Lamb Of God Drops Off Tour Due To Terror Concerns
Update: Randy Blythe has now posted a very lengthy statement online explaining the band's reasoning behind dropping off the tour. You can read that article over here.
After the ISIS-led terrorist attacks in Paris last week, Lamb Of God has decided to drop off all remaining European tour dates with Children Of Bodom and Sylosis. The band comments:
"Due to concerns brought to our attention by the venue security team yesterday in Tilburg - and continued general concerns across Europe - we have decided against putting our fans, our crew and ourselves in this position night after night and will be canceling the remainder of our performances in Europe. This is a decision we are making on behalf of the fans, our crew, and our band, as well as the well-being of everyone's family, friends and loved ones at home. Stay safe, and we will see you very soon."
The tour will continue without Lamb Of God, however, with Children Of Bodom commenting: "Lamb of God has chosen to leave the European tour due to security concerns in Europe. Our team has been working very hard to make all of the remaining shows happen. WE WANT TO, AND HAVE DECIDED TO, CONTINUE ON THE ROAD AND PLAY THE REST OF THE TOUR. Sylosis also will be joining us on their scheduled appearances.
"Here is what we know so far. Unfortunately the promoter has decided to move forward and cancel tonight's show in Oberhausen, Germany, and the additional shows in Germany. At this time, the remaining schedule will move forward as this (we ARE looking to add more shows FYI). We WILL keep you updated as we have changes, and we are doing our best to keep you informed as quickly as possible on everything." More...
Anthrax Reveals New Album Artwork
Anthrax has revealed the cover art of the band's upcoming release, "For All Kings," due out February 26, 2016 via Megaforce. The band's drummer, Charlie Benante, who designed the artwork and worked closely with artist Alex Ross, talks about the concept in a short video below.
Benante promises that the eleven-song "For All Kings" will be "aggressive and super-thrashy." The album was written by Benante, bassist Frank Bello, and rhythm guitarist Scott Ian.
Anthrax is currently on tour with Slayer in Europe and will join up with Lamb of God in the U.S. starting in January. On these dates, fans will be treated to songs from throughout Anthrax's career, including the classics as well as the brand new "Evil Twin," a song that Bello says "is a song that begs to be played live."

Tool Announces U.S. Tour Dates
Maybe that sporadically hinted but never confirmed Tool album is actually happening?
The band has now revealed via Facebook that Tool is gearing up to hit the road again in early January - perhaps this time supporting new music?
Tickets go on sale on Friday, with full date and venue details available below. The band had also enigmatically posted this message just before revealing the dates:
"SOMETHING WICKED THIS... YOUR WAY COMES! For those of you who only like NEWS about TOOL, here's something that should be of great interest. The impenetrable veil of my dark scrying mirror FINALLY CLEARED today - enough so, in fact - that I could perceive a large heptagram on a complexly lit stage where four performers were dwarfed by dramatic video projections.
"Evidently the sonic and visual extravaganza that I was receiving is a rare glimpse of FUTURE TOOL U.S.A. TOUR DATES in the month of JANUARY, 2016 e.v. However, with some of the images in the depths of the black glass not being clearly distinct... YET, fans will have to keep checking back for an official announcement.
"Regarding an opening band(s), what I was able to discern through the ever-shifting veil will in all likeliness be exciting to many Tool enthusiasts. STAY TUNED, FOLKS... as my trusty SCRYING MIRROR CONTINUES TO CLEAR..."

Randy Blythe Assaulted In Dublin
Maybe Randy Blythe should stop leaving the country, as he's again run afoul of the locals, this time in Ireland. Blythe updated his Instagram account with this post about being attacked in Dublin:
"Sometimes doing what you love comes at a price: here's the Samuel Beckett bridge in Dublin, Ireland. Last night around midnight I walked one block away from my hotel to take some long exposures - right after I shot this very frame, I looked up & saw 5 or 6 teenage dudes (16 to 18 year olds?) in hoodies & track pants spreading out around me. 'Well, crap, I guess it's on' I thought.
"I started stepping quickly into the street away from the little cul-de-sac where I was (it was a bad spot to be trapped), trying to keep my eye on all of them at the same time. One kid drew up to my left getting close & BLAM - someone else hit me in the head from behind with something (I think they had a stick or whatever) - I saw stars for a second, then I heard car horns & a cabbie was driving at these kids & I was standing in the street trying to shake it off, because that little fucker had rang my bell pretty good.
"Like all cowards & weaklings all over the world, they came at me in numbers and struck from behind. I never even had a chance to smash one of the little shits because the cabbie (thank you, whoever you are) scattered them while I was regaining my wits. So now my glasses are gone (but I have contacts), my new Surf City hat w/the Black Flag bars is gone (but I brought another hat), my new e-cig is gone (but I have others), & I have a split open elbow & a bit of a headache (but it could have been much, much worse - I could have caught a knife). Bad Brains Guitarist Dr. Know Hospitalized
Bad Brains guitarist and founding member Gary Miller, better known to fans and many others as Dr. Know, has reportedly been taken to hospital and is now on life support, according to several news outlets. Details about why he has been hospitalized have not yet been revealed but a small update from the band reads as follows:
"The Bad Brains family ask that you please keep Gary (Dr. Know) Miller in your thoughts and prayers The family respectfully ask that their privacy be honored during this time and very much appreciate all the great energy that is being sent their way.
"Positive vibes and PMA!"
More on this will come as soon as the information becomes available.
Fire At Colectiv In Romania Leads To 27 Deaths
A night club fire during a metal show in Bucharest, Romania last night has led to an estimated 27 dead and nearly 200 injured. The fire happened at the Colectiv nightclub as Goodbye To Gravity was celebrating the release of new album "Mantras of War."
According to Telegraph.co.uk, the fire broke out due to fireworks or some sort of on-stage pyrotechnics getting out of control, but there has been no official statement from anyone yet as to the exact cause.
Our condolences go out to the families of the deceased and injured, and we'll keep you updated as more information comes in. Were any of our European readers at the show and can you shed any light on what occurred? More...
Huntress Comments On Breakup Rumors
Last night Huntress front woman Jill Janus posted a status update about her frustration with health issues and online trolls, leading several sites to prematurely report that Huntress had broken up. Guitarist Blake Meahl has now issued the following statement clarifying the situation:
"Our vocalist Jill Janus posted an announcement last night that she was having difficulty dealing with devastating health issues. Four months ago she had major surgery to remove cancer from her uterus.
"She needs time to fully recover from her hysterectomy and to continue treatment for her mental health issues. Her bouts with bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and disassociative identity disorder have been particularly difficult lately and are ultimately responsible for her unfounded statement last night.
"We will resume touring in December when Huntress joins Black Label Society 12/26-12/31. Thank you for your kindness and understanding."
Jill Janus recently discussed her physical and mental health issues at length with Revolver, with excerpts from that interview available here. More...
Dream Theater Wants You To Pick A Side
Update: while the specifics of the two sides haven't been revealed yet, the band did announce this upcoming album will be performed in full on headlining dates in February and March. Get all the details right here.
It seems like those prognificient dream thespians are up to something, as Dream Theater just sent out an email asking fans to take a side between two options at the band's website: "The Great Northern Empire" and "The Ravenskill Rebel Militia."
Theories abound as to what is going on (the names almost seem like fantasy RPG references), as entering your email address doesn't seem to do anything at this point. The likely option seems to be an impending double album. What do you think is going on?
Conducting From The Grave Calls It Quits
California outfit Conducting From The Grave will now be putting the band's name to the test, having just issued this announcement about deciding to call it quits:
"Hey we have been putting off announcing this now for a long time, because goodbyes are never easy, but we are no longer an active band. It may not come as a surprise seeing as how we went from playing 200 shows a year 5 years ago to 3-5 shows a year recently. The long story short of it is much the same as most underground metal and hardcore acts - we all grew up before our band was able to achieve any realistic financial stability for 5 people to pay rent and raise families on.
"That being said however, we want to send off with as much of a proper bang as our adult lives will allow. During the month of January 2016 we are open to booking weekend farewell shows in the West Coast region. Promoters can email graveconduct@yahoo.com if interested in booking us in their city. More...
Eddie Hermida Re-Joins All Shall Perish
In an odd twist of events, Eddie Hermida is now back in All Shall Perish (he left the band back in 2013 to front Suicide Silence) but is apparently also still full-time with Suicide Silence - the very issue that drove the wedge causing him to leave his original band in the first place.
Hopefully it works out this time. It would appear there was also further conflict in the band behind the scenes involving a lawsuit, as All Shall Perish issued this press release:
"How perfect that today is Back to the Future Day! All Shall Perish co-founders Matt Kuykendall, Ben Orum, and Caysen Russo are back together with Hernan 'Eddie' Hermida and Chris Storey. (Start the DeLorean!). The deathcore titans hailed by fellow Bay Area dwellers like Kirk Hammett (Metallica) and Robb Flynn (Machine Head) are making new music.
"Hermida fronted All Shall Perish on all three of their most recent albums: 'The Price of Existence' (2006), 'Awaken the Dreamers' (2008), and 'This is Where it Ends (2011).' Hermida will continue in his role as full-time vocalist for Suicide Silence.
"Orum plays guitar on all four All Shall Perish albums. Kuykendall, who created the name All Shall Perish, drums on all but the most recent. Storey was a fan-favorite guitarist from 2003 to 2009. Hate, Malice, Revenge (2003) era guitarist Russo returns to the fold. Original vocalist Craig Betit also plans to contribute.
"Nearing the conclusion of a legal arbitration over control of the band’s name, unpaid royalties, and other assets, bassist Mike Tiner declined a personal invitation from Kuykendall to rejoin his ex-bandmates. The legal system ultimately ruled in favor of the four out of five original members, their longtime vocalist, and guitarist. Russo will handle bass duties for All Shall Perish. More...
Frank Watkins (Gorgoroth/Ex-Obituary) Passes Away
Former Obituary bassist Frank Watkins (also known as Bøddel of Gorgoroth) passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was only 47-years-old.
Watkins joined Obituary in 1989, after the band's debut album "Slowly We Rot", and recorded with them "Cause Of Death" in 1990. Obituary broke up in 1997 and reteamed again in 2003.
Watkins stayed with the group through the recording of 2009's album "Darkest Day". In 2010 Frank Watkins left Obituary on acrimonious terms and was replaced by Terry Butler.
Nunslaughter's Drummer Passes Away
Nunslaughter drummer Jim Konya died on October 7, 2015. He was taken off of life support, which was required after he suffered a stroke. A Facebook memorial page has been created and a GoFundME account has been set up to help Jim's family with medical bills.
Known by his stage name, Jim Sadist, Konya played in the Cleveland-based death metal band for twenty years. Nunslaughter has stated it will be on hold for the rest of the year and will decide in 2016 if it will go on. Also, despite being on hold, the band will release more albums later this year. More...

Well, the question of the mysterious countdown is answered...
For years, fans have been clamoring for an official end to the story of Dethklok, the wildly popular animated heavy metal band at the center of pop culture mainstay and television show Metalocalypse.
Metalocalypse mastermind Brendon Small is championing a campaign to bring fans the official end to Dethklok’s story. Presented by Rocksmith and dubbed Metalocalypse Now, the campaign is designed to combine the efforts of grassroots supporters, the heavy metal community, comedians, record labels, instrument brands and more, proving to Hulu/Adult Swim that there is a massive audience who will watch this ending if they produce it.

Satyricon Vocalist Reveals Brain Tumor Diagnosis
Satyricon has been working on the follow-up to the band's 2013 self-titled album, but unfortunately a wrench has been thrown in that works as vocalist / guitarist Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven revealed via his Instagram account that he has a brain tumor. Satyr comments:
"I'm going home. I got extremely sick 8 days ago and was rushed to hospital. Scans have shown that there is a blind passenger in my head. Most likely it is benign. I can live with it as long as it does not grow bigger.
"Removing it is extremely complicated and should only be done if it grows into a size where it is a matter of life and death. We all get our set of cards and this happened to be one of mine. There are so many people who have to deal with much worse things than I do, so I do not feel sorry for myself.
"I have a great family, lots of friends, Satyricon, Wongraven Wines and many people who support my endeavours all over the world. I will spend the next two weeks trying to get my strength back, then try to starting writing on the new Satyricon again and pick up where I left on all my wine projects." More...
