Killswitch Engage To Play Mystic Festival 2027
Killswitch Engage, Sinister, Castle Rat and Slift are coming to Gdansk in June 2027. They are four formidable new additions to the festival line-up.
Killswitch Engage (11.06.2027)
“Us Against the World” is both Killswitch Engage’s credo and a title of one of their songs. They are a symbol of the New Wave of American Metal, who buried nu-metal to start the metalcore revolution – it’s no coincidence that they are considered to be one of the most important metal bands of the 21st century. Their standing is further attested by millions of sold records, three Grammy nominations, and, most importantly, the music without which there would be no contemporary heavy sound to speak of.
Sinister (11.06.2027)
When speaking about death metal, usually one distinguishes two principal schools of the genre – the American and the Swedish one. However, during the golden age of this music, the Netherlands were another power player on the scene, with its own vision of brutality. Sinister was one of the pioneers of that scene and they were enshrined in the death metal pantheon already with their debut album, Cross the Styx. But they are no nostalgia act, as best proven by their equally uncompromising new record, Lucid Nightmares, which will premier mid-November.
Castle Rat (10.06.2027)
Saddle up your horses, put on your armour and ready your swords – the Queen’s returning to Mystic Festival to lead you to another victory. The New York-based band, led by the charismatic Rat Queen, is a real phenomenon. Probably because Castle Rat is more than just a band, it’s a whole universe created in the vein of best fantasy traditions and whose soundtrack is a marriage of classic heavy metal with downtrodden doom.
Slift (11.06.2027)
Slift’s new record is titled Fantasia and it’s the best way to describe the music made by the French trio, as no other label really sticks. Known for their spectacular live performances, Slift easily meander between space rock and heavy metal, psychedelics and stoner, to then crash into a harsh landing of basement crudeness. Put on your seatbelts… or not, it’s not like they’ll help much anyway. More...
