Messa Shares New Music Video "Reveal"

Italian doom metal outfit Messa are pleased to unveil their new video for "Reveal." The track comes off the band‘s critically-adored new full-length, "The Spin," released in April via Metal Blade Records.

Based in the band's eclectic, self-defined “scarlet doom” sound, The Spin rises, falls, broods, bites, comforts, and destroys, all the while resounding with both instinctive magic and obsessive, concerted hard work. After lighting up the underground with a triptych of increasingly distinctive and wondrous records – 2016's "Belfry," 2018's "Feast For Water," and 2022's "Close" – with "The Spin," Messa is audibly equipped for the proverbial big leagues.

Comments the band on their "Reveal" video; "The main riff in 'Reveal' manifested itself spontaneously. Our guitar player Alberto dreamed of it one night. He suddenly woke up at 4:00am and recorded it with his phone so he wouldn't forget it. It was the most immediate song to write out of all those we wrote for 'The Spin' and it features two key elements: the typical, 'blues' use of slide guitar and the 'metal' element of the blastbeats.

"This video was entirely shot with analog equipment in a tire warehouse in our hometown. We chose the lo-fi aesthetic on purpose, using the dynamism of strobe and neon lights. We tried to make it as spontaneous as the songwriting process for the track." More...

Tailgunner Signs With Napalm Records

Having earned the rare endorsement of K.K. Downing as the next big thing in metal, and touring the UK supporting KK's Priest, British newcomers Tailgunner have just signed with Napalm Records. Further endorsing his praise for the band, the Judas Priest guitar legend has now taken on a new role of producer for their dynamic sophomore album. Tailgunner have quickly made a name for themselves amongst heavy metal fans—this young band from the home country of metal is one to watch!

Tailgunner about the signing:
"There are iconic partnerships—like denim and leather, Jack & Coke, and swords and tequila. Now we hope to add Tailgunner & Napalm Records to that list. We’re proud of being pure Heavy Metal, with zero apologies or compromise—that’s why joining the world’s biggest independent metal label feels right at home. The blitzkrieg of our first three years as a band continues full throttle—with our upcoming sophomore album, and together with the incredible team at Napalm behind us and the great and legendary K.K. Downing producing the record, we’re taking on the world n’ planting the flag for British Metal right at the top of it. Heavy Metal for Eternity!"

K.K. Downing about Tailgunner:
"Tailgunner is a band we should have seen emerge years ago from the UK. They personify everything that is heavy metal. They are loud and proud, and totally descended from everyone in metal that has gone before—their energy and rawness, together with their brand of metal, incorporates all of the godfathers and much more. Maiden, Priest, Motörhead, Def Leppard—the list is endless. The band has a youthful freshness and a uniqueness that will no doubt elevate them to being a true Metal favourite of the fans."

Napalm Records Senior A&R Sebastian Münch adds:
"Over the past few months, I've been fortunate enough to witness the development of the new album, and it's simply incredible. K.K. Downing has already said everything perfectly here. Tailgunner are not a copy or nostalgically drawing on Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, or Def Leppard, but are creating their own fresh, authentic heavy metal universe." More...

Omnium Gatherum Drops "Walking Ghost Phase" Video

As a last single before their new album, "May The Bridges We Burn Light The Way," drops November 7th Finnish melodic death metal stalwarts Omnium Gatherum are releasing the 80s infused "Walking Ghost Phase" that comes with a visualizer video which can be watched below.

Jukka Pelkonen (vocals) about the song: "'Walking Ghost Phase' is about addiction in its many forms. It is about dullness defeating passion yet the addiction creating a fixation. It is a zombie-like state where one is forced to go through the destructive pattern repeatedly. Self-deception is one of the key topics in this song. How addiction lures one into thinking there is nothing wrong and then it consumes you. The title is a real term used when the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster happened in the 80's. There were workers exposed to heavy radiation who obviously got sick from it. After a while they seemed to be cured, but that was only a deception. Soon afterwards they just collapsed and passed away. That is why I linked the ’Walking Ghost Phase‘-state to the idea of addiction."

Markus Vanhala (guitars) further comments: "Here‘s the third OG single down the road - called 'Walking Ghost Phase.' This one represents the simpler, straight-forward banger side of the upcoming album, it is getting your heads banging and fists pumping. Really looking forward to playing this one live as it has a feel of an upcoming classic live anthem - luckily we have A LOT of shows coming up. Also fear not, there‘s also gonna be some a bit more proggy or advanced stuff on the album. May the bridges we burn light the way!" More...
