cause those riffs (or lack there of) are too simplistic and hardcore driven to be anything but.

bah, big deal really.. parkway drive are just another metalcore band yea, nothing new but they are the biggest metalcore/hardcore band to come out of Australia (lately atleast). They are ok i guess, they're live shows are good. Bands like EID, killswitch and dillinger have been around a long time and are really pioneers of the whole mixing metal with hardcore thing. Atleast they were the ones to make it known so show em some respect and influenced a lot of metal and hardcore bands. I'm actually not a fan of any of these bands at all except killswitch who in my opinion is the best band with lamb of god to come out of America lately. And i know killswitch are good friends with these other bands which is why they chose these artists to go on tour with em.

Kepp on thinking it is metalcore if you want.
And people who b**** about what metalcore is doing to your metal scene, i am on your side. Metalcore has f***ed up the hardcore scene (my scene). Now we get all kinds of 14-15 year old emos who think that they are hardcore because they listen to Bring Me The Horizon or Atreyu coming to shows. But they would have no idea who Sick of it All or Agnostic Front are. It is f***ing stupid, but at least it is dying out and we are getting our music back. Slowly. You have Lamb of God or Municipal Waste, and we have Most Precious Blood and Terror to do it.

The thing that turns me off about metacore is how many of the bands do the poppy melodic emo sing-a-long choruses in their music. At least 85% of core bands do that sh**. And my problem with hardcore is how involved it is with straight-edge, but Terror is really sick, those guys are making me start to like hardcore again.

I would have to disagree with you xwigglesx on Parkway Drive being a Hardcore Punk band. Just because they have breakdowns every two minutes in their music or sing alongs doesnt make it hardcore punk ie: Hatebreed. Same goes for Terror, they have more metallic elements in their music then Punk, same goes for Parkway Drive. Even the bands you mentioned such as Sick of it All, and Agnostic Front have come out with more metallic albums of late. Listen to Victim in Pain or Age of Quarrel, now thats hardcore punk. Cro- Mags is my personal favorite since i was young lad in Brooklyn.

I phrased that wrong, in no way do i think Hatebreed is a hardcore punk band, i meant they have breakdowns and sing alongs which doesnt make them Hardcore Punk. And Hardcore is just short for Hardcore punk. I mean ive been listening to Hardcore Punk for a while and ive never heard of Hardcore being separate from Hardcore Punk.

I have, a lot. When you listen to say Carpathian (Australian straight-edge) and then you listen to Minor Threat there is a massive difference. But both are called hardcore. I must admit that this does confuse me but i have been into this music for ten years now.
Thanks Cynic, Municipal Waste are probalby the best modern metal band to emerge since Machine Head or LoG.
Check out I Killed the Prom Queen, they are a bunch of sellout c***s. Their early music was proper hardcore but then they kicked out the old sunger(Crafter) and got some English prick, then they became a metalcore band. People regarded them as a good hardcore band until their new album.
Also, their is nothing wrong with straightedge, the only problem comes from the minority militant groups. They are the only problem with it. Being edge is about personal decisions, not forcing people into conforming to your beliefs, that is called facism and hardcore has never been a genre to stand by that.

Thats koind of funny because every single person I've ever encountered thats straight-edge was a stupid a$$hole, they all totally tried to force me to conform to their beliefs which I think are just f***ed. When I was 13 or 14, me and a buddy went to this hardcore show, which was actually a straight-edge hardcore show but we didn't know what the f*** that was. After we got dropped off we went behind the venue and blazed, then I heard someone yell "I smell a piece of sh**", and a bunch of skinhead straight edge fa**ots with black X's all over themselves came over and started b****in' us out. We tried to be cool with them and put out the doob but they were f***in' p***ed, we had no idea why cuz we didn't know what straight edge was. Later when we were in line my buddy sparked a smoke and someone dropped him right to the ground. Like seriously dude, every straight-edge f***er I've ever met is just f***in' intense like that. And what the f*** is wrong with smokin herb, drinkin' beer and having sex. Straight edge is f***ed

Well that is f***ed, only one of my friends is edge and we don't go around smashing our friends because they drink or smoke pot.
And if they try to make you conform then they can't call themselves straightedge. But sadly today kids think that this is what your ment to be like if your edge because of sh** like the saltlake scene. The police conider straightedge a gand there because of the stuff they do.
If you wan't to mess our body and mind up that is your choice, not mine.

Parkway Drive is far from hardcore. They have far too many melodies, guitar hooks, pitch harmonics, guitar solos, tapping riffs, and soft acoustic sections to be called Hardcore. They are in fact Metalcore,i prefer to call them Melodic Metalcore. You guys miss the point that Metalcore is the combination of any style of Metal and Hardcore.Parkway mixes Melodic Death Metal with Mathcore for the technicallity and a little once of hardcore for the heaviness. As you can see they end up having more Metal in there sound and alot less hardcore. None of those "hardcore" bands put any of those things into there songs.Parkway Drive may throw in alot of breakdowns, but they rarely do verses over them,or over chug riffs for that matter. There to melodic, technical and fast to be cast into the same catorgory as boring a$$ bands like agnostic front. Im sorry but chug riffs and breakdowns strectched out to fit an albums span is gay.
