Loudblast To Release First Album In Four Years
It’s been almost four decades since their very first demo, "Behind The Dark Mist." Yes, that long. And yes, 2025 will mark Loudblast's 40th birthday, with plenty of special events and surprises planned. But that will be next year.
For the time being, Loudblast have chosen instead to still live in the now and release in the meantime maybe the most surprising and daring album of their long career.
Even if he voluntarily describes the material as "pretty old-school," Stéphane Buriez talks about "Altering Fates And Destinies" as a very personal album. "It’s a good synthesis of what we stand for in 2024. We don’t forget where we come from yet we didn’t set any boundaries and vowed to do whatever the fuck we wanted."
He continues: "'Altering Fates And Destinies' is a very dark album, powerful and more mid paced than its predecessors , it’s definitely one of our heaviest album so far in terms of patterns, sound and production wise."
A lyric video for the song "From Beyond II (The Return)" will be released on July 24. Watch a teaser below. More...
Primordial Posts "Nothing New Under The Sun" Video
Dublin, Ireland-based Pagan metal legends Primordial today unveil their video for "Nothing New Under The Sun." The track comes by way of the band‘s acclaimed How It Ends full-length, released last Fall via Metal Blade Records.
Comments vocalist A. A. Nemtheanga, "We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, The Bhagavad-Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and, to impress him, takes on his multi-armed form and says, ’Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.‘ I suppose we all thought that, one way or another." Gaerea To Release New Album "Coma" In October
Gaerea arrived shrouded in mystery. The masked sensations emerged from pandemic limbo with a vision for black metal that was guided not by myths or pagan beliefs but a purging of emotion. Existential dread still pulses through the Portuguese band's blood, but their upcoming fourth album signals a shift in psychology.
With "Coma," Gaerea are no longer strictly a black metal band. Instead, they're breaking to the forefront of extreme metal. Though their new album was produced by trusted confidant Miguel Tereso, it broadens the band's signature sound by taking it in two seemingly opposed directions. There are more moments of intense beauty, but they only heighten the ensuing blows.
The world may be as hopeless as the album's lead single declares. But with "Coma," Gaerea have returned to prove that they are only the band who can guide us into the darkness. More...

Abbath Brings Out Immortal Classics In Camden
It must be a fine line when embarking on a solo career, or at least launching an eponymous band. While as an artist one strives to explore their talent, or simply write music they themselves want to hear, there will always be fans who want to hear material from your previous endeavours. Abbath Doom Occulta, is a prime example of this quandary. On one hand, his three albums under the Abbath name have all been excellent, with plenty to get excited about and new songs that have thrilled fans old and new, but on the other, he made his name, and indeed his image, as the iconic frontman of black metal legends Immortal. This Summer, Abbath launched a tour of Europe with something a little different in mind; "Return To The Raven Realm," sets which consisted entirely of Immortal songs and Metal Underground was there in London to catch this interesting presentation.
Taking place in the Electric Ballroom, probably my favourite of the venues located right near the tube station, fans were queuing up for quite a while in anticipation, swapping stories of other gigs they'd been to and so forth. When the doors opened, the black metal horde poured in where they were soon greeted by perhaps one of the best suited support acts I've ever seen. Much has been made about Hellripper, the blackened speed metal band masterminded by Scottish musician James McBain, but to my shame, this would be my first time really listening to them. Abbath has never shied away from his influences, particularly Motorhead, and so it was very apt that opening the evening there was a band which took as much from the punk aggression of Discharge as they did the blackness of Bathory.
There were plenty of Hellripper fans in attendance, and plenty more after only a song or two, because they were absolutely superb! Kicking off with "All Hail The Goat," (which a latecomer would repeatedly scream for them to play later,) it was clear immediately that they were going to be a lot of fun. The enjoyment continued with songs like "Nekroslut," "Goat Vomit Nightmare" and "From Hell," which all cut through the crowd like a knife through butter. The band are often compared to Midnight for a few reasons and hearing these songs, it's definitely easy to spot their similarities, although both travel similar roads, each arrives at their destination. This was an absolutely exhilarating performance helped all the more by tracks such as "Nunfucking Armageddon 666" and "Bastard Of Hades," before they closed with "Headless Angels," and I can't wait to see them again!
