Hooded Menace Streaming New Album

For more than two decades, Hooded Menace have stood as the pillar between two realms of underground metal. The Finnish band are still transfixed by classic horror on their monumental new album. But "Lachrymose Monuments Of Obscuration" only goes to show that these stewards of death-doom remain far from stuck in their ways.

Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration comes out tomorrow, Friday, October 3, but you can hear all seven earthshaking tracks today by listening to the full album stream on the Season of Mist YouTube channel.

Ask the band anything about Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration during tomorrow's Reddit AMA.

Lamb Of God Drops New Single "Sepsis"

Lamb of God return with "Sepsis," a visceral, menacing new single out now via Epic Records, marking the GRAMMY® Award-nominated band’s first new original music since 2022’s critically revered album, "Omens."

Produced by longtime collaborator Josh Wilbur, the three-and-a-half minute track arrives alongside a grainy, lo-fi performance video that offers a moody, unfiltered look at Richmond’s underbelly. Directed by Gianfranco Svagelj, the video captures the song’s slow-burning tension.

"’Sepsis’ is a celebration of the very underground local bands here in Richmond that we really admired when we were just forming Burn the Priest," Mark Morton shares. "Bands like Breadwinner, Sliang Laos, and Ladyfinger—though they never got widespread attention outside of Richmond, those were the bands we listened to all the time. The song references that stuff in a way that’s a direct line to where we were coming from when we were in the basement writing our earliest material together." More...

1914 Debuts Eponymous Single

As the release of their fourth album, "Viribus Unitis" (out November 14, 2025, via Napalm Records), approaches, the unrelenting 1914 unleash their second single. With "1914 (The Siege of Przemysl)," the Ukrainian death metal battalion unveils further horrors of war. Thundering doom riffs and ghostly historical recordings relentlessly descend into the longest siege of World War I, where the Austro-Hungarian army experienced a crushing defeat. Once again, history bleeds through every note – grim, grand, and devastating!

"Viribus Unitis" deepens 1914’s commitment to historical authenticity, both lyrically and conceptually. Told through the personal accounts of a Ukrainian soldier in the K.u.K. army, the album follows real events, tracing a timeline from 1914 to 1919, and paints a grim journey through the war’s rise, climax, and hollow aftermath.

k.u.k. Galizisches IR Nr.15, Gefreiter, Ditmar Kumarberg about "1914 (The Siege of Przemysl)":
"Trapped behind fortress walls: In the icy grip of World War I, 130,000 Austro-Hungarian soldiers found themselves surrounded, starving, and desperate inside the mighty fortress of Przemysl. From September 1914 to March 1915, the Russian army laid siege, pounding the city with artillery and choking off supplies. Months passed. Food ran out. Horses, dogs, even rats, became rations. Disease spread. Morale crumbled. And then… surrender. One of the greatest capitulations of the war. The once-proud fortress fell, handing Russia a symbolic victory on the Eastern Front. But victory was fleeting! A short-term win for Russia, but the tides turned again when the Central Powers retook the city later that year. War shows no mercy." More...

Orbit Culture Shares "Bloodhound" Music Video

Beware of the antlers!

Ahead of their acclaimed and awaited new album, "Death Above Life," (3rd October via Century Media), Sweden’s Orbit Culture release new single "Bloodhound." Watch the nightmarish, horror movie influenced video by their longtime partners Riivata Visuals below.

The band comment: "'Bloodhound' is probably the angriest song we’ve written to date. We’ve always been somewhat reluctant to use explicit language in our music - maybe out of habit, maybe out of respect, I honestly don’t know. But when that opening riff came to life, it just had this raw, primal energy that demanded something more. The song sounded furious from the start, and to match that intensity, we knew it was time to break our own rules and let the anger speak freely.

"The lyrics came together faster than almost anything we’ve done before. It was like this outburst - a childlike hammering of aggression onto the page. Usually, we try to keep ourselves in check, to polish things a bit. But this track is the 1% of the time where we didn’t. Where we couldn’t.

"'Bloodhound' is about anger - at people, at situations, at an industry that often exploits the very people trying to make it within it. It’s about the cycle of revenge, the moments of acceptance, and then the anger flaring up again because nothing really changes. This song is about reclaiming your voice, your power, your worth. It’s about calling out the bloodsuckers, the manipulators — and making sure they don’t get to take from you anymore." More...

Beriedir Posts New Music Video Online

Following the release of their album "Liminal Spaces," Italian progressive metal act Beriedir unveil the official music video for "As Tight As Phantoms Hold."

First introduced live in 2024, "As Tight As Phantoms Hold" quickly became one of the band’s most energetic and impactful songs to perform on stage. Musically, the track blends tight rhythms, ambient sections, electronic drum passages, and crushing breakdowns, embodying Beriedir’s ability to merge atmosphere with sheer intensity. Lyrically, it portrays the image of an anonymous guard stationed in a desolate outpost and condemned to fleeting encounters with nameless passersby, a metaphor for loneliness, transience, and betrayal.

"An isolated box, a guardhouse at the entrance of a parking lot. Cars come and go, strangers pass by, some of them wave. Nameless, every day, no one meant to stay. That’s what some of us feel like. A keeper of nothing, only meeting ghosts. The only connection afforded was that of a stab in the back."

The band comments:
"This song stands out as one of the most energizing to bring on stage. We wanted to push variety in composition, mixing ambient layers, electronic touches, and breakdowns to create something that constantly shifts in intensity."

The official video visually translates this restless duality, amplifying both the haunting isolation and explosive release at the heart of the track.

With "Liminal Spaces," Beriedir continues their stylistic evolution, moving further from their power metal roots toward a darker and more progressive identity. The record explores trauma, nostalgia, longing, and emotional fragmentation, offering an immersive experience that resonates with anyone navigating moments of solitude and transition. More...
