Lordi Release New Single "Retropolis" Lyric Video
Finnish hard rock / metal monster squad Lordi increase the vehement desire for their forthcoming Limited Deadition with a second single today. Titled "Retropolis," the band take fans on a trip back to the 80s both musically and lyrically. Seductive guitar and synth leads conjure feelings of nostalgia, and successfully shorten the wait until the album's release on March 21, 2025 through RPM.
"This title nearly became the name of the album as it would pretty much sum up the context of the album: Musically it's all built around this main riff which was written by our guitar player Kone. It's very 'happy' sounding and has an almost U.D.O.'s 'Faceless World' album style to it. I was thinking of how to best build a vocal line around it, without making it sound totally cliché. This would be the main riff, so the song kind of wrote itself. Lyric wise, it's painting a picture of an 80s feeling that shows like "Knight Rider," "Battlestar Galactica" or "Masters Of The Universe" brought on. It's a very visually inspired song, bringing back the cover art of Iron Maiden's 'Somewhere In Time' in my brain. It doesn't really tell a story, it just gives off an overall 80s post-apocalyptic vision in a way. That being said, I really miss those days. Everything was better back then...everything was better in neon lights!" recalls Mr Lordi. More...
Lordi Debuts "Dead Again Jayne" Video
Clear the manège, let the ultimate Lordi show begin! "Screem Writers Guild," a new beast of an album by the beloved Finnish hard rock monster squad, has been unleashed through Atomic Fire Records today and to even win the bravest listeners to their side, the group have also launched a cinematic music video for opening track "Dead Again Jayne," once again scripted, directed and edited by Mr. Lordi himself. Dealing with a beloved, patched-up lady who suddenly isn't that dead anymore, the song is dominated by a morbid, Frankenstein-ish atmosphere. You can check it out below.
Tonight, Lordi will coincidentally appear at Aria Complex (San Gwann, MT) to kick off another touring cycle and to also premiere their new musical play on stage for the first time. But the performance is only a warm-up for Mr. Lordi and his crew since it will be followed by a massive European arena tour alongside Sabaton and Babymetal in April/May as well as select summer festival gigs and a few Austrian shows in autumn. Take a look at the band's current itinerary below and keep your eyes peeled for more monstrous shows which will be added to their schedule from time to time...! More...
Lordi Shares "Thing In The Cage" Lyric Video
Lordi give us the creeps unveiling a new digital single, "Thing In The Cage" today. Providing hard rocking "spooktainment," the song is accompanied by a lyric video which was edited by mastermind Mr. Lordi himself once again. You can check it out below.
Mr. Lordi states, "This song was inspired by the old side shows, or freak shows if you will. Musically, with a different arrangement, this could have been a disco song and I think it still is one in its core, just the production is in the hard rock vein. But the bass line definitely keeps the disco vibe vivid here. As for the lyric video, we've never shown too much of making our costumes and masks, so it's a little peek behind the scenes... This video still doesn't show that much, but at least it might work as a little teaser to reveal how we get to be this pretty."
Finnish hard rock monsters Lordi will unleash their new studio album, "Screem Writers Guild" on March 31st, 2023 via Atomic Fire Records. Its title is a reference (and a "LORDIfied" play on words) to the "Screen Writers Guild," an association of screen writers in Hollywood ('20s to '50s), yet there is no doubt that Lordi's musical version is much louder and fiercer. "The record itself isn't a real concept album, but it obviously plays with the overall cinematic theme," says Mr. Lordi. More...
Lordi Signs With Atomic Fire Records
While the world's favourite hard rock monsters, Lordi, are currently busy touring Europe, they are already gearing up for the next chapter of their spooky history: today, the horde are proud to announce their signing to Atomic Fire Records. While their current 7-CD(!) album box, "Lordiversity," was released just one year ago, the famous Finnish group with mastermind Mr. Lordi have fully seized their time at home during the pandemic to record a follow-up album that will see the light of day in Spring 2023.
Lordi comments: "We are damn proud to announce that Lordi are joining the impressive ranks of Atomic Fire Records! We're quite psyched up to stir the pots with Markus Wosgien, Flori Milz and their fantastic team. Leaving AFM Records (thanks a million, Jochen) was not an easy decision for us since the support there was always great! Stay tuned monster maniacs, the next era is all set and ready and awaiting just right around the corner..."
Atomic Fire Records label founder/A&R Markus Wosgien adds, "With Lordi, we are happy to welcome another heavyweight of the heavy metal scene to Atomic Fire Records. 20 years ago, their fantastic debut »Get Heavy« was released and you simply had to love them! The combination of their monster image with traditional '80s metal was a real joy on every single one of their albums and is always a guarantee for a true metal inferno live on stage. What Mr. Lordi and his monster clan recently created on the 7-CD package 'Lordiversity' still leaves me speechless and will probably never be seen again in this form. We are looking forward to the next chapter with some new monster anthems par excellence!"

Lordi Parts Ways With Guitarist
Finnish costumed rockers Lordi has announced that they have parted company with guitarist Amen (AKA Amen-Ra.) A statement from the guitarist reads as follows:
"THIS IS THE END...
"My beloved friends, fans and supporters. My heart has never been as heavy as it is today. Never.
"Today is the day that I have to tell you that my guitar has became silent in Lordi. I never thought I'd write these lines, but life happens and people change.
"Half of my life time I gave all for my dream to be a Rock'n'Roll star. From a tiny village in Finland I got to travel the world and play for you. I made my dream come true! And it wouldn't have been possible without the support from all you amazing and crazy people. We shared so many amazing memories, all those live shows, your smiling faces in the crowd, hands on my shoulders, the gifts you gave me, the stories you told me. I will cherish those forever. And I can't thank you enough, for all that you've been giving me. All the love, the support, all of it.
"THANK YOU!
"A journey like this is only possible when you have hard working people around you. A thanks-to-list would be massive, but everyone who worked with me and with the band deserves my endless gratitude. From record labels to booking agencies, from managers to accounting firms, from bus drivers to catering people. Special thanks to our crew - you amazed me every day with your hard working attitude. And extra special thanks to all the guitar techs I worked with. Long days sometimes in very demanding and challenging working conditions - I salute you. Very special thanks also to all my cooperation partners during these 25 years, latest Schecter guitars, Ovation guitars, inTune Gtr picks and S.I.T Gtr strings. I've been blessed to have had a chance to work with so many great people, thank you all. Last but not least, thanks to all the past and present Lordi band members - playing together with you was the best. Let's smile when we meet - cheers!
"I don't know what the future will bring, all I can tell you is that right now I'm relieved, but sad. I'm grateful but unsure where my path will take me. A big chapter of my life has come to an end, but a new one is starting and I can't wait to see what life has to offer for me.
"Let's celebrate what we had together. Let's celebrate Amen-Ra. Who's in?
"So be it, it shall be done, Yours, Amen."
Frontman Mr. Lordi also commented on the departure with the following post: More...
Lordi Shares New Lyric Video
Lordi ventured into the very danceable abyss of industrial metal in January with "Spooky Sextravaganza Spectacular," one of the albums featured in their "Lordiversity" collection. Check out the just-released lyric video for the single "Demon Supreme" below.
Lordi Posts New Music Video Online
Lordi doing thrash metal? After 2020’s Killection already featured a song, "Abracadaver" is a whole album full of ‘90s thrash and speed metal inspired songs. Heavy riffs are guaranteed to make every fan of Sepultura, Kreator or Anthrax bang their head to the fast-paced rhythm. Certainly an album full of songs guaranteed to create giant moshpits at every concert they are performed at. Grab a beer and put on your finest battle jacket when giving "Abracadaver" a spin! Two tracks – "Abracadaver" and "Beast Of Both Worlds" – are heralding this album, which will be released digitally on December 10.
Lordi was officially founded in 1992 by singer, songwriter and designer, Mr. Lordi. The band is deeply rooted in Finland and originally comes from Rovaniemi in Northern Lapland. In 2006, the band achieved their international breakthrough with their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest ("Hard Rock Hallelujah"). So far, so good.
But what if this had only been our own little wretched reality so far and in actuality, things are quite different? What if Lordi have actually been active since the early-‘70s and unleashing one hit after another onto humanity since then? More...
Lordi To Release Seven New Albums At Once
A monstrous project is ahead of us and without a doubt, this is as unique as Lordi's costumes and career. Mr. Lordi and his crew are announcing the release of a boxset of 7 new albums at once. The "Lordiversity“ box shall be available on November 26th as 7-CD boxset and as 7-Vinyl boxset in three different colour editions. Each album has a different genre approach (Hard Rock, Disco, Progressive Rock, Heavy Metal, AOR, Thrash/Speed Metal & Industrial Metal) and the whole concept is based on the last record "Killection“, which came out early 2020 and celebrated various chart successess.
Mr. Lordi explains: "Within a week when the Killectour was cut short in March 2020, I realized we're gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow. It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though "Killection“ was released not even two months before. I was thinking that the most boring thing we could do after "Killection“, is to do another basic Lordi album. And I was very much enjoying the different styles of song writing, recording and production on 'Killection,' but another boring idea would have been to do a part 2. Since 'Killection' is a fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn't exist, I got the idea that the only thing that could top that, is to record and release that fictional back catalogue. And until Halloween 2021 the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist... at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But 7 is a number they felt that is somewhat sane, hahahaha!"
The new song "Believe Me" has it’s origin in the band fictional Disco-era. Imagine Lordi performing a classic disco track in the style ABBA, KISS or the Bee Gees in the late 70s, while Disco music hit its peak. A hilarious and entertaining idea that now becomes reality. Watch the comic clip for that track below. More...
Sabaton Announces European "Tour To End All Tours"
Last year has been a challenging yet menacing one for bands all over the world: It has been a time of insecurity, worries and the fear of never being able to return to the status quo of touring.
But, Sabaton never was a band to fall that easily due to difficult circumstances. Instead of giving up on their visions and ambitions, the Swedish metal batalion forged their monumental tour plans to present to their fans today: A tour that makes the hearts of fans beat faster. If you close your eyes and listen carefully, you can already hear the sound of roaring guitars like thunder above a battlefield. You can catch the epic melodies like victorious anthems after a deserved victory and you can feel the tension of an approaching sensation: "The Tour To End All Tours".
In Spring 2022, Sabaton will be visiting 26 cities in 17 countries, bringing their ground-breaking modern metal to the people and delivering breathtaking live shows in a setting that will once again set new bars for concerts of this kind. Sabaton will be supported by Mongolian rock band The Hu and Finnish heavy metal veterans Lordi.
Pär Sundström, Sabaton's co-founder and bass player, states:
"We have all been waiting for far too long for this... And we are more ready than ever.
By the time we start this tour we will have a whole treasure chest of new songs to play along with a lot of other surprises. You do not want to miss The Tour to End All Tours." More...
Lordi To Release Seven New Albums This Year
Beware, April fools. Lordi announced the release of four albums simultaneously - of course this is not going to happen, that would be insane. But actually not insane enough for Lordi. The reality is that Lordi is releasing seven (7!) new studio albums in October. No joke, not kidding.
Mr. Lordi explains: "Within a week when the Killectour was cut short in March 2020, I realized we're gonna have to use the sudden extra time somehow. It was clear that it is the time to start planning the new album, even though Killection was released not even two months before. I was thinking that the most boring thing we could do after Killection, is to do another basic Lordi album. And I was very much enjoying the different styles of song writing, recording and production on Killection, but another boring idea would have been to do a part 2. Since Killection is a fictional compilation album from a fictional back catalogue that doesn't exist, I got the idea that the only thing that could top that, is to record and release that fictional back catalogue. And until Halloween 2021 the fictional back catalogue will be no longer fictional, it actually will exist... at least for the most part. My original idea was to release 10 albums, but the label said that is insane. But 7 is a number they felt that is somewhat sane, hahahaha!"
So, as for Lordi‘s 11th studio album release, we will not only get the 11th new album, but we'll get the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th album at the same time. What other rock band has done this before? The answer is no other.
The band states: "The albums will sound all different from each other, they're all in different styles and fictional eras in the Killection timeline. 5 of the 7 albums are already done by the way, and number 6 is well on the way."
Be ready for a big bunch of new material from Finland’s shock rockers.
Lordi Posts New Lyric Video Online
Lordi have released their new lyric video for single "Like A Bee To The Honey," a track written by Paul Stanley/Jean Beauvoir.
The new Lordi album features an unreleased song by KISS frontman Paul Stanley! The hidden gem "Like A Bee To The Honey" also features the Hanoi Rocks legend Michael Monroe
You can check out the official lyric video below.
Lordi's 10th studio album "Killection" drops worldwide on the 31st of January through AFM Records. Not only is the album a brand new concept in itself – a fictitious collection of hits from the years and decades past – but it also brings a truly hidden gem into the daylight: one of the songs on the album is 'Like A Bee To The Honey', which was written by KISS's lead singer Paul Stanley together with Jean Beauvoir, known for working with names such as Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones and of course KISS. The song that had been collecting dust in Beauvoir's desk drawer ever since the end of the 1980's has now been handed down to Lordi.
"This is a tremendous honour to a band that wouldn't even exist without KISS. Simply having the privilege to listen to a song from the 1980's that no fan has ever heard before… and then to get to be the artist that brings the song for everyone to hear – it is mind-blowing", Mr. Lordi states.
Mr. Lordi and the band's guitarist Amen had been making songs together with Jean Beauvoir as a trio, and one of these songs, Scream Demon, made its way to the new album. It was during these songwriting sessions in Helsinki that the very existence of 'Like A Bee To The Honey' came up: Jean thought the song would fit the new record perfectly, and the band was more than ready to get this rare gem on their album. The song is made even more unique by its saxophone solo – first one ever in Lordi's history – performed by the Hanoi Rocks legend Michael Monroe. More...
Lordi Parts Ways With Bassist
Finnish costumed rockers Lordi has announced that they will be parting company with bassist Ox, who joined the band in 2005. A statement from the band reads as follows:
"This is a very sad day in the history of the band. Our long term bandmember and close friend Ox has decided to leave the band after the summer festivals 2019. Ox, all the best for your future and thanks for the fantastic time we had all together."
Below are some personal words from Ox explaining the situation:
"It has come the day that I have to tell you that I will be leaving Lordi. There is no drama, no major issues or anything like that. I just feel very strong urge to do something else in music and to be available for other musical journeys, what ever those will be. I will do the summer festivals with Lordi and after that it's time for the new guy to take it from there. I wanna thank the band and especially the best fans on this planet, for these 13 years and the greatest ride of my life. I love you all from the pound of my heart and I hope to see you again somewhere sometime."

Lordi Put On A Monster Show In Bristol
Lordi are a band that will usually generate a different reaction to everyone who hears their name. For some, they're keeping the spirit of old school heavy metal alive with their U.D.O. and glam influenced sound, along with their showmanship, while for others they're an imitation of other such previous bands as Gwar and then there are those in Europe who remember them solely for their Eurovision winning entry, "Hard Rock Hallelujah" back in 2006. Whatever the case, the prospect of seeing a Lordi show was a very intriguing one and something I was able to do when they stopped off in Bristol during their extensive tour of the United Kingdom.
Starting the show, and in some fashion, was Silver Dust, from the Swiss municipality of Porrentruy. The band make strong use of theatrics in their performances, using props such as video screens and realistic, if slightly funny looking, guns, while the majority of the group were clad in suits and top hats. It's steampunk influenced gothic rock at its most ludicrous and by extension, its most fun, with the audience made to feel very much part of the show throughout, blurring the line between a hard rock show and vaudeville. Their music may not be to everyone's liking, but Silver Dust do put on a performance to remember. More...

Lordi Documentary To Play At DOXA Film Festival
The Finnish documentary "Monsterman" by director Antti Haase celebrates its international premiere on Saturday, May 9th at the DOXA Documentary Film Festival in Vancouver.
"Monsterman" tells the story of the heavy metal monster band Lordi that unexpectedly won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, along with front man Tomi Putaansuu (aka Mr. Lordi): a real-life drama about a boy who wanted to be a monster and who did everything to live his dreams.
The movie was produced by Illume Ltd (Finland) in co-production with Film i Väst AB (Sweden), JAB Film AS (Norway), and Common Ground Pictures AB (Sweden). The following press release was issued about the documentary:
"As a kid Tomi Putaansuu created his own monster fantasy world, in which he – now in his early forties – still lives. The heavy metal band Lordi resulted from this world and Tomi does everything for it. In 2006 they were – against all odds – the first Finnish act ever to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Five years later, they are hundreds of thousands of euros in debt and aren't selling any
gigs. Tomi is forced to close the Lordi-restaurant and the highlight of the year seems to be a performance for a group of Russian travel agents in the 'Santa Claus Village'. Despite all of this, Tomi, with full support from his parents and friends, stays true to his dreams and hangs on to his ideal world of monsters. Will his faith and perseverance ensure a comeback of the band?"
Director Antti Haase comments: “Tomi and I grew up in the same town. In the early 1980s we used to play super hero games in the magic forests behind the Santa Claus Village together with the other kids from our neighborhood. I wanted to understand why I grew up to be an adult, and Tomi never did. At the same time this film shows that Lordi is not just a latex clown performing simple hard rock tunes from the 1980s. I have found a creative genius and hidden world of beauty, tragedy and comedy behind the mask of my beast friend.”
