Machine Head Posts New Song Online
American metal veterans Machine Head has posted a new song online entitled, "Beyond The Pale," which is available to listen to below. The song comes from their forthcoming new album, "Catharsis" which will be released through Nuclear Blast on January 26th and will feature fifteen new tracks. The record was produced by frontman Robb Flynn, who said about the album:
"I feel like metal could really infiltrate the mainstream with this album. And it needs to... now more than ever. A lot of consideration went into making these songs more identifiable to a wider audience. Simplifying ideas, simplifying hooks, really concentrating on story-telling as opposed to 'brutal poetry' or whatever. And while I’d love to say it was all some grand plan, there was no 'plan.' You never know where you’re going to end up whenever you start writing a record... you just write... but I tell ya what... we ended up with a landmark here.
"Whenever you finish an album, you always feel proud, but this time... we’ve got something really special. We can feel it. We know it. 'Catharsis' could really elevate our genre."
The tracklisting for "Catharsis" is as follows:
1. Volatile
2. Catharsis
3. Beyond The Pale
4. California Bleeding
5. Triple Beam
6. Kaleidoscope
7. Bastards
8. Hope Begets Hope
9. Screaming At The Sun
10. Behind A Mask
11. Heavy Lies The Crown
12. Psychotic
13. Grind You Down

In Flames Releases Surprise Covers EP
Swedish melodic death metal veterans In Flames has today released a four track covers EP entitled, "Down, Wicked and No Good." Appropriately, the song includes covers of the Alice In Chains song, "Down In A Hole," Chris Isaak's, "Wicked Game" and the Depeche Mode classic, "It's No Good," for which they have released a new music video. It also contains a live recording of the Nine Inch Nails staple, "Hurt."
Speaking on the Depeche Mode cover, the band said: "We’ve been fans of Depeche Mode since we were as young as 10. Getting to do our rendition of ‘It’s No Good’ showed us a different side of the song – it brought new meanings to us. We relate to the lyrics and power of the song so heavily that it almost feels as if we could have written it ourselves. They’re a band that we’ve always looked up to. Growing up, you either listened to Pop, Synths or Rock and even though we are a metal band, Depeche Mode inspired a lot of the electronic elements we use in our music today." More...

We’re here to enhance our blend of metal and rap and to take it to the next level. Each corner of this town is a visual mirror of the thickness of our sound. We’re gonna soak in Brooklyn and sweat it back out on record."
Added Duplantier: "I'm excited to contribute to this album. Rise Of The Northstar is badass. Their approach of music is so direct, and they drive their career the same way. Definitely a great experience for me."
