Despised Icon Premiere New Single & Music Video

Canadian deathcore mainstays Despised Icon have unleashed “The Apparition,” the third single from their upcoming seventh studio album, Shadow Work, arriving this Halloween (October 31st). The new track lands alongside a Simon Marchand-directed music video (going live today at 10 am EDT), both of which now available for streaming via YouTubeand Spotify for you below.

The album boasts an impressive lineup of guests: Matt Honeycutt of Kublai Khan TX appears on the previously released “Over My Dead Body,” while Tom Barber (Chelsea Grin) and Scott Ian Lewis (Carnifex) lend their voices to “Reaper.” Meanwhile, “In Memoriam” features the distinctive touch of Misstiq.

Adding to the intensity, a gang vocal choir composed of members from Ion Dissonance, Beneath The Massacre, and Scorching Tomb also appears on the record.

Canadian deathcore mainstays Despised Icon have just unleashed their crushing new single, “Over My Dead Body”, featuring a guest vocal appearance from Matt Honeycutt of Texas heavyweights Kublai Khan TX.

Directed by Didier Charette, the accompanying music video sets the tone for what’s to come on the band’s upcoming seventh studio album, “Shadow Work”. That record—marking Despised Icon’s first full-length release in six years—is due out on October 31st (Halloween) via Nuclear Blast.

Distant Premiere New Single & Music Video

Distant has officially released their new single, “Acolytes Of Damnation,” featuring Alex Erian of deathcore legends Despised Icon. The song is part of a reimagined version of the band’s early EP Tsukuyomi, now titled Tsukuyomi: The Origin. This updated effort revisits and reshapes the tracks to better reflect Distant’s current sound and style.

Tsukuyomi: The Origin is set for release on November 22nd through Century Media Records. Decapitated Announces European Tour Dates

Polish death metal masters Decapitated and their label mates, Canadian deathcore outfit Despised Icon, will be teaming up for a European wide tour this autumn. The bands will bring their neck-breaking setlists to 22 cities across 11 countries, including 5 UK shows, incorporating a performance at Damnation Festival 2022.

Decapitated and Despised Icon will play as rotating headliners. Special guests on the road will be Brand Of Sacrifice, Distant and Viscera.

Decapitated´s guitarist Vogg states:

Despised Icon Discusses New Lyrical Concepts

Canadian deathcore pioneers, Despised Icon, are back with their sixth full length album, Purgatory, out on November 15 via Nuclear Blast. In this new video trailer, vocalist Alex Erian talks about the lyrical concepts on the new album, while getting tattooed by Shawntriple6 at Thunderbird Tattoo LA.

Purgatory was produced by Yannick St-Amand, Eric Jarrin and Alex Erian. The music was recorded by Despised Icon's former guitar player, now current front of house engineer Yannick St-Amand while the vocals were recorded by close friend Antoine Lussier of Ion Dissonance. Mixing and mastering were completed by Cryptopsy's very own Christian Donaldson at The Grid in Montreal. For the album artwork, the band selected Eliran Kantor to create a piece that echoed the themes and concepts of Purgatory.

Without a doubt their most dynamic venture to date, Despised Icon have a fresh and energy filled arrangement just waiting to see the light of day in the form of Purgatory. For many years, they have laid the foundation of Deathcore and spearheaded different sounds and movements within the genre.
