The Exploited Frontman Rushed To Hospital
Scottish punk/crossover thrash legends The Exploited has issued a statement revealing that frontman and founding member Wattie Buchan was rushed to hospital yesterday in Belgium, owing to a serious heart condition. The announcement reads as follows:
"Just to let you guys know that Wattie was taken to hospital yesterday in Belgium. He has a very serious heart condition and almost died. I saw him today and would like to thank the doctors who saved his life. Also he wanted to thank all the fans at last nights show and who turned up to support him and the band. Wattie would like us to continue the tour with out him. We will still be playing our set with guest vocalists from the casualties and others. We want to thank everyone for their support for us and Wattie. I know it means a lot to him.
"We wish him a speedy recovery
"Cheers
"The Exploited."
The Exploited released their first album, "Punk's Not Dead" in 1981 and were a vital band in the early eighties punk and hardcore scene in the United Kingdom along with Discharge and G.B.H. in a movement that was named "UK82" after a song from the Exploited's second album, "Troops Of Tomorrow." They adopted a more metal approach in 1987 with the album, "Death Before Dishonour," a style they have stuck with on all releases since. More...
Infernal Tenebra Denied Entry To U.S.
Like with Wormrot and several others before, you can add Infernal Tenebra to the growing list of foreign bands unable to enter the U.S. for touring due to tightening travel restrictions. The band just issued this statement about canceling a previously scheduled trek alongside Testament and Sepultura due to kick off today:
"Can't win them all! Unfortunately, we were denied visas and can’t enter USA territory at this moment, so we had to cancel our support tour with Testament.
"This past few months were really a nerve wrecking experience. We tried our best to get the proper documents; lawyers in US were contacted, a shit ton of e-mails sent, we went to the US Embassy twice, but it’s just funny how it wasn’t meant to be this time. And it seems this current situation is not affecting only us.
"To make the long story short, just check a few links and you’ll get the picture:

Former Ghouls Suing Papa Emeritus
Update: former guitarist Simon Söderberg has now issued a statement about the reasons behind the lawsuit and which Ghouls are involved.
After winning both U.S. and Swedish Grammy awards, sadly not all is well within the Ghost camp.
According to a story posted on Swedish site Corren.se, several former Nameless Ghouls are now suing Papa Emeritus of Ghost.
An excerpt from the article (translated to English so a bit is lost) reads as follows:
"Leader of the rock band Ghost of Linkoping sued by four of the band members. He is accused of having managed the stores around Ghost completely without insight from someone else in the band. It appears from a lawsuit Linköping District Court.
" Behind the mood is four musicians in the world famous, acclaimed and secret hard rock group Ghost. According to the lawsuit claims the Quartet (the partners) to:
* Court states that partnership exists between the five musicians
* Jointly conducts the music group Ghost
* Partnership agreement prescribes that the band leader to carry out the management of the company's operations.
"The four musicians behind the application also demand that the court should require the bandleader under penalty of SEK 200 000, or the amount that the court considers reasonable, the company reported revenues and expenses for the financial years 2011 to 2016 and that he also recognizes the company's assets at December 31, 2016. The reason for the lawsuit is missing wages and allowances for several years."
According to the full article, relations between the Ghouls and Papa Emeritus soured over the years, with complaints of missing payments and un-signable contracts that put the musicians into untenable positions. It's unclear just which of the Ghouls are involved in the lawsuit and what their real identities are at the moment.
Papa Emeritus has declined to comment on the lawsuit thus far, but a statement is expected to be forthcoming at some point.

The show was scheduled for July 20th in Orlando. For a complete list of upcoming Every Time I Die dates not being dicked all up and down by the ever-lovable Disney, head over to this location. More...

Jeff Plate Splits With Metal Church
Jeff Plate, longtime drummer for Metal Church, announced his departure from the band citing time and time management issues. The band announced that it is withdrawing from the AlterBridge/In Flames tour scheduled for this May.
In a post on Facebook, Plate stated: "Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing my departure from Metal Church. I came to this conclusion 2 weeks ago, and agreed to hold off on the announcement until Metal Church had made some decisions on what they were going to do.
"This is obviously not an easy decision. After many conversations with myself, my wife, my family, my management and Kurdt Vanderoof and Mike Howe, I know I am doing the right thing for my future.
"I know there will be questions and speculation. The bottom line is time, my time, and how best I manage it. I had to come to terms with the fact that time is just blowing by at the speed of light and there is no time for me to second guess or regret anything I'm doing. At this point in my life I need to be in more control of my time and career. I have a number of things I’d like to do and try, and to do these I have to give up something I truly love and am very proud of.
"I cannot thank Kurdt Vanderhoof enough for inviting me into Metal Church. For the past 12 years I have had the honor and privilege of playing some of the best, truly iconic Hard Rock/ Heavy Metal songs ever written. I have recorded 4 records with the band. The latest, 'XI', is not only one of my favorite Metal Church records, but I feel it is the one of the best, if not the best records I have recorded throughout my career.
"Also, I cannot thank the Metal Church fan base enough for the tremendous support. I have met thousands of you over the years and you, fans old and new, are simply the best. You have kept this band alive for the past 33 years, and I am sure there is more great music to come.
"Metal Church is in a good place, and there are a number of shows and good things coming up this year. This decision is made now to not only let me prepare for the year to come, but also to let Metal Church do the same. Kurdt Vanderhoof(g), Mike Howe(v), Steve Unger(b), Rick VanZandt(g), Tim Harding(sound and production), and Joe Obrien(President @ Rat Pak Records) have been a tremendous team, and they are also very good friends of mine. I wish them nothing but the best.
"I hope to see you all again somewhere down the road. I will keep you posted on my activities. Trust me, I will not sit still for very long. Thank you, take care." More...
Jesper Strömblad Announces New Band
Cyhra, a new project featuring former Amaranthe singer Jake E. and ex-In Flames guitarist Jesper Strömblad, has signed to Spinefarm Records. The band formed a year ago and will enter the studio this spring, with a debut album expected to drop in the fall.
The core members, who cut their teeth in two incredibly influential metal bands, recruited other well-respected musicians to complete the lineup and the rhythm section: drummer Alex Landenburg, known from his work with Rhapsody and Annihilator, as well as bass player Peter Iwers of In Flames and Stoney Mountain. The addition of Landenburg and Iwers helped to fuel the Cyhra songwriting process and to solidify an overall sound.
"The excitement I feel about Cyhra is over the top," Jake E. said. "I have to pinch myself every day to make sure it's not just another dream. I am so proud of the music we have created and I can't wait to show it to the world!"
Strömblad stated, "For the first time for as long as I can remember, I feel I am a part of something special. This band has helped me regain my true passion for music. I can't wait to share this to the world!" More...

At The Gates Parts With Anders, Announces Album
Having completed an extremely comprehensive worldwide touring campaign in support of comeback album "At War With Reality" (reviewed here), Swedish melodic death metal pioneers At The Gates now break the silence and check in with this status update:
"So, it is now official that Anders Björler is no longer a part of At The Gates. He will always be part of the At The Gates family, of course, but he will no longer write, record or play with us live. This is something that we, the rest of the band, have felt was on its way for quite some time, as that special spark was no longer with him the last year. We are grateful for all we have experienced together with him, all the records, all the songs, all the gigs, all the laughs and good times.
"The rest of us have in the meantime started the work on the follow up to 'At War With Reality', we already have three songs written, and the direction is set for an intense, hungry follow-up album. Jonas has always written a considerable part of the bands' material and we are fully confident that the new material will live up to the standards set by our previous records. It is ripping. The four of us still have the burning urge to create death metal together, and we love playing live in front of our fans, so we will go on, with an even stronger intent.
"While writing the new record, that we intend to record in the beginning of 2018, we are trying out Anders' replacement. Some auditions are being held as we speak, and we will get back to you with news on the matter as soon as we know more." More...

Avenged Sevenfold Stagehand Dies After Show
Currently out on tour in Europe, Avenged Sevenfold just issued this announcement about one person dying and another being seriously injured during last night's German show:
"We have some very sad news to report. Last night after our show in Stuttgart, Germany, a 26 year-old stagehand fell from the rafters while breaking down our stage. He fell a very far distance onto a 19 year-old man on the local crew. Tragically, the 19 year-old died from his injuries. The other man is now in critical condition at the hospital.
"This is beyond heartbreaking to everyone in the band and on our crew. We all send our thoughts and prayers to the man in the hospital, both families involved, all of the local Live Nation crew and everyone else whose lives have been affected by this terrible accident.
"We love our crew so much as well as the many local staff who are essential to our show every night wherever we are around the world. This is such a stark reminder of how quickly an accident can happen and lives shattered in the process. When we hear more we will update you." More...
Warped Tour Lineup Reportedly Leaked
This year's Warped Tour is set to take place from mid-June through early August, but until today the lineup was a big question mark.
KillTheMusic.net is reporting that part of the lineup has leaked, and will include GWAR (which makes sense, as the band canceled this year's GWAR-B-Q with the statement that "GWAR is about to take on the craziest year of touring").
It's important to note that the source of the leak was not identified, so this may be pure speculation. KillTheMusic issued this statement:
According to our sources, we learned the following facts about this year’s Warped Tour:
Bad Religion, Lagwagon, CKY, Black Veil Brides, Beartooth, Hatebreed, and GWAR are a few of the many bands playing the year.
5 bands from Fat Wreck Chords and 5 from Epitaph.
25 bands cut from the usual lineup to ensure this year is quality.
Assuming this leak doesn't change any plans, the full lineup is due to be announced on March 22nd, 2017 with the planned tour routing available below. More...

Dillinger Escape Plan Involved In Serious Crash
While touring across Europe in support of latest album "Dissociation" (reviewed here), The Dillinger Escape Plan has been involved with a major accident. According to ITV.com the band's vehicle crashed while traveling to Krakow. ITV reported:
Aneta Wlazlowska, a spokeswoman for Radomsko police, said the band members were not seriously hurt but were taken to hospital for further tests. She said the most injured person in the crash was the driver of the lorry that hit the band's tour bus, which was parked partly on the road and hard shoulder. The New Jersey band were due to play in Krakow on Sunday, but the gig has been cancelled.
Following the initial news, Metal Injection issued this statement after speaking with DEP's Ben Weinman:
I spoke with Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman about the current situation, and he said "Everyone is alive, a few injuries, but it could be much worse." He explained that the bus was hit from the back, with the truck smashing through their gear before continuing to plow into the bus itself. The impact was serious and banged them up pretty good. The whole situation sounds horrific.
Unfortunately, it seems as though the fate of the band's gear was not as lucky as the members, as you can see from the phone photo Ben had sent. Needless to say, the show in Krakow has been canceled. No word yet on what will happen with the rest of the tour. The next scheduled show is this Tuesday in Germany. We're just happy everyone in the band is alive, and wish them a speedy recovery!
We'll update you with more info when a statement is officially released from any of the Dillinger Escape Plan channels. More...
Tim Lambesis Reportedly Released From Jail
Update: Altpress.com just issued this announcement: "When AP reached out to the California Department Of Corrections And Rehabilitation to find out if Lambesis was still interred in a California prison, a representative confirmed that he was discharged Dec. 17, 2016. He was discharged to the Division of Adult Parole Operations."
Back in 2014, former As I Lay Dying member Tim Lambesis was sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to hire an undercover police officer to kill his wife.
Although it hasn't been confirmed by any official sources at this point, multiple sites are reporting that Lambesis has now been released from prison.
The source for his info comes from George Lynch on Eddie Trunk's Show from the Monsters of Rock Cruise. During the interview, Lynch discussed his religion debates with Tim Lambesis and stated Tim has been released and has a book and record label deal.
You can hear the interview segment below, and a transcript follows:
I had every freaking argument out there, and he just was able to really kind of battle every argument, 'cause he had every counter-argument prepared in his mind; he had studied so hard. And as silly as his argument was, and as much as it didn't really hold water when you thought about it — it was all fallacious arguments — but…
Anyways, he just got out of jail for attempting to kill his wife. Now I'm not saying this as an indictment against anything. All I'm saying is, there is a guy who could argue Christianity beyond anybody I've ever spoken to in my life; I had these very heated debates with this guy… He had a beautiful wife; they had adopted three Cambodian children. And then he discovered cocaine, strippers, heroin and steroids. He went completely off the rails, abandoned his family, his wife threatened to divorce him, he hired an off-duty cop to kill her.
He recently got out of jail. He destroyed his band. They don't have a pot to piss in now; they're all struggling. [They are] a great band. I know them very well because, actually, the guitar player was my daughter's fiancé. And, actually, the drummer [Jordan Mancino] played in another project I had ways back, Souls Of We. So, anyways, he's out, he's got a mega record deal, he's got a book deal, everything's lined up for him. I mean, he's gonna skate through life. Everybody else is suffering. His wife is living in fear, his children are living in fear. His band doesn't have a pot to piss in.
Following the arrest and band implosion, Tim's former bandmates went on to form Wovenwar, and have since released two albums: a self-titled debut and 2016 sophomore output "Honor Is Dead." More...
