"We've often been vocal about the classic death metal bands that have influenced us throughout the years but have rarely discussed the grindcore and hardcore elements in our music," states vocalist Alex Erian. "Our new single 'Bad Vibes' is raw, straight forward and reminiscent of bands like Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Biohazard, and Madball. The 90's were a defining decade for us and so we opted for that old school look when putting together this new music video. ‘Beast’ comes out in a week. Get into it!"

Despised Icon Signs With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast is pleased to announce the signing of the Montreal based deathcore pioneers Despised Icon. The label comments:

"For many extreme music fans, it may be hard to remember a time before Despised Icon, given the massive influence they’ve subsequently had on the genre. But when the group formed back in 2002 and released ‘Consumed By Your Poison’ the same year, there was little intersection between the sounds of classic death metal and the brute force of hardcore.

"But Despised Icon were among the first to fully embrace the signatures of the traditional death metal formula combined with a relentless embrace of breakdowns, part of an emerging new sound.

"Now Despised Icon have returned with their upcoming album entitled, ‘Beast.’ The genre-defining band is fully reawakened, poised to recapture the crown with the monstrous and merciless might of their potent expression. Featuring the men responsible for most of the band’s now classic death metal catalogue, ‘Beast’ is a vicious commentary on the state of the world and the state of music itself."

Despised Icon added: "It's been 7 years since our last record and our batteries are fully recharged. The O.G. line-up is back and the new shit hits hard. You'll hear sounds of our older slammin' death metal days blended with the speed and technicality of our latest records. Cheers to everyone that has stood by us after all these years. Can't wait to unleash the Beast." More...

Despised Icon Announces Reunion Shows

The reactivated Montreal death metal pioneers from Despised Icon have now announced some North American shows this Winter.

The band recently performed a run of dates in Europe, four years after announcing that the group would be disbanding. While no album or full tour is planned, the members of the group are just happy to be back on stage performing together. Vocalist Alex Erian comments:

"Cheers to everyone that came out to our reunion shows this summer. The response was overwhelming. It felt just like in the good old days. We promised you a few more in Canada and the US, so here you go! There won't be any other dates so don't miss out. Keep it brutal."

Confirmed dates are as follows:

Dec 13 - Montreal, QC @ Club Soda
Dec 14 - Toronto, ON @ Opera House
Dec 20 - New York, NY @ Gramercy Theatre
Dec 21 - Worcester, MA @ Palladium

Having created quite a buzz with their debut album, 2002's "Consumed By Your Poison," Despised Icon's brand of technical death infused hardcore matured and developed over the years, arguably reaching its peak with 2007's classic, "The Ills of Modern Man." The band has sold over 150,000 albums worldwide and have influenced countless number of bands in the metal and hardcore scene today. Despised Icon disbanded in 2010 after a series of sold out farewell shows. More...

Cerebral Bore Announces New Live Shows

Scottish death metal act Cerebral Bore has announced a number of headlining shows in Spain, starting on May 7th in Barcelona.

The band will be playing five shows during what will be its first visit to Spain, with support from French death metallers Psychobolia. The tour kicks off a week after Cerebral Bore wraps up a mini European tour with Despised Icon.

Cerebral Bore guitarist Paul McGuire comments: "We are happy to say that we are heading to Spain for the first time. For some reason any offer we have ever had to go there hasn't quite worked out, so it will be great to play somewhere new straight after the Despised Icon tour. But it looks like we will be in Europe for a few spare days inbetween… So maybe you will see us added to a particularly awesome show taking place that week too!" More...

"It’s been a while already since we made THE announcement and I know some of you are probably saying 'WTF, these guys still aren’t done yet?!' hahah Well, instead of canceling the tours we had in the works at the time, we figured it’d be a good opportunity to play in our favourite cities, tour in a few countries we had never visited before and rock out with you guys for the last time."

"After touring in 24 countries in the last 6 months, we’re finally back home and getting ready to play our last Quebec and Ontario shows next week.
